Happy Birthday Shirll!!!! I hope you have a wonderful day,

I've been looking for a new insurance company. Seems as though it is always something... I went to State Farm and they quoted me several hundred dollars less on my auto but for the homeowners said to call Hartford and see what their quote would be on just the Homeowners. The good new is by splitting between the two companies I'll save over $600.00! I don't know if it is customary for a company to make that type of suggestion but it really impressed me. Also or the first time since the beginning of June the strange itchy rash that has cleared up. I'm hoping this time it is for good!!!

I'm wondering about Barbie I saw on FB there is another delay in the closing.

Thank you Beth and all, weather has been so humid I am confined indoors. The last couple day have been less so have enjoyed the porch and hummingbirds. No special plans. My dinner will be shrimp scampi from local Italian restaurant. I saw devils food cake mix on counter so hoping that means chocolate cake with Carmel frosting. lol I am still using my trusted IPad to keep up with the world but reading news I’d like reading about 3rd graders. Think the only responsible adults are on this site. Still keeping in touch with my buddy, Edith who shares my opinions and sense of humor. Do wish I had interesting news but life is pretty boring. Be safe

Happy Birthday Shirl. If your ears were ringing recently it could have been because you were being remembered by Lori and Peggy and Paulette...... The early Lori and Ernie GTGs taught several of us that roaming around meeting wonderous new people could be the start of many a good adventure......

Afternoon all. First off, a Big Happy Birthday to Shirl. Temp here is 86°.. Having a couple days of 80 degree weather before dropping back into mid to upper 70’s. We were in mud 6’s last week. So temps are fluncuating as fall approaches. Nice thing is humidity is in low 40’s and a nice gentle northerly breeze. O’Sharon, you got the colder weather we had last week and I’ll be sending you this warm weather. We have rain coming as well, so you might be in for that too, but not before the weekend at earliest. We are only about two weeks away from the first Day of meteorological fall on Sept 1st. Although first official day of fall isn’t until Sept. 21st or thereabouts, Mother Nature doesn’t pay attention to that. She changes the seasons when she’s ready. Astrological seasons are just sun positions. Weather wise the changes are already taking place long before. Nights are getting darker earlier, low temps are down in the 50’s here now and highs are in mid 70’s which is norm for us, but gradually cooling down as August wears on. By mid September, the first hints of color change starts to peak out. I had never heard of meteorological seasons until the NWS started talking about them as they use them to record the seasonal changes weather and climate wise and then I saw the sense to it.

Nothing much doing around here. Just keeping busy with little stuff. Adding some elbows to the bottom of one of my downspouts to make it drain down past the edge of the blocks I built the new porch flowerbeds with, is really the inly project I am dong and it’s not that big a deal. Just need to make a cosmetic change by adding some edging blocks and River stone to my existing area a bit will finish it off. Have some flowerbed work to do, but all in time. Couple hostas need splitting and edging blocks around flagpole bed need to be widened as flowers are spreading. Cool weather projects. Gotta keep the old body moving.

Judy, sounds like you are having a nice trip around Superior. You mentioned people swimming at one point. You can swim in it, in certain areas, but they are far and few between. . Bays and harbors where water is shallower and warms up. I’ve swum in Pancake Bay a couple times on the astern Canadian shore and people swim in Munising off Miners Beach. The Black Rocks in Marquette is another depending on the wind. But I’ve waded in some darn frigid water too, in mid summer. Lake MI is pretty nippy too sometimes.

Barbie, sorry things keep getting topsy turvey. . It’s the nature of the beast, but with the NAR settlement taking effect this Saturday, that’s going to change how buyers pay agents and it will work to your benefit. Look up National Association of Realtors settlement and find out about it. This is nationwide. Do this before you close, it’s important you know this. Any of you who have sold Homs since 2019 check this out too. You may be enttitled to reimbursement for commission costs on your sale.

Can’t think of anything else that I wanted to add for now, so I guess I will just close this off. I know there were some other things I wanted to comment on, but I don’t remember what they are. Have a good rest of the day those of you who are still in the early parts of your day And a good late afternoon and evening for those of us on the east side. Safe travels to Maryland, Irmi.

Happy birthday from me also!

About Lake Superior, when I was about 15, my dad had a project near Marquette, MI, so we occasionally went to the beach to swim. Except it was so cold that none of the adults got in the water, and we kids barely got up to our waists--way too cold! I am in Thunder Bay right now, and going to take it easy tomorrow. Will go to Historic Fort Williams on Friday.

On the way in, i went to a local Walmart. First, they had all the carts locked down, and I could not figure out how to get one so I just used a basket. I think you checked them out with a credit card to prevent theft--not a very good area of town because several homeless around the store. Anyway, I only needed a couple of things because I really stocked up before i left Michigan. Food is expensive here, even with the currency exchange rate. I saw Walmarts butter for $8, which would be $6 U.S., but that is still a lot more than I am used to paying at Walmart in the U.S. No wonder so many Canadians are coming to U.S. for winters!!

Here for four nights then heading west to another town or two. Drove 185 miles today, which seems longer the older I get, but the road was in very good condition with very little traffic. Supposed to be divided highway west of here.

Happy Birthday Shirl, hope you got your cake.

Judy, I think Walmart butter is $4 something here. Wish I could make it to Thunder Bay to see my brother.

I went to town and got my hair cut. One of the gas stations has a restaurant in the same building. The station part sells salads and sandwiches made by the restaurant. I picked up a Club Wrap and came home. I seldom get wraps but it wasn't bad. Tonight I was having trouble finding something I wanted to eat. A lot of the things in the freezer have chicken and I'm tired of chicken and didn't want to heat the oven to cook a pizza. I made a BLT with a hot dog bun because the only bread I have is sliced french bread. It was messy but good.

No plans for the rest of the week except hopefully pick up my car. Still haven't heard from them.

Martha, I finally got my hair cut today, also. And the car got an oil and filter change. Then I stopped and got a hot sub from Jersey Mike's. Ate 1/2 and will have the other 1/2 tomorrow. It was nice to get out today and get a drive in. Judy, I'm enjoying your travels. Canada is quite a bit more expensive for everything.

Happy Birthday Shirl hope you got your wishes
I watched a "reel" on FB using 3 ingredients 1 box of cake mix any flavor 1 can of pie filling any flavor and 3 large eggs mix put in a 9X13 pan greased and bake at 350 for 35 mins. supposed to have a pudding cake like texture a crispy edge like brownies it looks really good ...going to try it when Shirl mentioned the cake mix it reminded me... will see several things on the reels that look good and some oh well don't see how that will work...
enjoy your trip Judy
sounds like you had a good day as well Beth funny that both you and Martha good a hair cut... I can't remember what the Walmart butter cost rarely get it as I live almost 2 hours from one so I get the non perishable stuff when I do make it or when I have dd pick stuff up... mostly shop at Smith's for meats veggies dairy and some non perishables ok a lot just depending when I know that I can get stuff from Walmart.. Kroger (Smith's here) has a double butter that is cheaper than a 2 1lb pkg of butter ...so normally get that... but don't remember the cost of it...
mom is muttering talks loud enough I know that she is talking but not loud enough to know what she is saying other than she hurts she really hurts butt hurts (no padding but won't lay on her side very long)she even had an extra pain pill usually she sleeps a lot during the evening but not tonight...
Shirl my day is even more boring
I did take the hat out but because when I measured it it was way too small using a larger hook but afraid it's going to be too big the aid will be here tomorrow so will see what her thoughts are it's for her baby so she will have an idea and she has also crocheted so will have some ideas
Sue sounds like you are working hard as usual
you all have a great day
