Rain-X

I bet most of you have already had this epiphany!! But, I bought some Rain-X to put on the inside of my glass shower doors as I knew it will prevent the buildup they always get. I have done this for years in my home, etc. But once I got done spraying the shower I thought, "what the heck!" I'll try it on my windows to see if it reduces the condensation....Oh Yes, it sure does. Just spray it on and gently wipe with a soft rag or paper towel.

My parents did that in their Rv with a similar produce decades ago, likely a forerunner to Rain-X. Of course, it's magnificent on your car windshield too.

I think you can get it at any car parts place and also I think I've seen it at Walmart/Kmart/Target as well, in the auto departments.

Yes, Rain-X is in all those stores that Barbzee said, in the auto section. It comes in giant gallongs, small packets but the best is to buy it in the typical-sized spray bottle.

I have heard some people use it in the toilet to keep 'stuff' from sticking. Have to redo it occasionally.

Now that's a new one. Bet it works, though. Too bad we can't miraculously get it into the black tanks.

I put water softner, "Calgon" (laundry detergent works just as well and is easier to find in the stores) and "Pinesol" into the black tank. that way the sides of the tank are coated with the slippery water softner and the toilet paper and junk gets coated with it so it doesn't stick ( you know how slippery detergent feels on your hands when you happen to get some wet. I found that trick on line and it sure does work. Anyway, after every dump I put two cups of Calgon or detergent in the tank and one cup of pinesol....I don't buy the regular chemicals.

I put 1 cup of detergent into the gray tank so stuff doesn't stick in there either.

I just read that it's better to use "Rubbing Alchohol" instead of bleach for the occasional sanitizing of the fresh water tank because bleach is hard on the seals and anything else that can deteriorate in there...makes sense to me.

The "Sultan" discovered the many uses of Rain-X a few years back....toilet bowl gets sprayed once every couple of months.....windows on the truck, of course, and he also sprays the satellite dish with it. We've had satellite service for over 10 yrs. (way before becoming full-timers) when we lived in the cold and snowy north...PA....it helps with keeping the snow from clinging to the dish and of course makes the rain roll right off it. ( Snow will interfere with the signal).... And since he now shaves his already balding head, he tells folks he uses it to keep it shiny, too.... (NOT!!! he just likes to see the reactions on people's faces.....)

LOL...I have to laugh Lori because I think the Sultan likes to watch people's reactions to many of his comments and antics.....He does know how to have fun.

I'm sitting here watching The Sultan spray the Rain-X on his head. Lori says it's a joke but I believe him - I mean, he likes the rain it repels rain then. He can walk next to Lori and no umbrella needed - he's thre rain repeller I'm just enjoying the pictures in my mind a little too much here.

Me, I simply put my dirty dish water down the black tank occasionally - the problem with the black tank more than the grey is that it doesn't get that soap, etc, to keep the sides, etc from getting sticky - so any soap will usually do the trick. Then, occasionally when moving will put a bag of ice into the empty tank. Driving to my next location - the tank is always clean and the sensors always back working properly.

Are you being serious about the ice down the toilet? Supposedly the black tank on this RV doesn't have the sensors that poke inside the tank. But I'm open to each and every suggestion for keeping that blank tank as clean as possible. Never heard of the ice trick before. Do you just put the ice down the toilet with the slide thingee open? Just pour it in and that's it??? And do you do this only when you're planning on driving? I'm guessing the ice clumps clean the sides as it sloshes around...before it all melts? Doesn't seem like it would last very long...but what do I know...I'm one of the newbies...
