Friday August 23

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday August 23

Postby Shirlv » Fri Aug 23, 2024 9:28 am

Good Morning All, the last of the low humidity days and temps will start back. Been thinking about watching YouTube and Anne and Karen’s suggestion. All good and I have searched many subjects. Using my clumsy system I have found sites that I found interesting that I wouldn’t have search. I have watched all the Good Witch series, Midsomer Mysteries, Ancestry, who do you think you are, travel logs, movies like Under The Tuscan Sun and recipes. I’m asking, how would I find a list to select from without going thru my round about way? Be safe

Good morning. It is a cool 53 and I love it. Maybe even some rain showers today. I am feeling pretty motivated this morning so will get busy after breakfast. I spent yesterday watching some reels on recipes, it was kind of fun to see what some people do with so little. I will pick out a couple to try next week. Garbage day today so had to get all the trash together and take my can out to the curb. I still have lots of room in it in case I find more stuff to put in. Our garbage pickup doesnt come until around 11 so I have time.

Irmi glad you are having a great vacation. I wouldn't do well with all that traffic. I hate traffic anymore and it never used to bother me in my younger years ha ha Now I like my little rural lifestyle. This town isn't real big and everything is so close it only takes about 5 minutes to get to any one store. Costco is just up the road, my groomer is a mile away, my docs under 5 miles Yup this works for me. Can't do alot of shopping here tho so Amazon and I have a relationship. We have grocery stores and a couple of meat markets so not a problem in that arena.
Sheila no worries I might have read it wrong too ha ha Your recipe sounds good and there were several recipes I found so just have to choose one to try eventually. Judy it gets flatter as you go west LOL I was born in Winnipeg and it is a beautiful province. Glad my parents moved to the states tho. I am definitely a mountain kinda gal. Love the lakes, rivers, trees, mountains. I am so not a desert person altho it has beauty too just not my cup of tea. Good thing we all like different things or it would be very crowded in certain areas ha ha
Shirl I just go to Youtube, enter what you want to watch, and lots of videos show up. Scroll down until you find something interesting. I will try to find an example to send you.

Will be time for some breakfast, shower then get busy

Great info, Karen!

I would just add to this is that another cool thing about YouTube is that once a person has done a few searches, the YouTube algorithm (an algorithm is basically YouTube's programming) will then begin to "recognize" what kind of things that you like - and will then automatically begin to offer suggestions (links) to videos that you have shown (by your searching) that you are interested in.

A win-win kind of thing. And, as stated before, likely all of these links will be free.

And, for myself, I would like to say again that I never pay to watch anything on YouTube.

Enjoy!

Not much going on here. Luna and I managed to get a walk in. It was 94 but there was a breeze when we started. The breeze quit before we finished. One of my Direct receivers wasn't showing local channels so I called Directv. I was on the phone with them for 40 minutes but we finally got it working. I should have looked on Youtube, there is probably a video showing what to do. I have a remote that needs to be programed so I might work on that tomorrow.

There is a hospice monthly dinner on Sunday but I don't like the restaurant they were going to so I wasn't going. I got an email today that they had to change the restaurant to one I like. I'm going if I don't forget again. I forgot last month.

watched a new movie on Hallmark mysteries good thing they repeat... I dozed off and missed a part of it in the middle of it...
accomplished the most important thing... and should have vacuumed but oh well it will happen one day...
still working on the hat for the baby did look for another pattern for the other baby but really need to finish something before I start that one I looked at the pom poms and and what I thought was a rigid plastic ring was in fact a piece of elastic so now to find the buttons and sew that to the top of the hats and put the pompoms on glad to know that it's going to be easy... once I find the buttons that is...
I finished a book a couple days ago and as they referred to another book of hers... didn't indicate it was a series but it was the other book was about the gals in this ones brother and another brother was mentioned so looked up the description of another book in her list and found the name of the brother but couldn't remember anything about it so looked it up in my notes to see if I got it yes I did in 2021 well that explains it that long ago... but I do have a stack of older books I haven't gotten to... and wondered so picked up three books and there it was... so get to read it... and where ever this box of books go to the full series will be in it  I always like to do that when I know that I have them together some well it just doesn't happen
we have basically 5 ways into the 'valley' of course the pass from the west the southern there is a road that come from the north and one that comes from the south and they converge into one highway that comes into town... then from the North from Yellowstone and one over Togwotee pass coming from the east...just off of Togwotee is a wild fire burning has eaten up 10000 so far but as I was looking to see how to spell the name of Togwotee saw where there was another fire burning further north and east that has burned another larger than SLC and Denver put together... I don't remember what the acreage was but bigger than the one on the pass..
we had some hard winds today... sure won't help those fighting the fires...
I think I'm not going to the lake party sending my contribution on ahead being lazy having niece pick it up from the store... just hesitated too long to figure shall I go or shall I not...(the path to where they meet up at is a steep trail and I had a really hard time with it last year) last year I swore I wouldn't do that trail again but I'd still like to go ... oh well can always change my mind
Shirl it sound like you got lots of help there
Karen did you ever say how your experimental garden spot did? or are you expecting much this summer..
Hope you remember to go to your meetup Martha...
Judy that sounds pretty I can't get over the amount of trees that is on the "Island" that my youngest lives on (she is across the sound from Seattle) not sure what the name of it is... so very dense
you all have a great day
