Summers going fast!

Postby Echo » Mon Aug 31, 2009 6:34 pm

HELLO SISTAHS!!!!

Boy is the summer going fast! Whew I can hardly believe that tomorrow is the 1st of September. Good Grief. :o

Haven't been online hardly at all as for whatever reason the internet is sucky for me! :?: I get so frustrated and disgusted that I don't even want to bother. So in the evenings I sit and read, do crossword puzzles or even color. I found my coloring books and sharpened all my colored pencils down here in the Lodge. About drove Sparkle nuts with the sharpening of 52 pencils!!!  The past 2 days the internet connection has been really good. Why??? I have no idea. But I have been taking advantage of it.

Our season ends October 31st. I find it so hard to believe that we have been here 4 months!!! And only another 2 months to go. What a learning curve this has been. What new found respect I have learned for housekeepers it's amazing!!!! They keep asking if we are coming back next year?? Have really no idea yet. We just might as at least they offer housing here and don't mind Shade. So if nothing else knocks at our door we will probably need to work here again next year.

Joined Workamper. com and have been trying to look for the next job. Not having a lot of luck at all. Mostly the internet connection is at fault. But Kelly has been checking my email for me when she can get connected and haven't seen anything we can really use. It's a major stumbling block not having our own TT. There's lots of jobs for those with their own rig. And then of course there is Shade to consider too. A lot of places wont accept pets. Well I sure the he77 am not getting rid of her. Sell a kid first! LOL We have also been checking out coolworks.com looking for the next job. They have jobs offered with dorm style housing. :P Not the least bit interested in that. But haven't seen any that allow pets. ~sigh~

If anyone hears of or stumbles across a job that provides housing and accepts pets PLEASE keep Kelly and I in mind!!!!!

I read thru some of the postings and boy do we have some newbies or what!!!! But never late than never!!! So I want to add my belated but heartfelt "WELCOME" to all the new Sistahs.

I see other than Sparkle, Beth, Lori, Cedar and Fernie we have a couple other of the gals being smartie pants!! Mitch and Vickie are keeping things rocking and rolling along!!! And of course the other smarties pipe in too. I sure do miss being able to check in daily. Just maybe if the internet connection stays good and behaves itself I will be able to check in more often. YAY!!!

Ok been playing long enough. Time to go home and spend some time with my Shade puppy. See ya'll later.

Love to all

Echo, I have always looked forward to your posts and have missed you since you moved to the North Rim. Sounds like maybe your health has been okay lately?

I'll certainly keep my eyes peeled for some outstanding opportunity for you guys...(yeah, like we have anything to hear here in NW TN!!).

Hope you'll be able to post more often now - at least for the next two months.
If you need an in-between place, there's always NW TN for a while - pet-friendly pets always welcome at The Blue Marlin...
Nuttin' in the way of jobs here, though.

Now, as far as you callin' me a smartie...I resemble that remark! Oh, I mean...well, whatever. Hurry back to us!

Echo, I sure do hope you and Kelly find a good place to go to from there,, tell them they MUST have a good internet connection, Gawd knows I'm tired of having to put up with Mitch all by myself! Somebody else has got to stir things up here, I think you were already up there when I joined or I was still in the foggy, learning member stage. :P Does your intentional lack of comments on your health mean things are doing better? Hope so! Maybe something with a lower altitude would raise your attitude,

Hi Echo,... great to see your post here this a.m.! And I'll join the others in hoping that your health is doing ok for you. I'm sure that even if there were jobs here you wouldn't want to come this far into the snowy north,.... but like everywhere else jobs are scarce. Maybe getting that rig is on the horizon for you?

Stay well, hope to see you back here again soon.... and of course, "hey" to Kelly.

Hey all!

As to my health??? I don't deliberately leave it out or not mention it for any special reason. ;) It's just that I forget or maybe I don't actively think about it??? It's pretty good to tell the truth, no problems. I have stopped using the O2 pretty much completely during the day while working. I find that I'm doing just fine not being tied to the tubing and air tanks. In the evening and at night when I go to bed I hook my nose up to that foot catching/tripping tubing. Not using it during the day hasn't seemed to cause any problems at all. Maybe cause I'm even more acclimated to the altitude than I was when I landed in the hospital?? Haven't puffed up or gained any weight back at all. Which of course makes me happy. Tho I do seem to be stuck at a plateau.

We are both doing good here. Kelly is a big help to me as when she is done with her rooms she comes and helps me. If no other rooms have any people in them? Mine sure do!! I clean what they call the 'quads'. There are 8 rooms in all in the quads, they are all single bed rooms. I've gotten where I can clean the complete room in 30 or 40 minutes. Well depending on how badly they have been trashed that is!!! Then I have one they call 'Deerview' that's the size of a large park model trailer. They have taken the living room furniture out and put a double bed in the living room instead. That one takes any where from and 1 hr to 1 1/2 hrs to clean. Most of the time I pace myself and just work along. As long as all my rooms are clean and ready by 3pm, everything is kool. ;)

As to jobs?? I have emailed and called about a few. They have all been filled. One had NO housing and NO rentals close by. ~sigh~ Just need to keep looking. If worse comes to worse I guess we could find some hole in the wall apartment around here and collect unemployment? Yuck I would be bored out of my mind!!! I will stay optimistic and hope for the best!

Carolyn I forgot to tell you congrats on the official retirement!! WooHoo!! Where ya going first???

I know that there have been Birthdays that I've missed too. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL. hehehehehe You too Jenny!!!

I sure do miss checking in on all of ya every day!!! Hopefully where ever we end up for the winter we will be able to have better internet!!

Love to all

Echo, if you're looking for something for winter, check out page 21 of the September/October issue of Workamper News. Top left, Lakeshore Resort on Huntington Lake, 70 miles east of Fresno, CA in the Sierra Nevadas (means snow in the winter). Nearest town about 20 miles down the hill. They offer RV as well as employee housing on-site. I spent Thanksgiving there two years ago, checking the place out as a possible workamping site. Liked it a lot. 23 rustic cabins, store, restaurant, etc. Housekeeping, maintenance, office, store, bartenders, servings, line cooks, dishwashers. $8.00 hour to start. Not sure about a dog, though.

www.lakeshoreresort.com or call Gabrielle Kant 559-893-3193

Hope this helps a little.
