Hi there. Joined early, early this morning. I am a grandma of 6, mother of 2 (notice who gets first billing?), and a wife of one. I LOVE my rv and would have put it up there with the grandkids if I had a way of listing two in the same space. lol. I own a 40 foot Allegro with 4 slides. I have been out west twice and along the eastern seaboard in it. We tow a jeep. At any rate, my husband HATES it much like I all cap. love it. I have decided to go it alone, but have yet to try. I have only limited driving experience but I was the one to park it. I am trying to get up the nerve to make my first small trip soon. I am also thinking of trading down to something smaller. It's a bit much for one. Live in Florida and have a cat name of Kikki.

Welcome to the forum. We have several ladies whose husbands don't like to travel so they go by themselves or take along a friend. If its just going to be you it might be easier to drive something smaller especially if you're only doing short trips and not fulltiming. Feel free to just jump right in.

Welcome, Tallulah! Glad to have you with us. There are many women on here who have and drive a rig your size. Then there are many of us who prefer smaller. But don't trade down until you know for sure that's what you want to do. I will say, if you can park it, driving it will be the easier job. It's expensive to change your mind after :) That said, if it is what you'd prefer - go for it!

Lots of us spend time in FL off and on - many live in FL. We just had a gtg there in Jan. I left FL a couple days ago and will be in PA this time next week.

Join in where ever you'd like. And we are a nosy bunch - so feel free to share as much as you'd like - with pictures if you desire. (There's info on how to post pics on the forum in the maintenance/tech room if you need it - and always feel free to ask if you need to.)

Welcome aboard..... you will figure it out. Try the big bus, if you aren't comfortable downsize. "Comfortable" driving means that you will jump in and drive more often :) :) :) And as you probably have already found out, size makes for different choices when it comes to parks and campgrounds.....no right or wrong ones...just different ones. Oh, and we would love to come along the journey of discovery with you.....let us know!

Welcome! I suspect you will do fine driving it. I also think that some of the "LOVING" it stems from the rig itself...they are wonderful, but your call in what is right for you. When I found out my husband didn't LOVE it I traded in the husband instead of the rig.....oh, I am awful, just being silly, he's a fine fellow, far as I can remember.

Welcome Tallulah to our forum...as I read about you and how you rate those grands, if you decide you can handle the large MH, you can take them all occasionally. Hopefully there are some old enough to help out with little ones. My ex and I had a mh of same size and truthfully, I never even considered keeping it in the settlement. I had a 24' foot mh that suited me to a T...I like being able to park anywhere, take off on a moment's notice so he kept the big one but I lived in it for a few months and loved it plus we made some unforgettable trips in it. We got along great while on the road but the problems surfaced when back to real life. I begged him to make the traveling our real life but as happens with so many, minds wouldn't meet.
Keep us updated on your decisions, send us pictures too.

Welcome Tallulah! What Allegro (bus, phaeton??) do you have? I'm sure it's a beautiful coach. I have a 35' diesel class A. I was very apprehensive on my first trip out but sure felt like I accomplished it. If you can park it, you can drive it and driving is more fun because you are way up enjoying great scenery. My twin grandbabies are only 1 so they are not quite ready to travel in the MH yet but they will be!!

Enjoy,
Linda
