Glad Roe's on all 4 - was about to come ask and decided I should check this thread. Can't wait to see Roe on the trails here. Hope he's all ready for them!

I have a funny (kind of) story about those cones and Moxie (remember Moxie?) She could not wear a cone. One vet, after removing a broken claw, told me "Sure she can". I told them they could try and after 15 minutes with it on her, let me know. It didn't make it 15 minutes. Moxie hated wearing anything - except her collar which she hated being without, go figure. She would beat her head against all surfaces to get the collar off. She has cracked two (at 2 different vets - this was the 2nd) and was in the process of giving herself a concussion when they said they couldn't chance it. She also wouldn't leave any bandage on - would have it off before leaving the vets. They finally decided she had to be allowed to heal on her own. Without the cone or bandages, I could keep her from licking the areas - usually. Luckily she always healed, because she was known for cracking and breaking claws.

So, I'm glad that Roe handled the cone better than Moxie ever did. I hope Peaches never needs one, but if she does, I hope she handles it. Both vets told me they had never seen anything like it. Well, what would you expect from a dog of mine?

Well my bad. I took him for a walk without the cone & he did so well I decided to leave it off a few minutes when we got home. Soon as I got distracted he sneaked into the other room and had at it....almost got the staple out and caused a little bleeding. Looks ok now, but no more collar off until the staple gets pulled Monday & the vet says ok...he may have to leave it on awhile longer.

I’ve got no cone so I have fun, licking my paw with my tongue.
I’ve had a cone, but now I’m free, There is no cone on me!

Oh, Liz, I am so glad Roe is up to hiking with you. Looks like Bandit was totally wore out before the walk. Such tough lives for those two!!
