Let's get together!

I thought we would eat out one night and do pot luck one night and on our own the next. I haven't worked through that yet but I'm opento any suggestions 'cause we can always do 2 nights pot luck especially if we have leftovers. I've talked to a couple of people on the phone and they may come down for a day/eve and drive back home so I'm kind of waiting to know for sure which night because I would think that will be the night we want to do pot luck and hang out at the cg w/fire, etc.

Check out the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park at http://www.tennessee.gov/environment/pa ... entennial/ and let me know if you are interested in a tour. I happen to know a couple of rangers down there who will be able to give us our own private tour. It's next door to the Farmers Market and we could visit there, they may have some fall crops.

Also if you have never been to the Parthenon at http://www.nashville.org/parthenon/ there is a $6 fee for viewing this place but it is well worth it. $3.50 for seniors if anyone qualifies??

If I'm headed in the wrong direction with plans, let me know. Oh, there is also a Camping World if anyone wants to go there.

It all sounds good. Plenty of time for the jello to set up....As we get closer, if any particular activity takes reservations (like a private tour guide!) maybe we can just take a count of hands. I really like history and beautiful scenery and interesting buildings and fine company...... With several people coming, it might be that some go off this way and others that way, for part of the time... I haven't even begun to ask around or think about what I want to see, but with this group of independent women...nothing need stop any of us from seeing special things we want..... Okay, maybe finances could slow us down some....

Cracked me up!

Ditto what Tina said, "it's all good."

Just thinking about generalities - who drinks alcohol (like a fun, icy mixed drink)? I DO, I DO. (just in case I bring the fixin's)
Any food allergies? Me - none.

For pot-luck, we each are responsible for our own main meat/fish, and then we bring a shared dish? Is that how it works?

When it comes to food, I do what I am told.... I have no famous meals to gain me any honors or to be remembered by..... I usually drink wine but sweet Jimmy Buffet drinks are not refused!

Sorry - maybe I had too much wine and didn't realize the final decision was Seven Points????????

Glad to hear that everything has been worked out. I'm planning to be there if at all possible, but probably just for an evening. I may or may not still have Ms"B"Haven. I may or may not have sold the house and gone 100% full-time - only time will tell. But, I sure wish I could be there. Hey, Tina, glad to know you are going to make it. We're planning to go to the Gypsy Journal rally in September - do you think you'll be there?

Carolyn, I like your "tour guide" ideas. I think the ranger talk would be great as well as the "honky tonks".

Just thought I would let you know that I went by Seven Points today and went in. Talked to the hostess and let her know what we were doing and I was checking out the sites I knew we had already reserved. Man, have they done some work out there. Great sites, plenty of room, nice bath houses and she said if we are coming early to call at the cg 615 889 5198 and if the site is available it won't matter how early you arrive. She said she would hate for someone to drive a long distance and have to wait to get in. She was very helpful and I invited her to come down and see/visit with us.

When my ex and I went there upteen years ago it was nothing like it is today so I was sure relieved to see the improvements. The road getting to the cg is being worked on, well actually it looks like maybe water lines are being put in so if you drive slowly it will help the contents of your RV. Also in some places you will definitely want to get in the left lane to get around some of the rougher places in the right hand lane. Visibility is good so you will be able to see if someone is coming toward you.

That's all to report right now. Later...

That is so cool! I'm glad we're going to be a nice place. Thanks for taking the time to check it out for us. What a good little Girl Scout you are!!! Now all you need to do is organize the bingo and the badminton and the croquet...oh, wait - none of those include wine...

Yesterday, I checked the site I reserved (#45) and it's booked on Sunday, not booked on Monday, and I'm in on Tuesday. So, it's currently available for one night only before me...chances are it'll be empty the morning I get there, so I can get right in! Then I can set up the bingo (with wine), and the badminton (with wine), and the croquet (with wine)...oh, heck - that sounds like too much work. Let's just plan on the wine.

Carolyn, do you know if they sell firewood there? Or anyplace nearby? Did you happen to notice the back-in-ability of site #45??? I soooo hate that task!!! I wish I could get the hang of it. It's just all around embarrassing!!!!! But at least it's entertaining to any neighbors I might have!

I'm excited. Image

Are there any men coming? Tina, I'd be glad to include dinner for you, since you aren't nuts about cooking...I can let you know what's on the menu as we get closer...

Please don't let my exuberance put you off...I am actually quite quiet around new people. So, if you like me right off the bat, you won't like me once you get to know me, or after a glass of wine or two (I suppose that would depend on who has the wine - you or me, or both?)

Mitch, there was a house on the left going in that had a firewood for sale sign in the yard so that may be a source. I'll find out if they sell at the park later on.

Well, since I've named my MH Somewhere, can you imagine that we may have more than wine available. I believe another song goes, "there's booze in the blender..." I'll have the walla balla's out for us to play after we have had a few glasses.

Site 45 looked like you will have fun backing in. Oh, yes, Tina, bring that video we must capture this. Don't know about men.

Seriously - it's gonna be hard to back into 45?
Really?
I just might have to cancel...

I don't know about men, either.
I was just wondering if any were joining the group.

Hey Mitch,.... I have a new method for backing,.... Actually it's a variation on the usual one that advises driver to put hand on bottom of steering wheel... yada, yada, yada...

but someone recently suggested I do it this way:
put hand on bottom of wheel and PUSH wheel in direction that you want the back of your camper to go. Now the minute I started thinking that way,.. using the word "push" it has become easier for me. I can still provide entertainment (hope nobody videoed me!) but it is a lot easier. Just thinking differently.

Good luck.. and I know you all are going to have a blast! Pictures, plu-eeeeeze! Wish I was going to be there with you.
