WEDNESDAY NUMBER ONE IN SEPTEMBER

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

WEDNESDAY NUMBER ONE IN SEPTEMBER

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

39 degrees here today, nice and crystal clear sky out there. Cedar has another perfect day to camp! I hadn't thought about using my oil-filled heater to stay warm in the trailer when I'm at a campsite with power, but that would be a great addition.

Talked to Ace Hardware about chimney prospects yesterday....unbelievable cost to get this chimney up to code, or to install another triple-layered pipe altogether out through a wall of the house. To have anybody else install the inside one, cost would be about $2500...just for the pipe, cap, wrap and labor! To have anyone else do the outside pipe, which would be extremely risky at best due to the pitch of my steel roof and the weight of wet snow that thunders off it all winter, would be about $4500. Needless to say, having a pro company install anything is out of the question for me.

However, I did learn that they now have a stainless steel flexible stove pipe, designed to go over ledges and around corners with no riveting of elbows, etc. SOOOOO......I am going to order a length of that enough to go at least half way up my fireplace chimney, and, after someone---maybe my daughter or her guy or my son----cleans out the flue by ramming the steel brush up and down it, I will reattach the stove as I have done for over 30 years now. And that will be that. To be up to code, that pipe has to go to top of chimney, be wrapped all along its length with some kind of wrap, and have a cap installed on the top of it. POOOH to that. That's my plan. It will be wonderful not to have to deal with all those elbows and screws and rivets to keep the pipe together while fitting it around the smoke shelf. Now I just need to estimate how long a length of that pipe I will need.....I'll shove a steel tape measure up as high as I want it to go.

Coffee tastes good, and I turned on some heat using my Monitor heater as it was around 58 in here when I came in from trailer. One mouse this morning, bringing total to 20 now.

Kids come to school today, and we have our first assembly this morning. It will be interesting to meet my new kids I will be working with. They are high school kids with various degrees of learning disabilities. One student has Aspberger's Syndrome, and loves science---my favorite subject----so we should have some fun in Science classes. He will probably be teaching me! There are only 6 kids and three of us to teach them. I will be following students to various classes, as they are attempting to include them in regular classes with help from me.

Pull up a chair, and let us know what's up in your world----will check back in after school this afternoon. Happy Wednesday to you all.

Happy travels!

Good morning all from Lake Norfork in Mountain Home, AR. The mist is hanging on to the lake and I can hear a boat trolling somewhere out there. Cool, in the 50's this am and a high in the 70's today. What a relief from the weather we left in Tampa. Our friends came over last night to bring us the key to their pontoon ?) boat so we can go out while they work. The lake temperature has dropped in the last few days, so don't know if I will jump in. Soos, sounds like you have found a good solution and hope all works out. I taught LD kids for 30 years, but never had such a small group-especially in high school. Most of those classes were 15 and up although in elementary, some groups were only 8-10. In the last few years, especially with the budget cuts, I did go into some classes, but we had to pick the right kids for that type of setting, depending on the severity of their disabilities. When in high school, I did co-teach an English class which worked out great. Have fun and enjoy the kids. Science is a great place because they tend to do a lot of hands on experiments. Sometimes, I really miss teaching-well the kids anyways-not the paperwork. :D OK, off to get ready for another day. Enjoy yours. carold

good morning ladies,
I finally had a restful, good nights sleep. What a difference air conditioning makes,
but of course no surprize when its so hot. Now I can get back to a normal existence,
although everything that hasn't gotten done over the past week, like routine chores
and the extra laundry, well it needs to get done now, so will spend the evening doing
extra, and it really can't wait til Saturday. Wish I could call in sick but I just can't do
that, they don't have a driver to cover my run, and since its a holiday weekend, they
have already said no one is taking off thursday and friday, although some still do, its
just not me to do stuff like that. I'm always there doing my job and saving up my sick time for hospital emergencies. Right now I've got 6 weeks built up :D
ok, enough idle chit chat, ya'll have a good day and be safe.

Today??? I veg. My furbaby thinks I've forgotten him these past few days with getting everything settled with Little Missy. Although I do need a few groceries it will keep. I won't starve and I feel a morning nap coming on already.

Soos, so glad you found that flexible pipe! Ava, one cool chick now, huh?

School starts today in our area, too. I think the kids are ready. I know my GDs are!

Have a blessed day everyone!

Soos, it sounds like you will have a good last year. (Just don't like it too much  )

Ava, don't fret about doing chores. When it's that hot without AC who even cares about cleaning. The dust, etc will wait, after all where does it want to go it's already there.

Carol enjoy your time on the lake, sounds great.

Lenora, rest up you have a lot of camping to get in now that you have the RV. By the way, WHERE ARE THE PICTURES??? Sorry to yell, just sitting here waiting.

Everyone, enjoy your day. Linda
