Laura (Forestgal), are you OK???

Postby BarbaraRose » Sat Feb 19, 2011 9:07 pm

Just heard that there is a tornado warning for Lake Casitas where Laura is camping this weekend! It is 6:15 pm and they said there is a radar indicated tornado right now heading for the Lake Casitas area. I sure hope Laura has found a safe place to go!
Laura, let us know you are OK when you can!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I just posted on her FB page...and see that she's on FB now, so I'm guessing all is well. Asked her to let us know she's ok!

All is okay. We were in the bath house for about 20 min. As Vicki said the cell passed south of us and we just got lots of rain. Our pot luck was delayed but we're not to be deterred! It's puoring again and we're all laughing under the E-Z Ups and having a good time.

Edit: I'm back in the trailer, all toasty warm. What a fun evening! We just don't see this kind of weather out here, so it was quite an event. Fortunately it was just lots of rain and an inconvenience.

I went through the mother of all thunder/lightning storms this summer while in Yellowstone. THAT was scary -- lots of hail (was still on the ground the next morning) and shredded sewer hoses all over the campground (another pitch for my new Sewer Solution -- that won't be a problem anymore!). Had a lightning strike about 50 yards from the trailer that blew out a transformer. Jed just laid on the couch and looked at the ceiling. Very okay with the whole thing, bless him.

Now if we have an earthquake this won't be fun anymore. I don't like shaking.

Back to the jigsaw puzzle!

Laura, glad you are OK! Tornadoes are nothing to mess with, especially in a trailer park! Glad you all got to shelter just in case. May the fun commence!

Oh gad...sounds like the one summer when the kids were little...every time we went camping we had to evacuate the campground or go to the bathhouse because of storm warnings. I was ready to just notify civil defense everytime we had reservations so they could plan to be on alert! Glad you're okay. Party on!

We have severe winter weather warnings headed our way after midnight. We're suppose to get freezing rain and high winds so I think we might be lucky if we have power in the morning then the snow is suppose to start around noon. I have food ready to heat on the gas stove in the camper...if it isn't like last time...the doors were frozen shut and we couldn't get in!
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Lenora, Jed was with me in the showerhouse along with about 6 other dogs.

It got cold -- for us -- last night! After it quit raining it apparently got below freezing. I was toasty-warm, but when I got up to go get donuts for our SCCampers breakfast I could hardly get the car door open because it was frozen shut. And the hills all around us were covered with snow -- looked like someone has sprinkled powdered sugar all over them. Absolutely beautiful!

I'm now sitting out under my awning with my laptop tethered to my Droid & Jed's munching on a rawhide bone. Life is really, really good. :)

Barbie, the pictures are in my heart. :) I don't stop to snap when it's 33* outside. Call me a wimp -- I don't care. If there's still snow on the hills in the morning and it's not almost freezing I'll think about it. But I'm getting up and heading out as quickly as I can tomorrow. Lots to do when I get home ... sigh.

Laura, you and Jed had quite the exciting weekend! I don't like storms of any kind, no matter where I am, but I think the tornado warning we had in Ocala during the GTG there made me really nervous! I left the cabin we had gathered in for dinner to go get Molly from the trailer and head for the bath-house (where Pegy and her friend were laying low) but, when I got back to the trailer, I heard the warning had passed, thank heavens! I watched the radar on the free, over-the-air TV that I was able to get, and breathed a sigh of relief when they canceled the warning for our area. Torrential rains with some wind for a short while was all we got, and, believe me, all I wanted! Glad to hear you are safe and sound!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!
