Well, a couple days ago I had a hankering for some Chinese. I like Chinese, but don't think I have had any Chinese probably for at least a year. I had been doing some yard work, took my sweet Joe boy for a walk, by the time I got back from the walk I was hungry and tired, and not at all in the mood to do any cooking.
So I dragged myself over to my local Chinese food joint and placed an order for my two faves, an order of pork fried rice, and an order of sweet-and-sour pork. Yum.
Then I was told "$32.00, please." I was floored ($32.00 for a small take-out order???), and almost turned on my heel and walked out. But by now I was very hungry, more tired than before, and just wanted to eat. Since Cheerios didn't seem like a viable alternative for dinner (again), I slapped down my fast $32.00, vowing I would never come to this place again. EVER.
Dumb, I know. Probably should have just walked out anyway.
I had to wait a bit (because it was take-out) and then the lady handed me a large brown paper bag containing my order.
LOL. I was actually shocked. The bag weighed at least 5 or 6 pounds, I couldn't believe how heavy it was.
When I got home and opened your standard Chinese take-out cartons, the food was packed really tight. I had one big helping of both the rice and the sweet-and-sour, then a little bit more of the rice. The cartons still looked almost completely full - in fact, I would have considered them full had I not just had a nice meal from them!
Anyway, I ended up dividing what was left into 1-portion-size baggies, and then freezing it.
All and all, I will be getting about 6 or 7 meals out of this.
And, yes, I DO now feel the food was worth the price, after all. Oh, YUM! LOL - and I will go back.
How's things going in your world, Ladies?
