SS WEDNESDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

SS WEDNESDAY

Postby Nasoosie » Wed Apr 20, 2011 6:39 am

GOOD MORNING ALL!

The sun is coming up, the birds are singing, and the tree frogs and pond frogs have gone to bed for the daytime heat. We got about two drops of rain yesterday right here, although other places not too far away got some hail, lightning, and some rain. We desperately need rain. I am tired of hauling my leftover bath water out to the plants in the yard by the heavy bucketfuls. We are charged for incoming and outgoing household water (water and sewer) so, rather than just letting it go down the drain uselessly, I transport it to my plants. I have another meter and faucet for outdoor watering, for which I would not be charged sewer fees, but the inground automatic irrigation system my father installed years ago has now deteriorated and leaks constantly underground. Hence, I have that outside metered section shut off. Some day, I will try to get that repaired, or bypassed, so I can have my outside faucets running on non-sewer-fee water for yard use. For now, bath water seems to suffice! I do use a faucet attached to house water out there on occasion, too, when I am too lazy to haul the water.

Today will be a pool day this afternoon, with the walk happening this morning. I will also take a bike ride after the walk. I need to buy some eggs to hardboil for decorating this weekend, and get a few groceries to take for the Easter picnic the kids and I will have on their property. My biggest chore for the trailer back there is to get my empty propane tank refilled for the trip home.

I also plan to try some chlorox bleach on the side of the house where mildew and mud has splashed up making it look icky. That will be chore number one before the sun gets higher and hotter.

Another bad tornado touched down somewhere yesterday, as I just saw on the news, so still keep a wary eye to the skies wherever you may be. Happy Wednesday!

Good Morning Soos and all who follow,

Hope your "paycheck" is waiting for you at the ban this morning Soos. Then you can be off and shopping or whaatever for another month. Sounds like a nice typical Florida morning down there.

It is a very snowy April morning here. I just shoveled what seems like a foot of it off part of my deck so the girls can at least get out of the house. But the snow swirls off my roof on onto the deck when the winds blow like this, so it piles up on the deck. I measured about 4 inches on my drive, so actually there isn't that much out there or at least it seems that way. It's mixed with sleet and freezing rain too, so that's holding the amounts down. So it can melt on it's own. It's very heavy, I'm not bothering with it. Long range forecasts call for rising temps and rain by Friday into Saturday and same for Monday and Tuesday with highs in 60's. near 70. There are 118 schools closed today in Northern Michigan and that includes some community colleges and our county bus system. If it had been Thursday, they would have had a nice 4 day Easter holiday weekend.

So my plan for today is to just stay in and price garage sale stuff, stain the wood parts fot the TT's cupboards, run the vacum etc. Just a puttery day. And do some list making for the upcoming camping season as well as work on plans for a trip south this winter if all goes well. When the county plows the road, then maybe the girls and I will go for a little walk. Gonna be nice to just be lazy today.

Hope those of you who are on the road are able to skirt all the bad weather heading across the country especially in North Carolina and that those of you in NC are safe and okay, especially thinking of Carolinagal. Also hope that Kathleen made it home safely as she was heading out into the storm that has dumped us with snow here and caused some heavy weather down her way. Keep safe all, enjoy your day whatever it may bring.

Good morning all, We had a really scary evening as very strong storms moved through the entire area. Fortunately we had no damage but they have a tree down across the street and across town the new police station that just opened had most of the roof blown away. I hope Kathleen made it home and wasn't stopped anywhere in SO Illinois or KY.
I have an early appointment for a much needed hair cut so best get everyone fed! Isn't it funny how one minute your hair seems ok and the next it is hanging in your eyes!

Good morning !!! I'm home from my really nice camping trip. What a lovely park I was in and Maggie and I, enjoyed many a nice walk. This is mountain country up here, so most of the walk is either up or down and then going back to rig, is backtracking and doing it all over. It was a COE CG, and I have found they are always nice, or the ones I have been in so far have been. This one is a finger of land out in a big lake, so there is water on both sides. You know how I like water ;)

Have spent some time this morning, catching up on all of the morning post, so nice to have some thinking of me, thank you. I always feel especially lonely when I get back home.

Its rainy and nasty, haven't set long enough to find if there is tornado weather out there or not, not much I could do if there is. Put a pot of Black-eye peas on for later today. I thought of them while camping and now can't wait until they are cooked :P

Well, I better get moving, just wanted to check in and let you all know I am back and will be around for some time now, darn it !!! :(

Have a great day everyone and stay safe, these storms, have been wicked and I will join you Soos and say enough already. Hope you are home safely Kathleen, what a nice trip home you had, the way we should all travel, visiting on the way. Next yr. come my way, ;) Li, I am so sorry you contacted the shingles, thats something I don't want, but have known so many who have had them, so I know they are no fun at all. Ladyhawk, it was good to get back and find you are doing so well, not sure I would want to return to work that soon, myself, though. Take care of yourself. Stay well everyone and safe from all of these storms.

CArol :)

Morning!
Yes, Soos, SS day! Too bad the $$ sits in my account "pending" for 2 days before they release the funds! I really don't understand that with today's technology.

Chilly night here and rain expected, on and off, for a few days. Looks like Easter will be rainy.

Yesterday, around 12:30, my two neighbor girls and their friend knocked on my door. Seems they had early release from school and their Mom wasn't home so they were locked out and cold from waiting outside. (of course teenagers don't wear coats!). So I gave them hot chocolate w/marshmallows and nachos/hot salsa and we had a good visit. Kinda nice really to get to know them.

Other than that, all I accomplished was walking the dog and edging the front yard/sweeping the driveway.

Today I'm going to get some eggs boiled and purchase the items for coloring said eggs. Figured I'd drive up Saturday to my DD/SIL's and do that with the GDs. Their Mom has to work Easter weekend (flight attendant). The family was going to fly down to San Diego to be together (that is where her flight is overnighting), but the 11 yr old doesn't want to, so it looks like Easter w/o their Mom. I know my DD is saddened about it. Will get them to church, too.

Take care today!

Good Burrrrrrrr Morning from Normal, it is 37 and it is after 10... will even be lower 32 tonight... maybe I should have stayed in the warm south...
I had on shorts and a lite shirt when I left Mitch and Georges'.... when I got to Normal to fill the gas tank I was greeted with cold cold wind and rain... my daughter had called me several times warning me of the horrid storms going through... I plugged along and got home about 8... all is well here in my Mobile Home... looks so big after spending 5 months in Bright Hope... but they are both good... Later Margie will come over and start the unloading process...
Soos enjoy that pool glad you can swim there... Sue hope the weather holds out for a good second sale... Carol glad you had a good time some of us were worried because we had missed your post about going... Red I waved as I went bye but you did not see me... Lenora you have been a busy beaver...
My granddaughter Ameera came through her foot surgery fine...
Hope everyones day is productive...
Kathleen

I don't blame her, she was probably trying to get as far away from you as possible!

Ladies, Ladies... there is no fighting on Wednesdays, especially at that hour.

Came through the last severe weather without any rain. We are still under the burn ban and desperately need the rain. I watch what is happening in Texas and just imagine what would happen here if the fires broke out. All we need is a good old soaking, without the fireworks. :D

Glad to hear that both Kathleen and Carol made it home safely. Ladyhawk, don't over due you are still physically healing. Linda

Carol, it's good to have you back. I'm glad you and Maggie enjoyed yourself.

Lenora, if it's held for 2 days - that's your bank and the restrictions on your account. You could talk to them about why they are doing that and see if they'll change that. Many banks have no restrictions on SS checks.

Since Washington Mutual got bought out by Chase this has happened. So I'm guessing it's their policy. I hate going in and asking anything cause it seems every time I do that they screw something else up. "Pass the cheese with my whine"!

I usually call the customer service # - seems those people have to know more (in banking) and have more authority to make changes. Normally face-to-face is good - but like you, I've found more problems with banks when I do things face-to-face. Maybe the phone customer service people have a better chance to learn all those types of questions? And I mean the 800 or national customer service # - not calling the local bank.

I'd just call them and say "I really don't understand the hold on my SS check - never had it before the merger" - and see what is said/happens..
