Its Wednesday and coffees on

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Its Wednesday and coffees on

Postby avalen » Wed Aug 26, 2009 6:50 am

Good morning ladies
just a quick cup and I gotta get busy.
I guess I didn't get the extra hours position at work, one troublemaker took it upon
himself to post the opening at our other yard and the field trip coordinater got mad
about it cause the other yard wasn't even eligible and she said nobody was going to get
it and she would do the extra herself on Saturdays. However, I did see the bosses
daughter in the computer room running off field trips for her yesterday. Oh well, such
is life.
Everyone have a great day and be safe.

Good Morning!

thanks for gettting the coffee on, Ava..... I need it this a.m. I think I may be brewing a chest cold, dangit! I don't want to spend my last few days of summer honking and coughing!

Well Ava,... can't say as I'm surprised about that extra hours job. I'm so sorry you didn't get it as it would have been good for you, but that's usually how it goes. Hang in there gal, things will work out.

I'm off to pick up the school tax bills that are printed and ready at the county's Real Property office,...then to my desk in the finance office at school to start getting them stuffed in envelopes and ready to mail. Not a hard job, just time consuming.

I hope everyone will have a good day,... I think it will be sunny and cool here. Stay safe, have fun!

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!!

Sorry about that extra-hours job, Ava----would have been nice. However, nice that you ARE employed and have some money coming in at last! Couldn't you claim you are related to the boss??!!

6 days before school, and one mouse released this morning, making a total of 8 mice, so far. May they all be different ones and not the same who follow the kicker back home!

Overcast but warm, 64 degrees, this morning. Wetness will give me a chance to rest this morning and do some weeding out of the cellar rather than painting. I did find some more shellac, and I will recoat this living room floor not covered by the carpet for the winter, too.

I might even have some time to practice the fiddle and guitar today, if it should decide to rain for a bit. Rain gauge measured another 1.5 inches from the other day when it was coming down like a waterfall. I am very pleased with the lack of direct-hit thunderstorms this summer, so far----but the one direct hit I had wiped out my DSL, and all of my motion-detector lights on the part of the house over the woodpiles. The entire circuit might be damaged, although I am hoping it's only the lights themselves. I bought new ones to try if I can ever get up there to reach them and wire them in...they are high up. Probably won't get done unless son shows up from FL and might do it for me.

Sure hope you aren't getting sick, Cedar----maybe those dang shopping basket handles at Plattsburgh when you went the other day! ACK!!

Another loss for us all this morning with the demise of Teddy Kennedy. So many people we have lost this year who have made an impact in our lives---- some good, some bad, but all definitely people who have made us sit up and take notice.

Thanks to Ava this morning, the coffe is on. Pull up a chair and tell us about your day, no matter what time you get up. I always look forward to reading what you all have to share or just comment on.....makes me feel not so alone.

Morning,

Having my coffee while wearing my hoodie as the mornings are getting cooler and I refuse to turn on the furnace, but am looking forward to a nice warm day here later, in the 80s, 90s tomorrow. Had my two GDs over the weekend so their parents could get in a motorcycle ride up to Windy Ridge on the backside of Mt St Helens. The girls sure can keep me moving, which is good. We rode our bikes everywhere!

Soos, didn't you put up your motion camera? I've been waiting to see pics.
Shopping carts; my grocery store supplies Clorox wipes to use and I always wipe down the handle and basket area. Then wash my hands as soon as I get home. Just heard that the H1N1 flu is going to be horrid so everyone take extra precautions!

Ava, sorry you didn't get the extra work. ;) I know you really needed a little extra in your paycheck as of late.

Wishing everyone a great day!

I DID have my camera set up, but I think the batteries were no good, so I took it down when there was so much human traffic on that spot while the GTG people were here. I am now looking at the digital cameras from Gander Mountain, rather than that old film type which must be developed to see what you caught in the lens! After my first paycheck, I do believe I will order one of those for the fall month to see what I can get. That way, I can remove the little SD card and check it out every day without having to wait for developing, scanning to computer, etc. etc.

So, hang in there, and I will be in business again on the game trails! My first new 'toy' for me in the fall season! (At least it isn't a new and better and improved tent!)

Morning all - another cool morning but supposed to get warmer the aft. NO work on Jennie today - I have to clean house before it crawls away. At least get one floor done. We've either been working on Jennie or running to town to buy something we needed or wanted or forgot to get the previous trip.
I got a neat computer program the other day and have been putting a lot of the pictures I took in Mexico last year into slide shows we can watch on the TV. Sure look prettier then watching them on the computer. Bill watches and then wants to get on the road again.
Ava sorry to hear about the job. Hopefully something better will pop up. Cedar bourbon, honey and lemon alcohol kills germs right?

Good morning all it's still fairly cool and not very humid here thankfully!
Ava, sorry to hear you didn't get the extra work I hope something good will come along for you soon.
Cedar and anyone else who gets colds buy some Elderberry & Zinc it is a bottle of 30 lozenges & the brand name is NOW. When you feel the slightest hint you may be getting a sore throat or cold take two. Then I usually take a couple more at various times during that first day and maybe three more the next day. By then you'll feel better or at least if you get the cold it won't last so long. I know there have been studies that say zinc doesn't help but I find it does in this combination. Plus it costs under $5.00 so not a big investment. These are available at most health food stores or online. Another help to keep from getting chest colds is take a good brand multi vitamin( not a generic), and some extra vitamin C.

I'm watching a lovely vintage trailer on eBay it would be my dream trailer if my heart wasn't set on a Class B! It is a 1966 Airstream Caravel totally restored. The Caravel is really sought after so will probably go for quite a bit. The item number is 170374594450 if anyone wants to take a look. There is also a 1954 Airstream Flying Cloud that I'm watching just to see how much it goes for, it's another gem.

Hope everyone's day goes well. I need to groom on one of my dogs today, it's sort of a never ending project around here with three hairy ones.

Soos, I bought one of the less expensive game cameras a while back but never could get it to work so brought it back. Monday I got another one at Academy. It's a Remington Ghost 5.0 megapixels Model #DGx5.0. I sat it up on the carport last night to see if it would work. It took one picture of a cat about 5:00 this morning. It was a good picture but as much wildlife as we have I can't beleive only one cat came by. I don't like the mounting bracket. It can be screwed to something or has a cable to put around a tree. I got it to put at the barn to see what is coming around. The instructions that come with these things leaves a lot to be desired as far as I'm concerned. I'll try it at the barn tonight.

I never get to see any news, didn't know about Ted Kennedy. I understood completely when he was released from the hospital after his stroke and all he wanted to do was go out on his boat.
I'm in Kanab, sitting in Subway, (free WiFi) eating a free sandwich that I won on their Scrabble Game. I go to court in about an hour. I was very careful about my speed on the way in...I could just see me telling the Officer, Yes, I was speeding, I'm late going to protest my speeding ticket! I've always thought a neat reply to their question, Do you know what speed you were doing? would be, You expect me to be able to look at the speedometer at the speed I was driving??? That's just about as bad as Ossifer, I'm not as thunk as you drink I am.
Sorry Ava, especially at the way it happened. I'm waiting to hear about a job I've applied for..hoping..hoping...

Late in the day but thought I'd check in. I have set some plums in the first stage for making wine. I have given so much away that my supply was getting low.
Sorry about the job, Ava; know how extra money can really help.
Soos, how many of those mice have made their way back? Maybe you should put a spot of paint on them so you would know.

I usually put a dab of nail polish between their shoulders on their back to make sure, Wicked Lady, but have been overlooking that important step as I then need to don gloves to pick them up (they bite!) and then have to let them dry before I release them. Maybe I can get a mini-spray thing to use and save time! I could just stick it through the havahart and put a dab on their back! In the old days, when I lived across the mountain in a log cabin with tons of cracks big enough for mice to enter, I recaught only ONE mouse in about 40 of them I released! And I have always suspected that one was not let go far enough way as it was below zero when I did it!

Thanks for the Amazon link, Mitch----I never thought to look there. I am not sure it's the same model, as Moultrie makes a bunch of them and some are better than others. The reviews on the model I want were all 4 or 5 out of 5, over a hundred of them. Other Moultrie models had lousy reviews, and I sure don't want to bother with them. Another good thing about ordering from Gander Mountain is that they will take it back if it malfunctions, and send me another. Am not so sure about Amazon, if it comes from a private owner? I will go there now and check it out. I still haven't ordered it until I get the rent/mortgage check from my kids in FL.

Sparkle-----what about your 'trial'???? We are waiting for that info!!

..

Soos, the Amazon link is for the I-40, which I think is the one you were looking at.

I've had to return one thing to Amazon and they were good about it. It was a tiny tv and it was after the 30 days they give you for returns. Charged me a 20% restocking fee, however.

I'm always on the fence about buying electronic stuff online due to the potential return hassle(s). But living here in NW TN, my buying options in a stick 'n brick store are severely limited, compared to when I lived in the Chicago metro area!
