Lovey-My Miracle

Postby Travelinana » Mon May 02, 2011 2:42 pm

It's been two weeks ago yesterday Lovey also took her walk across Rainbow Bridge. Lovey was presented to me on the side of the road in Nov of 06, very malnourished and very pregnant. Because of her horrible state of health she delivered 2 puppies alive out of 5. The little girl died one week later on the same day Lovey had emergency surgery because of gangrene in her uterous. I think most of you can imagine what I spent on her but she was sent to me and I knew I would just make a sacrifice if need be to save her. She did live and had a wonderful 4 years and 5 month and of course I got Rudy too. She lives on in him but he must be a clone of his father complete with personality because he has been a wild child. She was so opposite, just looked up with those big brown eyes taking loving from whoever wanted to give it.
I couldn't write about it until now. I found this poem which seems fitting for me and tho most of you have read it it consoles me so please bear with me.

Dogs are Miracles with Paws
A Dog's nose in the palm of your hand can cure almost anything. Dogs are made of love and fur. Let your Dog take you for a walk. Dogs are a sure thing. Some little known Dog secrets: Dogs have no secrets. Dogs are like vanilla ice cream: reliably delicious. Dogs are wise agents directly from Heaven. If you had a tail, wouldn't you wag it? There are no bad Dogs. Be your Dog's best friend. Dogs like dancing, Drive-In Movies and Dreaming. God made Dogs and spelled his name backwards! Dogs make great therapists. Kiss your Dog all the time. Some Dogs are nap Dogs. Dogs invented unconditional love. Dogs are Party Animals. Apply Dog logic to life: Eat well, Be loved, Get Petted, Sleep alot, Dream of a leash-free world! Live your Dog's Life!!

I'm so sorry for the ache in your heart.
What a touching story, and I had never read that poem before.

Oh, I am so sorry. It sure is an emotional loss and only bearable with time and the knowledge that you gave here a wonderful life that she would never have had without you.

Lucky, lucky Lovey that you happened by, Nancy, when she was so needing you. And lucky you to have been able to share her life for as long as you were able. Big comforting hugs to you and her son, who, I am sure, wild as he may be, reminds you of her DNA every time you set eyes on him!

Molly send comforting licks, as well.

In a world filled with some individuals that will never understand the partnership we have with our companions, know that here, you are among kindred spirits that surround you with love and sympathy ......and an understanding of the ache that is in your heart.

Big, big hugs to you during this time. Lovey was a very lucky rescue to have found you. And you were a very lucky human to have been found. I do think that when you rescue a dog like that, there personality is diffferent - she knew you were her savior. Her pup never knew (thank goodness) that anguish. So, yes, he may be more like dad, but also, he's much more free because he's had your love from day one.

You are a special person to have been the rescuer and I wish I could help take away some of the pain of Lovey leaving - but I know all I can do is give you the big hugs and listen.

Having just lost my Sassy I know just what you're going through. I still tear up when I tell someone about her being gone. I was so lucky to have her for 12 years. I don't think I could bear it if I didn't have Buddy and Sassy to give me cuddles. Big (((((((hugs)))))) to you. Lucky was very lucky.

((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))) I am sooo sorry to hear you have lost your friend, I am dreading that day and the losses I see in this area, just breaks my heart. I don't read the pet section much for that reason.

I am just heartbroken for all of you who have lost your furbabies.

I am touched by all your love and kind words about my loss. It helps me to see Rudy acting more like himself, no longer looking under the coffee table and behind sofa. Lovey always stayed in a place with cover, something she learned while in the wild. It broke my heart that she never felt totally secure. Thanks again :)
