GOOD MORNING TO ALL!!

Glad to hear your surgery site is coming along smoothly, Lori, and thanks for the coffee!

Molly and I just got back from the old sawmill in the kicker to release one mouse this morning. She drools all the way there and tries to get it out of the Havahart trap! I have to force her to stay in the BACK!

57 degrees, overcast, damp, humid, but forecast to be nice later on today. We shall wait and see. I'd like to tackle cleaning the cellar today, which means loading the truck with dump stuff for tomorrow again. I once had started to paint the cement floor down there with some kind of sealer paint, and I so wish I had finished. I ran out of money at the time for the rest of the paint...sure don't have the $$$ now, either, until that first check arrives two weeks after school starts. But at least I can 'tidy' up down there----right now it's like an obstacle course or a fun house at an amusement park!

I told Mandy, my daughter, about the way to prepare jewelweed, and she says she has bushels of it growing around her ponds in her yard. She will follow Connie's directions and freeze a batch of it. She has horrible skin itchys and rashes and bumps and you-name-it-----aligator skin most of the time. I will be interested to see if she can get the 'brew' to turn orange.

Liz and Carol are nearing Carol's home, and I hope Maggie will be happy to settle down to a usual routine once again after a long trek to Alaska and back. Liz will be facing HOT weather back in FL, for sure, but maybe she and Roe can swim now and then!

Good morning all!

Yay! glad to hear the scar is tiny and that all is well, Lori! Soosie,... I wonder how many mice find their way back to the house? Or some of their 500 offspring?

I am headed to school to check on things for mailing the tax bills later this week. I'm crossing my fingers that the three boxes of envelopes I had ordered arrived done correctly. I'll be working a couple of days, probably Thursday and Friday to get the bills for the property owners and mortgage companies in the envelopes, sorted by zip codes and delivered to the post office.

Today when I get home I will just putter around here,... maybe shampoo some area rugs here. It's a lovely clear sky day,... but considerably cooler. That's a relief.

Have a great day everyone!

Lorie, glad that everything is fine.

Good Morning, Ladies. Not usually here this early and it's pretty cool to be able to say, pull up a chair at the table. I've got some bacon going, freshly picked TN tomatoes and some great bread for a little sandwich this morning. I'll just have some Diet Pepsi for my caffine.

Have a terrrific day! :x

GOOD MORNING ALL

Our exceptionally comfortable Aug. weather has come to an end - heat and humidity are back. UGH! At least I managed to enjoy a little of it -got a couple of old porch chairs painted. One more to go but it will have to wait for the next cooler spell.

Swine flu is already spreading again here and school has only been in session for a couple of weeks. If CDC estimates are correct we could be in for a rough winter flu season. Hopefully they are off in the high level of concern.

Well, I'm off to tackle too many dreaded tasks for the day. Getting some of this stuff off my "to do" list should make me feel better anyway.

safe travel to all

I'm on my closing shift (11.00 or 12.00 pm) so I just got to work. Got a trailer ready for my son and wife who should be here tomorrow from Colorado Springs. Worked on a stained glass window and "footered" as we call it in Scotland. Tomorrow is my court day and then I close the Lodge again, so it's going to be a long day. As usual I've lost my appetite at this elevation. This morning I was 109lbs. Don't hate me...I've got loops of loose skin. (Reminder to self, Do not work at a Nudist Camp) Does skin ever tighten up?

Cedar, forgive my ignorance but I thought you worked for a school and I'm confused. What do schools have to do with tax bills and mortgage companies?

Hush Kelpie-girl,... you are NOT ignorant! :o

You are right! I do work for the local high school as the monitor in the computer lab. But I also have a second job (last week of Aug - mid Nov) as the school tax collector. I have about 1500 tax bills to get out,... and then collect the payments. Many property owners have part of their payments go into escrow accounts to pay their taxes. I have to send bills for those people directly to the mortgage companies. 88% of property owners pay by mail but I have to also have public hours for those wishing to come in person. School tax is done Sept-Nov. Town/County land taxes are done in January. I am not involved with the town's collection of those. Perhaps in other parts of the country the school taxes are collected all together with the town/county land taxes, so it must have seemed very confusing.

I loved being retired, but when the X took off I had to hustle and find work to supplement my social security. I am so lucky that I absolutely love both jobs. I'll be working for at least another 3 years (if I stay healthy) until I'm 70 and my granddaughter graduates.

Boy Cedar....that's really different than I'm used to. We get one bill from the county treasurer right after the first of the year and can make two property tax payments one by April 30 and another before October 31. The treasurer disperses the money between the county, city, school and fire department. I have trouble remembering to make two payments that cover the whole ball of wax. :?
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Kelpie, I could really confuse you. Here in Louisiana there is no such thing as a county, here we are divided into parishes, from the old Catholic church divisions. My parish is Calcasieu, pronounced Cal Ca Shoe. I get my property tax in one statement during December and it is due by December 31 or late fees begin!

I live in Louisiana too and the sheriff is the tax collector.

Maybe Sparkle has hit on a new weight loss program, elevation. That's my weight problem, I'm only about 10' above sea level. But then I didn't notice any weigh loss on my trip to Seattle. Darn!

I am considering moving to the top of Whiteface Mountain for the winter! By the time I snowshoe up and down for school, no matter what I eat or couldn't eat, I would lose half my weight in a month, or two!

Sparkle----altitude isn't supposed to affect weight, I don't believe. Are you sure you don't need to see a doc and make sure your gut is ok??
