Also checked mapquest, it's only 75 miles to Hot Springs, so I'm gonna plan a tentative day trip there and can take 4 people in the jeep. In case any of us feel the need for a little soak to get rid of the stomach cramps from laughing!

Yippee, we're home and have fast cable internet again so here's the pics I took at Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas.

When I explained to the lady in the office what we were wanting to do she listed these sites as available for Monday Sept. 13th, vacating site on Friday Sept. 17th, some sites are available the weekend before, some are available the weekend after, you'll just have to ask. Also, when I went back to the office to reserve our site, I asked about the site that Mitch reserved and it was also available, so that makes me think that she just stopped listing the available sites at #20, especially since Sharon got site#22. So, depending if you want by us, or by the bathroom or where ever, I'd still ask if a particular site is available even if I didn't list it here. Understand that?

These are all in Area A, they are Full Hookups, Areas B and C have water and electric and there is also an overflow area, cabins & a lodge.

The site #19 that we have for the GTG week wasn't available until Monday, but I wanted to get there the weekend before to rest up so we will be in Site #8 (handicap site) Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

There is an Auto Museum just a little over a mile east of the park and there are many different things to do and see in the park.

We came north from Lake Catherine State Park in Hot Springs to Oppelo and turned west there on Hwy 154. If you take that road either from Hot Springs or down from I-40 be aware that there is a one mile stretch right before the park that is very, very steep and lots of sharp curves/switchbacks. I talked to a man who said he wished he had our truck when he came up it because he was driving a Chevy Avalanche, towing a 21ft. tt and wasn't sure he was gonna make it up. He also said that he unhooked and went west to Centerville for fuel and there were two switchbacks, but wasn't the steep climb that was east of the park. Just some info that may help.

You did good, Mz. Vickie, those sites are really nice! Yeah, as far as reservations, I originally asked for Monday arrival, but after the nice guy got all of the info, I asked him if the site was available for the w/e too, and he very nicely changed it. I see everyone has their antennas up, guess I won't be getting satelite there either. Sigh. Oh well, guess you guys are just gonna have to keep me busy enough I don't get tv withdrawal! Getting excited and it's months away!

Sharon, with your site and Mitch's site along the north/south road, you should be able to point your satellite to the south and get a signal.

Janet, hope you can make it!! We chose the week of Sept.13 because it will be cooler than summer, but hopefully Sharon won't get caught in the snow like last year's GTG. But then again, if it's snowing, she could just follow us back to LA!

Janet, originally the GTG was going to be at Lake Catherine State Park, in Hot Springs, but when I was there, they had already booked the sites for that week and the week before and the week after they were having a big concert/balloon thing (lots of crowds in town). So we switched to Petit Jean State Park, just about 75 miles north of Hot Springs and just south of I-40.

Just so people without RV's who want to come, have more options than the Rent-a-tepees, cabins or lodges, I did a search for hotel/motel rooms in the area.

I would love to come down there, but depends on my situation by then. Could I just pitch a tent on one of your sites (share the cost) or would I need my own site for that? Can you picture 3 dufuses all in one place?? At least I am not a trouble-maker so I can't be blamed for any damage or injuries incurred

All the sites have a tent spot also. I think you can have 1rv and 1 tent or two tents to a spot.
