Where am I??? (We are just back from the shelter after surgery for spaying.)
I'm a little tottery on my feet! In fact, I feel as if I've had some pot-laced brownies, or something like that!
Resting on Goog's and Melissa's porch after a slow and short morning walk around the yard. They say I am not supposed to run and play for about 10 days----that will be hard!
The menageri in St. Cloud, minus one other cat.
Yesterday when I picked her up, it seemed as if she had the surgery just a couple of hours before! She was so loopy and staggery! But the lady and I lifted her into her travel crate in the back seat of the truck, alongside Molly, whom I brought with me to perhaps be a calming influence---she seemed to do the trick.
She managed to walk around the yard briefly and slowly, peed a lot, and then walked back into her crate which I had brought out of the truck and put on the mat in front of the trailer. After 6:00 pm last night, I gave her a bit of water and some dog biscuits, as per instructions, to see if she could keep them down. She wolfed them down, and kept them down all night. She slept in her hut near my bed last night, and seemd happy to go in there as soon as I got her up the trailer steps....I guess she feels as if that is her home!
This morning, she has eaten a good breakfast and had some drinks, taken a walk around the yard to do her stuff, and is now sleeping here on the porch on a blanket the kids put down for her to use. She is much more like the dog who found us a couple of weeks ago!
Today I need to call a vet and make an appointment for a checkup and to get some heartwom meds for a dog her size. I have a list of several in the area who will do a primary visit for free for adopted pets----what a nice thing to have available! Several are right here in Kissimmee next to St. Cloud. She has had primary worming (I dont think she needed it, but that's routine with strays) regular shots for whatever, including Rabies, got a tatoo somewhere I can't find yet, and is registered. All that, including the spaying, was just 60 bucks! Amazing!
We had some early morning rain which was very welcome, but not nearly enough to help with this drought season. Now the sun is back out, the humidity has gone down, and it's in the 70s---perfect! Later on I will put her in her hut in the trailer with Molly and go grocery shopping.
Happy Friday to all!
