Good morning Lori and all the others too! I know you have a lot on your mind & plate right now, Lori, so it's nice of you to take time to open the kitchen for us. Hope your sister is mending quickly and that your mom will be able to settle in there easily. Change can be difficult, I know, even for those who are not already confused.

Warm and humid here in Ocala this morning and a little rain expected later today. But no rain expected at St. Augustine Beach which is where I'm headed this afternoon.

Been packing the motorhome, woohoo. Roe knows....he's following me around. Bandit is staying home this time, since it's only one night. I found out that, while dogs aren't allowed on the beach inside the State Park, the county beaches are dog friendly and are within walking distance just outside the park. So that's the plan. Instead of leaving the park Sat. a.m. to visit my friend in Velano Beach, she and her dog will meet us at the park & walk to the beach.

So that's my plan for today and tomorrow. I'll post a few pics when I get home.

Sounds as if there is no grass growing under your feet, Lori. :) So wonderful that you and Barb can support each other. Hope the move with your mom goes okay....I know how hard changes in routines and environments can be....

I am sitting here listening to the sound of hammers...the roof is on the "Pottery Shed" and the sides may start to go up if the weather holds. The dogs still spend too much energy thinking they have to "protect" us from the workers. Some times they are quiet but there seems to always be at least one that wants to remind the men the they better not try to cross the yard and come into their "run"......so they are spending more time inside and the potty breaks are shorter. Still slowly working through my list of "things to do" FUnny about that list, as things come off the top...others seem to be added. But only a few things actually have a "time stamp" so to say...so I will pick and chose and off we go....

Be safe, I've seen those pictures of SNOW in Colorado.....be as warm or a cool as you want to be......and have some good adventures everyday!

Good morning all!

I'm here in my classroom, supposedly getting ready for the day. I get going with lots of vim and vigor, only to get here and find myself sitting. I have a conference at 7:20, and 2 more after school today, and then I'm done. Only 3 no-shows -- pretty good for an upper grade classroom. They'll be sent a letter by the Principal to reschedule, so the ball's in their court.

It's getting chilly at night and I love it! Actually had to put a lightweight down blanket on the bed last night, much to my cats' delight. They snuggle right up next to me and we all stay warm and toasty.

Some time this weekend I'm heading up to apple country. There are 2 main places in the So. CA area to get apples, and one of them is about 90 min. from here. It's great to get up into the hills, sample all sorts of apples, and try to imagine fall. Sometimes the weather's cool, but this weekend's looking like it'll be in the 80s. While I know that some of you in the northern climates would kill for that right about now, I'm ready for some cooler weather -- I like fall! It'll be here soon enough, though.

I should be hearing from the insurance company today about a settlement for Jed. The woman I've been dealing with is about as distasteful as they come, talking out of both sides of her mouth. She had a conversation with Jed's vet yesterday after we had a rather heated discussion about me having to do her job, so hopefully she'll finish things now that she's gotten all the information she said she needed. Keep your fingers crossed. I know they're going to pay, but it's just a matter of how much. I'm not asking for damages (a new word in my vocabulary), but just the expenses I've incurred and then an "allowance" for his future care related to the poisoning. Nothing unreasonable, but insurance companies aren't known for being reasonable. I just want the whole thing to be over. Jed, however, is doing just fine. He's full of spit and vinegar and makes me smile. It's scary how much I love him ...

I hope everyone's Friday is good, and you all enjoy your day.

Hello from Texas, kind of overcast today. This will be my first day to begin to really settle in here. My traveling pal headed up to Dallas to visit family and then will fly home to CA. It's quiet, but nice. My water heater went out while in CA so got that replaced...major $$$$....and then a call that they forgot to install a code required timer...more $$$$. Also have several tiles raising in bedroom, not sure who I will call about that. Oh well, that's life and I'm not complaining, just saying! For now, I'm going out for a looong walk, just around the 'hood for now and will go out on the lake trail later today.

Lori, glad to hear all is going smoothly for you and family.

Hi to the N Rim.....what's the weather like today? has the snow melted? :)

Greetings everyone! Overcast here and dreary,..... like living in the bottom of a boot. Maybe November will be prettier. I hope those that are on the roads today are doing well and those that are not at least having good weather!

Good to hear from you, Lori,....

Good morning all!

So good to hear from you, Lori, and am so glad you and your sister have each other for support, memories, and comforting. It will be a good thing for your mom to be able to live with Barb, even though she might complain at first. You and Barb need to feel comfortable, as well as your mom.

Laura, I smile when I read that Jed is more and more like his old self! I would like to give some acolades to that vet group that saved his life and his personality, as well. The insurance companies always seem to hire ogres to do their researching/questioning, and whatever----I suppose it intimidates so many people who just back off eventually. It is clear and evident that the campgorund insurance should pay for EVERY bit of the vet bills you have incurred, and for any future ones (hopefully there won't be any, but....) related to the poisoning incident. How simple can that be?

I have a friend who lives in southern CA who also goes to the 'highlands' for apples at this time of year---I wonder if you two live close together? She is a member of my birthmom group and we have met several times over the years. Her address is Santa Ana. Would be funny if you were neighbors!

Lucky Liz is off to one of my most favorite places in FL---St. Augustine Beach area! Have a wonderful weekend on that beautiful sand!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Lori, been thinking lots about you lady. Glad to hear that things are getting back to somewhat normal for you. How's Ernie and Spinner (did I get that right?) been doing without Mom home to take care of them?

Supposed to rain all weekend here. GD has a busy weekend with a party next door tonight, tomorrow night she will go with her mom to the shore for Halloween and return on Sunday evening. So, while she is away, I'm going to work on getting my kitchen and dining room ready to be painted. UGH. But, it needs done and will look sooo much better once I'm finished. Started pulling wallpaper off one wall last night and have a ton of "stuff" on top of the cabinets that has to come off and be cleaned! UGH.

Chatted with Zeee earlier and she is trying to stay cool and boiling water for another couple of days yet. She's still playing with her new camera, learning to take videos and post them so hopefully we'll see some soon.

Hope everyone has a great day. If you are in the cold, stay warm and if you are in the heat, go cool off. Liz, St. Augustine sounds like a good weekend to me! I'm looking forward to pictures. (hint hint)

I started out this morning in shorts but if I went out now I would need a coat. The temperature has dropped about 20 degrees and the wind is blowing hard so it feels colder. I was going to my sisters today but since it is raining from here to there think I will wait until in the morning. I sure hope we don't get the amount of rain they have received West and North of here. I think I am all ready to go. Will see in the morning how many trips to the motorhome it will take to get me on the road.

Yep, Martha we got lots of rain on this side of LA! And it's still raining, 3 inches overnight and I haven't checked it lately. Therefore we canceled our trip to FL for the lift install and will reschedule. It was Oct.2006 when we left for CO and got the call of 8in of water in the house and we are both nervous wrecks worried that this flooding may be another bad one. All the ditches are full, ground is saturated, rain from up north is gonna flow down here and to top it off they have opened the gates on the Toledo Bend Dam sending more water down here. We just couldn't leave at this time. Keep us in your prayers, ladies. We do have flood insurance, but don't know if I can handle starting over again.

Well, it's afternoon now here in sunny central tx. I was a bit on the tired side yesterday as I took down all mom's curtains in the house, washed them, and the windows and began to put them back. (wonder why my back was hurting last night). Today I'm finishing the window washing and hanging the last of the curtains. I feel SOO righteous! ! ! And, guess what? We can see OUT now! haha! I don't think these things had been done in decades! Poor mama and daddy. They aren't able and are too "tight" to hire it done,, so,, i guess i'm elected! More of my "payin' for my raisin'" ! anyway.....

It was in the 50's when I was outside yesterday, but today it has warmed up into at least the high 60's or maybe even 70.. I haven't really checked. But I'm in shorts and a t shirt..(yeah I know,, ms hot box!). I feel so lazy in summer. I refuse to do this kind of work when it's warm. But i'm on a roll now.. so,, long as my back holds out,, Ill be climing up and down ladders w/ curtains and /or a bottle of windex in one hand and a roll of paper towels in the other
!

Wish me luck!

love ya'll.....

Hey, ladies!
I"m late getting in here. More and more I'm reading the forum on my iPhone, but it's a bear to try posting from it, so I wait until I can sit down at the computer.

I just saw on the news about all the torrential rain in the LA /GA states. How scary. Yes, keep safe everyone in that area.

Barbzeee thanks for the reply on the popcorn. Darn and double darn!

Lori, so good to see you posting and glad you can be there to continue to help your Sis and Mom. I'm sure you are in need of some R&R though, as it's been quite a taxing couple weeks for you. Stay strong and continued prayers being said.

Laura, glad to hear Jed is his old self again. How sweet that must feel for you as well as for him. Poor guy. Hope the $$ situation gets straightened out to your satisfaction soon.

Paulette, take your time. Those walls aren't going anywhere! Enjoy your time with family above all else.
I got a call from my DD and tomorrow after the soccer games her family was suppose to go to a Halloween party at their friend's, but their friend has the flu so it looks like they will come here instead! They use to come here for Trick or Treating every year but last year the girls decided that it was more fun at their friend's house. :( So now I'm pumped!! :D  It's suppose to be raining at soccer time so I'm sure afterward we will all be chilled to the bone, so I'm going to have a big o pot of stew and hot bread. I love comfort food!

Stay safe, warm and dry to all those in the storm areas.

I just said a little prayer that you don't flood.
And I was going to post an underwater/swimming Smiley, but decided against it.
It's not funny.
So, instead, I'll just throw you a little lifeline...

Isn't Mitch a sweety, Vicky? ;) :?

Seriously, you all are in my prayers, that no flooding will happen in your area. What a terrible feeling it must be to go through that and rain keeps coming.
Keep us posted, take care, Hi to that nice looking fella there!! Really hate also you had to postpone your lift appointment. More GTG coming up, you all need that.
God Bless,

Safe and Happy travels
