How to hang curtains for blind?

Postby Lopo » Mon Aug 06, 2012 7:58 pm

I want to hang a curtain from floor to ceiling in my class C, behind the cab. There's a track up there with the sliding rings. I assume pinch pleat drapes with hooks are normally used for that type of ring. I've already got some nice thermal curtains that I want to hang there, but they're rod pocket. If they had buttonholes, I could use shower curtain hooks (the cheap metal kind would fit in those tiny rings), but I'd have to make 24 buttonholes. Ack! I might go crazy before I had made that many buttonholes. Anyone have an idea of how else I could hang rod pocket drapes on those little rings?

I tend to do things whatever is easiest for myself, and that would be to hang a cafe rod from each end with a little tie to the track and put the curtain on the rod where it would slide back and forth like normal.

Moved to maintenance room.

Don't even want to consider what I'd have to do to replace my curtain lol - but I will ask - are you sure you want ONE curtain that goes floor to ceiling? I have my upper curtain which closes off the storage area, then a separate lower curtain for closing off the cab area. I don't like the lower one closed except when sleeping, usually. But keep the upper one closed all the time so I don't have to look at my storage clutter!

My lower curtain is attached by two snaps. When my sis wanted to give me something rv related (she had purchased some fabric) I sent her my lower curtain so that she could attach the new fabric to the old, therefore using the old as the backing, and not having to replace the snaps or worry about them being not exactly in the right place.

I don't know if there is a tension rod big enough for my upper curtain, but could do that if there is. I use the little hooks they provided - and if I replaced it, would have to sew on tiny little fabric "hooks" to go onto the little plastic thingies. They are as old as the rig and still work great, so haven't had to do that yet.

Cool - and not expensive, either. Great find.

When my clever sister in law made new curtains for my upper area she put me to work with a seam ripper. I removed the plastic strip from the back of the old panels and she sewed it to the back of the new panels then I just threaded it back on. I just love those curtains and the fact they were a "scrap" she had and just the right size. Even though they are blue and yellow and I've gone to red and khaki in the rest of the rv, I still keep them. BTW, I noticed that if I have new curtains made I can buy that strip at campworld for really cheap.

I really like the clip too...You might consider grommets also. When my husband and I sailed I made sail covers and used grommets and ties but of course a shower hook would be what you would use. They have the kits at Walmart and it is very easy to do..even thought it was fun, like doing a craft.
