Last of Vegas - Bellagio

Postby asirimarco » Thu Sep 24, 2009 7:04 pm

We drove again to The Strip Monday and parked at the Paris. Walked through there – again it was pretty busy – guess there is money for gambling. While in Vegas we didn’t give a cent to any machine or hotel. It’s weird to walk through the casinos now – no clank, clank of coins coming out of the machines. No coins are used at all any more. Only tickets or bills. Ha – not mine. Used to be when we walked through the casinos I would almost always play any coins I had in my wallet. Of course always lost them but it was never too much. Now they get nothing from me.
We just looked in the windows and walked over to Ballys so we could take the walk over Las Vegas Blvd to the Bellagio. I love to see what they do in their conservatory for each season. Was not disappointed – it is all decorated for autumn – just beautiful. Just walking through the hotel to get there was an experience. Some of the big glass leaves hanging from the ceiling in the shopping area.

And the floors with all the mosaic flower baskets.

There is a covered bridge

A city on a lake with a water feature

A couple of trees with faces – this one talks
Image
This one is just neat
Image
These trees have water pumped to their tops and it constantly flows down around them.
Image
And flowers (real ones) everywhere
Image
After checking out everything there we went to the chocolate shop to drool over all the goodies. Just one of their trays.
Image
Then we walked back across the street along the Bellagio’s lake side. From there a great view of Paris
Image
And just as we passed the dancing water show began so we stopped to watch.
Image
Then back to the car – this is a view of the LV copy of the Arch of Triumph that is right where you wait for your car to be delivered.

Last year when we were here I took a lot of pictures of the new City Center buildings. They started building them just after we moved from Vegas in March of 07 – all of the buildings are expected to be open for business by December of this year.
Here are some pictures of just some of the buildings. It is changing the face of the Strip. And they just started hiring people to work there. The only problem is when the construction is finished 8000 construction workers will be finished. Its worth going to the web site to see it. http://www.citycenter.com/

Just thought I’d throw these in – I think they are pretty – these bushes with the orange flowers are planted all over the place.

These will be my last pictures from Vegas as we are on the road now. Enjoy

love the pictures Carol, and those bushes with the orange flowers that grow all over
the place are Indian bird of paradise, they grow all over Phoenix as well. They also
come in a yellow variety that I really like. They can grow really tall, and you can cut
them down to the ground and they regrow, or you can keep them groomed up short.
Very versatile desert shrub.

Neat! I love the glass fall leaves....and imagine finding a covered bridge in Vegas. If they have one, you'll find it! Thanks for the tour.

Love the pictures thank you so much Carol. It's hard to believe all that is in Vegas. I was there briefly in '85 and it was nothing like it is now of course.

HA HA This was my experience in Las Vegas on the Strip (which I hate all the traffic and the people). I went for a conference tho so didnt have a huge choice to stay OFF strip.

Just got back from Las Vegas. We stayed at the Flaming Hotel on the Strip. Our room was interesting. Pepto Bismol PINK everywhere...hence the theme I am guessing. Had a PINK bathroom and pink light in the shower... our rooms were free for 4 nights so guess I cant complain. I went with my friend from Florida and her Mom from Louisiana.

Went to a conference there so get to write off the airfare and rental car and food wahoo WE ate great.

I have to head back to the coast tomorrow as they think I should be at work on Thursday night sheesh.

here are some pics from our adventure, they do not compare to the Bellagio pics in any way, shape or form.

I am pretty sick of that dang pink color for now. Everything, everywhere PINK.

Oregonluvr, the room may have been pink, but the bathroom looked really nice....

Great pix Carol, as usual.

Thanks for the pics of Las Vegas, both of you girls.

I now know that the closest I ever want to come to anything like that is Epcot Center in FL, not too far from my house down there! Epcott enables a person to tour the 'world' by visiting little venues of various countries, including Paris----without the glitter and madness of Vegas, it would seem!

Vegas will not be on my list of places to see when/if I get free! Too much of too much for my liking!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!
