Insurance

I didn't see a topic for this but wondering which insurance companies owners in FL have used? I contacted my auto insurer but they are too expensive and I fear they will not be comprehensive enough for an RV. I also contacted Gilbert Insurance and liked their quote and coverages. Anyone else have Gilbert? What about AARP for RVs? Good Sam's?

I think our answers will run the gamut of insurance companies. I use Progressive RV insurance because it was suggested to me by my neighbor who owns a motorhome and use to sell insurance. I just assume he knows better than me...... ;)

I just switched my rv back to Hartford with AARP. More and more insurance companies are understanding full-time rving, but not all do. So if you full-time, make sure the one you use does. And make sure you get full-timer's coverage (you'll be covered like a homeowners policy - and for personal effects, etc - differently than a car of part-time rver.)

I was very happy with the insurance co I was using - but they wanted too much to insure my car and I decided to keep them together. I got a quote from Progressive, but the rates were too high for me from them. The other company (I'm leaving) is specifically written for rvers by Explorer RV out of Ohio. If I was only insuring the rv, would have stuck with them. They do understand rv fulltimers policies better than any of the others I've talked to - but I guess I understand now what I need and make sure I get it :)

Had to make a decision today without the benefit of any advice. I called three companies: my auto insurer, Gilbert Insurance in FL and Good Sam thru GMAC. GMAC had a far better coverage for less money which includes full-timer coverage and replacement cost PLUS pet coverage. I could only get purchase price coverage from Gilbert, less total coverage and it cost more. I hope my RV driving record matches my previous record and I won't have any claims.

RV is now paid for, insured and I will pick it up on Wednesday after my "lessons". Can't wait.

I did a lot of research when I got the last insurance for my 5th wheel and Good Sam was by far the best. If you are stopped in one location or have your RV in storage for a while, you can call them and they take part of the insurance off and reduce price until you need it again.

I recently switched from Progressive to Good Sam (GMAC). I wanted to have my vehicle and rv on one bill if possible. It was also cheaper, too. Also, got a discount for having more than one vehicle on policy.
