Still waiting...Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Still waiting...Saturday

Postby BarbaraRose » Sat Aug 10, 2024 11:31 am

No news on closing yet. I did text with the buyer last night. I guess they are still waiting for the report from the roof inspector for his homeowners insurance to get finalized. Hope that gets done on on Monday!

Not feeling too good this morning. Queazy and crampy when I woke up. Took some stuff for it so hope that works. I have a lot to do around here today!

I didn't get much sleep the night before because my mind was racing all night and then when I finally got to sleep, Romeow decided to cause mayhem! So I only got about 4 hours of sleep before I had to get up and get going in the morning. Took about 2 1/2 hours to get to San Marcos. The RV is a 2003 Fleetwood Tioga 26Q with 39K miles on it. The guy (younger guy) was super nice and we had a great conversation about lots of stuff. He showed me everything in the RV and outside. Explained lots of stuff about how the solar works, etc. It is really in great shape and is beautiful inside! Tons of storage inside and out! I took photos, and measurements of cabinets etc. I think it will be perfect for me and the cats! It comes with a lot of upgrades and extras. It has a full solar system on the roof. It has new tires,
brand new in the box back-up camera, covers for everything, new UV protectant coating on the roof, tire minder system, the whole back end of the RV under the bedroom is storage with 3 openings. Nice roomy bathroom. He also had a full professional inspection done a month ago and everything checked out fine. I will get to keep that along with all the maintenance records, etc. I didn't find any signs of water damage or leaks anywhere.

There are a couple cosmetic things I will want to change eventually. It is mostly carpeted so will want to get that all removed when I get a chance. It is in good clean condition, I just don't want the upkeep of carpet, especially with the cats. I love that the it has an actual bedroom with having access to 2 sides of the bed and a closet, and still only 26 ft long! So very manageable for driving and parking.

Now I just need to close so I have the cash to go back and pay for it and take it home! I will get a storage spot nearby to park it and then will have time to start putting stuff in it and organizing it.

After driving out there, spending over 2 hours there, I drove up the the gourd farm. I was looking for a gourd that I could make a into small boat for my brother. Needed just the right shape for that and found 2 that should work. Headed back home, stopping for lunch before going back over the mountains. Got home at 5pm. I was exhausted by then! Went to bed early and slept good! Romeow was even a good boy all night! I am very excited and relieved! Just need to get closed next week and get my money!!

Once I start feeling better here, I will start on the bathroom and then the kitchen. Tomorrow I need to do laundry and more cleaning and sorting. I am more motivated now!

These photos were in the CL ad. There are new tires on it now and it looks much better than it shows in the photos!

Barbie, did you double check how long it is. Many of the manufacturers put a number on the rig that does is not a direct relation to the rig's length. Looking at the pictures I am guessing that it might be a bit longer. Just an FYI. Also remember that just because there is space for lots and lots of storage there may not be available Carrying Capacity if the spaces are filled and the tow weight of a vehicle. JB Judy can speak to that directly. Full timing, she has dealt with that issue several times over the years. It does seem to have a lot of bells and whistles.

Greetings from Dawson City, Yukon!

We had some lovely, hot days and now rain again. Oh well. Next is dirt/gravel 550 miles to Arctic Ocean on Dempster Highway. Whatever they put on that road makes it slick in rain so not sure how this is going to work out. I did start my Diamond Painting yesterday finishing one coaster. So easy and relaxing! Since I leave my Christmas tree up and decorate for different holidays, using this method for ornaments will be fun. On the really good news note, I see my upstairs neighbor's apartment is for rent! Must introduce myself to new neighbors as cranky lady downstairs.

Beth, hoping Ty is doing better each day - sooner the better! My daughter is going to have to have her dog put to sleep this next week - rough times.

Barbie, sorry escrow is a mess, but it usually ends up that way it seems. Tina had me thinking on the length so I Googled that year and model - 26 feet and 10 inches.

Lots of not so great things happening to some of you - cars, weather, health, fires and smoke, etc. Here's hoping things improve. Sheila, how fun to be with so many of your family.

Here's wishing the best for all of you!

Thanks, everyone, TY is improving every day. Now I'll be thrilled when he doesn't have to get me up overnight once out twice to go out and pee. Lol. He's always slept all night and as long as I've stayed in bed. At least he can go up and down the steps again. And no matter what I say, if he requires overnight trips outside forever, I'll complain, but definitely would take that.

Barbie, it looks nice. As Tina said the numbers/ name don't always correlate with the length. I looked it up and it's close at 27 feet according to specs from Tioga. Did you actually drive it?

Anita, you've done the Arctic drive before haven't you? That's on my list to do for the first time if I ever get back up there.

Did you get a copy of the inspection? You really need that and to contact the person who did it to verify the information. THIS IS REALLY CRITICAL!!!!

Also, I have a lot more storage space than I can use because of cargo carrying capacity. Mine is only 1,300, and my rig is overloaded, which is not good because it means a lot rougher ride and could cause blowouts and a broken frame. So, basically, I can fill spaces only about halfway, and my rig is still overweight!!!

Also, what is the chassis and the engine? V8 or v10? V10 is much better.

ANd frankly, that low mileage is a concern because it means it has sat for months and years. You really need to get your own inspection done. Personally, I would go with higher mileage and newer model for fewer problems.

Also, just so you know, Fleetwood went bankrupt in 2009, so the current Fleetwood company does not sell parts or will do repairs in this year motorhomes. You may be able to get parts from a few companies that stock discontinued stuff, and a lot of the things like the stove and refrigerator are probably still available.

Did you try turning on the furnace and stove? How about the AC? Ditto for making sure the refrigerator is working.

And again, you should not buy this without the report from the inspector. I don't want to scare you, but a lot of people buy older RVs and then end up spending a ton of money on them.

Yes, Beth, this will be 3rd time on the Dempster. They have added 85 miles to the ocean and a little ‘village’ of Tuktoy something - can’t remember spelling so that will be new.

LOL. Everything that Judy said.

I would also check to be sure that the new tires are GVWR rated for this specific motorhome.

https://www.transwest.com/rv/blog/ultimate-buying-guide-for-rv-tires/

It is possible for someone to go out and buy J. Random Tires someplace, and then slap them on a motorhome. . . which would not be good.

Barbie, does the RV inspection include the vehicle part? I would be concerned about the brakes. One of the Class C's I had was on the F-350 Cassie and it was under powered. The motorhome I have now is called a 26 foot but it is 28 foot bumper to bumper.

I went to a Meetup brunch with my group. The restaurant was in the area of Lafayette that thinks they are up-scale. The restaurant is trying to be fancy but about the only thing fancy about it was the price. I had chicken and waffle. It was ok but I have had better for half the price. Went to Walmart, got gas in the truck and a can of gas for the mower. That was about all I managed to do. I didn't get anything to cook for tomorrow so guess I will bake some chicken thighs again.

I gave Luna a ball that I had ordered for her a while ago. It makes a noise when it rolls. I gave it to her outside and that thing made her so crazy that I had to give her a chew treat and hide the ball. It was 100 degrees and she was getting too hot.

I took a day off not that is unusual but it's been a quite a busy hectic week... and I think I needed it... I can waste a lot of time on the phone with various sites... I woke up late which put lots of things off we had lunch of cream of wheat at 12:00 or so... cream of wheat was quicker than oatmeal.. :? was planning on BLT's for supper but ended up being soup I started looking for a infant hat pattern that I found so cute and thought that it would be fairly easy do you think I can find it??? nope wish I knew how to save something on the phone and oh find where it's saved at... I thought I remembered the name of the person doing the video but perhaps not as I can't find it on her you tube... I don't know that I've searched it all though and don't know how to do a search on the individuals... I really wanted to have the aids dd's hat done when she comes on Thurs guess if I can settle on an pattern I can get it done it just won't be that one... however I did finish another dish cloth and started the next while in Pocatello I found the blue I needed and some more yellow that way if I decide to make the towels hopefully I have enough yellow and hopefully I got enough blue for towels...
Anita how is your daughter doing with her infection? so sorry about the dog hard to go through all of that... When will you be home? dd and I are planning on going up to see DD#4 so hoping you will be back...
Barbie it's always easy to get caught up in what it looks like hopefully it's as good as it sounds do agree that you should have your own inspection done... it's too bad that Jenny and Dan are still in Washington even if you know how to drive something of that nature it would be good to get a refresher ... hoping that your closing happens soon...
Beth so glad that Ty is recovering it's hard cause like with a little one they can't tell you what is wrong ...
Judy they made that trip sound really boring hoping it's not quite that bad and that you have the needed amenities along the way...
Another reason I didn't go out today was that the town has both candidates in the area and some sort of thing for Governors had no desire to venture out... and we had rain!!! even a bit of hail not that is wanted but the rain was and I didn't need to water the plants... cleaned and refilled the hummingbird feeder... it's fun to watch them flick around the plants
my granddaughter (she is married to my grandson) parents gave her some huckleberries for her birthday... she gave me some in the hand yummy then we had pancakes with huckleberries... so good...and when I left she gave me a little container of frozen berries.... they were thawed by the time I got home but I stuck them back in the freezer... will really enjoy them someway
you all have a great day

Martha, both my class c's have been on the e350 chassis and I've never felt underpowered. Barbie, I second asking if you tried everything? AC, generator, microwave, fridge is cold, etc, etc. Things will be going wrong with an older rv, so that has to be factored into any price you might pay even if all work now. I certainly see the appeal as it's an rv I'd like. :) Just make sure.

TY is improving by leaps and bounds now. (Knocking on wood.) He now wants to eat and isn't happy that I'm not giving him as much yet. But he is being picky lolol It's like he knows he can get away with things right now. We walked tonight and a couple that always make sure they take a wide berth on their bikes came back around to ask me why he didn't bark or try to chase them. When I said I'd like to think he has turned a new leaf, to not count on it. They laughed. They were very sad to hear he'd been sick. He has more friends in this park than me. True where ever I go and I'm ok with that. I'm going to take him out now and cross my fingers that he doesn't need to go back out once or twice more overnight. But we all know I'll get right up if necessary.

Sorry I'm not commenting on many posts this week. I want to, but my mind is preoccupied and forget much of what I've read. I'll try to be better.

Sheila, daughter is on a bit of a hold pattern. Infectious disease doctor wants one more scan to make sure infection is totally gone. Waiting on insurance apparently. Worst part is finding food she can eat - that soft stuff gets old so they are being creative. I’ll be home around first of October if not before.

Anita if your daughter has a Nutri Bullet or something similar she can blend a lot of food. I know it doesn't sound appetizing but when I couldn't chew I would blend things like toast with almond butter and milk, smoothies with milk, 1/2 apple, 1/2 banana, and a hand full of spinach are really good. Also transitioning back to regular food takes awhile as your mouth has to relearn the process.

I didn't realize you were going to be gone so long on your trip. What a great adventure.
