Judy...if your tires are part of the recall program from Michelin, then replacement of them is free...be sure to go to a Michelin dealer but check out their website first so you know if your tires are on the list. Don't want the dealership to not do their job. I saw on another RV website where the dealership was not helpful regarding the tire recall. Mostly because they only get $30 per tire when making the exchange. The guy involved was on top of his info & challenged them.....just be careful....

Glad you are ok, Judy. That sounded scary as heck.

Good news! All of my tires are part of the recall. I had checked the list but had believed that my tires were made previous to the bad batch. So here is the history of the three tires I have had to replace so far this year (2013):

- (Tire 1) had a tire way back in May that had a slit in it. I replaced it in Michigan. About two weeks ago, I got a phone call with a message that the new tire I bought to replace it was on the recall list announced on 12/13/2013, and I should see a Michelin dealer. It was replaced today with a new tire. No charge.
- (Tire 2) I had a blowout on October 24, 2013. I bought a new tire to replace it. Unfortunately that dealer did not check it for the recall, so I probably can't get a refund, but I am going to ask Michelin.
- (Tire 3) I had a blowout yesterday. The dealer today checked that tire, and it is part of the recall, so they replaced it. No charge.
- (Tires 4-7) The dealer checked the remaining four tires on my vehicle and all four are on the recall list. They could not replace them today because they did not have any tires in stock or in the nearby warehouse. They ordered them from various cities across the west and will have them for me in 7-10 days. No charge.

So, within a couple of weeks, I will have six brand new tires! I have ended up buying two new tires this year that I probably can not get a refund for. I think the first tire with the slit was really not the sidewall separation that was bad, but had I known, it would have been part of the recall.

I really should have taken my whole vehicle in way last early spring to get all my tires checked. Apparently, I did not do a good enough job checking the numbers myself.

I feel a lot better today knowing that the blowouts were not my fault and that the new tires should perform a lot better. I also will have all new tires on my vehicle, so I should not have to buy any new ones for several years. Whew!

I'm glad it's all working out for the best, even if you had to go through a couple of scary situations to get there. Just think of it as road experience.

Never have had a blowout and I can't imagine how scary that must be. Good you were near an exit and have Coach-net.

Judy you have had a time and a half with those danged tires! I can only imagine the anxiety of having to drive with one of a pair of tires blown to a safe place to stop, and then having a guy in his personal car show up to change it! Good grief! Things like this are enough to make me very leery of getting a trailer any bigger than the one I currently have, as I have no slush fund to spend on repairs and such. Nor will I ever have one unless I win some sort of lottery, or something. I can't even begin to fathom how comforting it would be to have plenty of money banked to cover emergencies like this. I hope things go better for you from this day on!

Just wanted to clarify. My tires were NOT part of the 7/22/13 recall, but WERE part of the 12/13/2013 recall.

So, even if you checked your tires against the July recall, you should recheck them against the one in December: http://www.michelinman.com/safety-recalls.page
I corrected my original posting. It is confusing to have had two recalls that were about similar problems. I was told tires for this recall were manufactured from 2010 to early 2013.

I got word today my other four tires were in for installation, so I will be getting them put on either Friday or Saturday. I have not had time to contact Michelin about the tire I replaced on 10/24, but will be doing that soon.
