BUTTES, BUTTES.. NOT BUTTS!!! You guys need to get your mind out of the gutter!
Don't have the slightest idea why they're called Cougar Buttes altho if you have a good imagination (NO Carolyn, not that good of an imagination!!!) some of the rocks look like animals. We saw one that looked like a wolf, but the sun was in the wrong spot to get a good picture. Or maybe at some time there was a cougar in the area, who knows. I only know that it's beautiful and had a great time hiking with the furbabies.

@Sharon...yeah, you need a jeep, but where are you gonna put it??? :D Those aren't exactly freeway friendly, if you know what I mean. This one gets transported in the toy trailer or car trailer. Fine for a little jaunt around town, tho.

This is actually pretty mild compared to what we usually do...We're going to Nevada for the Hump and Bump run next month. I'll post pictures when we get back. I do a lot of walking and picture taking on that run.

I have a big question----who brings all the equipment to make those important repairs out there in the middle of nowhere? I would LOVE to have a jeep here to replace my poor Sidekick that bit the dust last winter when my son and his buddies drove it to death in 4 feet of snow! Though I would NEVER dare to drive a vehicle over those rocky slopes out there, it sure would make a terrific trail vehicle for this property.

Thanks for the pics!

All of the guys carry tools and parts with them and what one guy may not have, another one usually will. Plus most of them, including us, have on-board air compressors and welders under the hood. BF took the back seat out and put a large metal box there to carry his tools and stuff. He has 3 jeeps and none of them have a back seat. It's very seldom that they can't fix a vehicle good enough to at least limp back to camp, altho there have been times we've had to winch and tow one back. Thankfully, not us, he's always been able to get us fixed enough to get back. It's not a sport for anyone that doesn't know how to work on these things. A stock 4X4 jeep would work perfectly for you, Soos, or for that matter, any vehicle that is 4X4 or all wheel drive, or even with a 1 or 2" lift kit on it.

Not a hobby for me, but would love the place and watching the rest of the idiots. Um, I mean the wonderful people who like that hobby :)

I corrected myself and called you a "wonderful person" because you are. If my g/f the wonderful person also happens to be an idiot .....
