COLD WEDNESDAY MORNING

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

COLD WEDNESDAY MORNING

Postby Colliemom » Wed Jan 05, 2011 7:20 am

Good Morning Everyone,

A cold start to this 5th day of January, here at the 45th. Temps is around 2 degrees above, so it must be clear out there. Too dark to see yet. But we have had a little snow these past couple of days. Maybe a couple of inches or so. Will shovel off the deck later on today and prepare for more. Forecast calls for heavier snows coming in later tonight and especially Thursday into Friday. But as is the norm with lake effect snow, the wind direction will dictate who gets dumped on good and who doesn't.

I've been up and at em these first few days of the New Year. Picked up the house a bit, put stuff away, threw some stuff out with the trash, running errrands in town, mostly gathering more goodies for the next section of my scrapbook. Have my co worker who owns a printing shop looking to see if he can make me a Michigan shaped decal or outline or something to mount on one of my beginning pages since all my camping trips were in Michgan this past year. I'm three quarters of the way through putting the scrapbook together. Am at the point where this next section will take a little time cause of the amuont of pictures I took last year at Fayette State Park. It's a historical state park, so there was a fair amount of pictures to take. Having fun with this scrapbook and it really passes the time.

And of course therer have been the daily dog walk duties. They won't let that get away. They know when it's time and.... Havng lost our snow for the most part this past weekend, we have been walking back into the woods here and yesterday we went over o the park for awhile. The roads around here (side roads) are a bit icy from a recent plowing, but also sanded, so we have kind of been avoiding walking on them right now.

So this morning as soon as it's light enough and the banks open, I will be in town doing some banking, doing grocery shopping and stopping by the printing place to see what my co worker dug up yesterday. Get all this done, so when the snows come again tonight through Friday, I can just stay home and watch it fall. Also want to make sure I have enough letters etc., to finish off my scrapbook. I pick up stuff as I go along, since this is my first book and I am learning as I go and getting ideas as I go.

But from the sounds of the forum and Mornng Coffee posts etc., everybody's been busy since the New Year. Soos had a whopping New Years Eve, the rest of us laid low for the most part.

Alice is keeping the economy going with all here repairs, dentist visits etc.. Alice, your dog will calm down in time. As you bond more, the time will come when you will notice a difference. With all the repair people coming and going, might be making her nervous and excitied too.

Kathaleen, your dog mght have an allergy to a plant down there. My neighbors Golden has a severe skin itch too and I looked it up once on the web to see what can cause dog's to scratch so much and possible treataments etc. I do remember reading about some type of plant that is a big cause of it and that Florida has a lot of it. But I can't remember what it was. Also, sorry to hear that the park you are in is up for sale. That happens a lot down there unfortunately. Maybe the new owners will infuse some money into it and things will improve.

I'm a few pages behind reading the Campfire posts here, so will have to catch up and get back in the loop, and read through the welcomes to see who's all new here.

So I am off to start this day rolling. Breakfast is in tummy so now have dishes to wash, bed to make and get organized to head out in awhile here. Have a wonderful day everyone.

GOOD MORNING SUE AND EVERYONE!

What is that new picture in your signature, Sue? Those little postage stamp thingies we use for signature pics require a magnifying glass for my eye lenses that refuse to focus up close any more!

I just checked the tracking number for my new phone from Tracfone, and it's already in Orlando! They might get it on the truck to deliver to me today instead of tomorrow. It will take a while to charge it before I activate it and, hopefully, get my prepaid units transfered to it. The only time I miss it at all is when I am traveling on all these traffic-laden highways and might need to make a call for help if I get bashed. Accidents happen here like hangnails! I do have double minutes for life on it, too, whoever mentioned that.

It's still warm out there by my usual January standards---in the mid 50s it feels like. It is overcast, and I am really hoping for a good soaking rain. Everything down here is so parched and water-deprived. Molly is out in the screen room, staring down the squirrels that are trying to get onto my roof and into my attic via the soffits they have chewed through. My next job, when I get enough money, is to screen in those soffits again and put hardware cloth with small squares over them all. I need to buy wirecutters and the hardware cloth as I already have the heavy-duty stapler. I just hope they don't decide to then go through the roof instead!

I haven't needed to use the furnace or AC here for a few weeks now, as the temperatures have been about perfect, and I am able to open my glass doors all day long. It's this time of year when the snow is burying my woodpiles back home and the temperatures seem to plummet that I felt so unable to do anything but try to stay warm and go to work. Here, I can go walking, go biking, do some yard work, repairs outside, and whatever. Also, there are some people around some of the time to talk to now and then!

Alice I see that you are pretty much maintaining your status quo with those repair jobs! I am looking forward to meeting you soon!

Time to get some more coffee, read my email, pay some bills, and see what to do next!

Happy Wednesday to all.

Happy travels!

Good Morning all, it is cloudy here and looks like I'm going to be doing inside chores. The dogs will be so happy if I get their favorite toy (the vacuum) out. I'm worried about Winnie she threw up about 5 times in a row, but then went to the utility room to see if I had left her a snack! Will keep an eye on her and give her a little chicken and rice later. Dogs faces are so expressive and I can see in her eyes she doesn't feel good.
Soos I hope your phone comes today and that transferring your unused minutes will not be difficult. I'm going to Google the bird and fish kill to see if anyone has any theories or reasonable answers yet. It does sound very strange.

It's just above 70 here in Florida and today is chore day...if I can ever get my butt off the sofa. Need to change the bed linens, do laundry, pay bills...you know, that stuff that never goes away. LOL! Tomorrow we have lunch planned with friends but this weekend looks nice but a bit cooler.

Good Morning from cloudy McIntosh... we have many choices this morning so I went to all of them...
They did not have the extended stay parts in at the RV place so will check again today...
I got the tiny tiny bedroom all finished yesterday... I used orange glow on the wood... it smells so so so good... and took the rake broom to the carpet... two tiny patches one at the end of the bed and on one side... real real hard worker here  believe me next year I will bring my Oreck!!!... the tiny vac I bought with me does not have a rotating brush so I wind up raking the floor... the hair is awful... guess I need to shave shadow... oh that would be bad...
I trust you are all having a great day...

Our beautiful weather of yesterday has changed to a cold rain today. A good day for staying inside.

Got my CT results back. The aneurysm is small so it gets added to the list of those things "to be rechecked" frequently. What a relief!

Garage is slowly drying out from New Years Day flood. I've started work on clean up. So far nothing that had to be tossed was of any consequence and I've discovered a few treasures I'd forgotten. Hopefully have also learned my lesson that nothing should be stored in cardboard boxes, especially on the floor.

Soos - I'm so glad that you are getting to enjoy some of the FL winter weather.
BJ - Keep us posted on the fur baby.
Kathleen - Have you had any luck finding a more appealing park yet?

Going to take me a while to catch up on forum again but want to extend a warm welcome to al the new comers. I promise to get over to read intros soon.

Have a safe and warm day.

A late "good-morning" from sunny Southern California. Soos, I am the one who suggested the Double Minutes Plan. A great plan! When I left my phone behind and called to transfer my minutes, they asked me how many minutes I thought I had. I just guessed (on the high side) and that is what they gave me. I did get my original phone back, so now I want to transfer my minutes back to that one since I really like that phone better than the one I have now.

Don't have to work until later today, so getting a few things done here. I have been having some intestinal issues going on for the past couple days. Wonder if I picked something up at the parade last weekend? Thank God for Immodium!

Soos, I also totally understand about feeling "stuck" in the frozen tundra this time of year, and now being able to get outside and do whatever, because of the nice weather. That is why I moved out here. I felt like I was wasting 5 months of my life every year hybernating, instead of being able to get out and do things and go places all year long! I love it!

New job is still going well! Great customers! Good tips! Nice atmosphere! Can't wait for those bigger checks to start rolling in! Will take a couple months to get completely caught up financially, but then I should have extra moola to take more day trips and actually be able to buy a meal and some souveniers on those trips! (It is very hard for me NOT to buy food and trinkets when I travel! Just ask Linda!)

Have a good day!

Update on Winne, I gave her a little chicken and rice this morning and she hasn't been sick again. She had a light lunch as she was making it clear she was hungry. So far all is well. I always worry especially about her as she is so little she could dehydrate quickly.
Sarah I'm glad you got your CT results back, the waiting is hard. Hopefully the aneurysm will remain small!!
Barbie hope your feeling better, Winnie says she will share her chicken and rice.

You're walking around with an aneurysm??? Are there things you're not supposed to do, or maybe things to do? Can it heal itself, given time???
Wow. You've been having a string a crappy luck now for a while!

HELLO SISTAHS!!!

Running late today. Almost said this 'morning'. Have been sleeping like a log lately, I'm loving it! It's better than only getting 6hrs a night.

There is still snow and lots of ice outside but boy oh boy is that sun warm! YAY! Have been outside twice with Shade and both times wore my heavy winter coat. By goodness next time I go out that door I will either have on one of the lighter weight fleece jackets or none at all. One of the waterlines here sprung a leak yesterday. I thought it might just be the TT's water hook-up so I went over to check. Nope, it was the fitting that had cracked. So talked to the manager and let her know. She said that Brent the maintenance man was on his way home and would be here in a few minutes. He had to shut the water off to the whole park this time. But at least it was a real quick fix. All is good. One of the TT's here sprung a really bad leak last week and the manager had to shut their water off to the TT as the "leak" was coming out from under the trailer. The people have been gone for about a week now and apparently didn't leave any heat running in the TT. They just got home about 30min ago. I don't even want to think of the mess they have got to have inside. The deep freeze we had really messed with the water supply here and all of us too! So glad it's warming up again. 30's and 40's are no problem to handle, but 14 below!!!

Gonna try today to get the truck moved and turned around so that the sun can work at cleaning off the windshield of snow and ice. That will be a whole lot better than starting it up and letting it run!! I'll start it and let it warm up, maybe 5min, to get the oil pumped all the way thru then see if I can put it in gear and not have it quit on me! Will for sure be keeping my fingers crossed!!

OK, enough. Got to go check out what all you have been up to and doing since last night! Hope ya'll have a good day and do so safely!!!

Love to all

Sarah, where is the aneurysm? My second cousin has one in his chest that he has had for many years and he is fine. Also know of a woman who has had a brain aneurysm for many years and she is also doing well. As long as it is checked on regularly, you shouldn't need to worry about it (easier said than done!). I think I would stay away from real strenuous activities tho! No jumping out of airplanes, bungy jumping, heavy weighlifting, or 4 wheeling over big boulders! (I know, that takes all the fun out life, but you gotta do what you gotta do! )

Thanks ladies. It s an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Really frightening at first but I've since learned more about them so am feeling much better about having to live with it. Not too much in the way of restrictions Barbie - sky diving and bungy jumping were not all that high on my near term to do list and I'd already decided to leave the boulder climbing to Sharon.

I could not walk like he does can just keep upright myself... but at least we could visit when he is in camp... then I will be going to the GTG an a couple of weeks... that will be great for sure...
We have had a lot of rain today... and some hail...
