FRIDAY 8/9

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

FRIDAY 8/9

Postby OregonLuvr » Fri Aug 09, 2024 9:48 am

Good morning. Nice and cool here this morning 57 will heat up later to 87 We are in a bit of a cooling trent 87/85/78/79/82/80/77/81 I am loving it. I dont think it will last but I will take it for now. Still smoky but not terrible thank goodness.

My neighbors husband had to call the ambulance yesterday as her husband John was having some chest pain. I took her to the hospital a little bit later, she was very upset so thought it was better if I drove. Fortunatly it wasnt a heart attack. His BP was low so think the medicine for that caused that. He has to take his BP now before he takes his med. But they didnt find anything else so fed him and we came home until he was ready to be released. I didnt go back to pick him up as all was calm by then. I saw him later and he was doing much better. Dang those firemen are cute LOL LOL

Worked in my garden yesterday morning had to harvest those green beans as they are coming on like gangbusters all of a sudden. Didnt get much else done after that tho.
Beth so sorry to hear Ty is feeling poorly. My other dog did that periodically and my vet said if they dont eat or drink for 48hrs to bring her in. Seemed like the next day she was fine. I will hope for the same for Ty. Glad you did find a vet you liked tho, that is always a plus. Today I have catch up housekeeping to do. I will finish puttering in the yard this morning before it gets too hot. I am trying to clean off my deck so I can power wash it and then stain it. This just might be the week ha ha I have lots of spider webs around so sprayed my house perimeter so hopefully that will help. I tried the broom for a while and that worked okay except they are so sticky they just clung to it. Black widow spider webs are super sticky but these werent that bad and they are out in the open so that is not the issue thank goodness. I always wear my leather gloves if moving things they could hide under or between.

time for some breakfast and get busy before I lose my motivation or something unexpected happens again

Rainy Friday

Postby Othersharon » Fri Aug 09, 2024 10:04 am

Good morning all. Today is one of those days to consider a boat! Rain started last night about 9 and it hasn’t stopped since. All thanks to Debby. I think it’s supposed to stop sometime before noon. Luckily I was able to pick up my car yesterday and get that all taken care of so no need to go anywhere today. I was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly it all went. Took the rental back to Enterprise and got a ride right away to the dealership. No waiting at all. I even managed to get my grocery shopping done last night too. With all the flooding around today I won’t be going out on the roads. They’ve even lowered the speed limit on both I-80 and 99, never heard of that before. Wintertime it’s common. Beth, hope Ty is feeling better. I had Buddy to the vet a couple of weeks ago for what sounds like about the same thing. Full bloodwork up, urine, fecal and X-rays showed nothing. Everything was good. The only thing she concluded was sensitive stomach and I went to a rice and chicken diet for about a week before I slowly added his regular kibble. If I recall Buddy had the same thing soon after I got him and the rice and boiled chicken did the trick then too. Think I used turkey burger too but I can’t always get that. When he didn’t eat at all I was really alarmed since he’ll usually eat anything including things he shouldn’t eat! Plus I have him on a probiotic now too. So now at least I know that this might happen again and what to start with before I run to the vet. Obviously if it continued I would seek professional help. Barbie, sure hope they get it together and get your closing finished so you can move on with your plans. Sue, at least what we’re getting right now isn’t coming from your part of the world! Son is supposed to fly home from Maine tomorrow and I wonder how that’s going to go. Not so concerned with where he’s at but if the flights here will be canceled or delayed. I think he’ll probably fly into Philly to connect with a flight into here. At least they have an extra day before they’re due to go to work! He usually cuts it closer then that! Maybe he’s finally learning! Otherwise that’s about all the news I have for now. Hope everyone has a good day and stay safe!

Good morning, everyone!

LOL, I'll second that Irmi. My life is pretty boring, I am really looking forward to reading Barbie's adventures as she gears up and finally gets on the road.

GO, Barbie!! :D

Good morning!
I have Delta Dental insurance - $107/year. I pay $10 for cleanings (2 a year) & for any time I go in for my dentist to check anything out. Earlier this year I had to have a root canal - I paid $300 out of pocket for that (plus more for a specialized x-ray that the root canal specialist required). The only catch is you select a participating dentist & they will refer you to others if needed. So it won't work for anyone moving around. Fortunately the dentist I was already going to was on their list.

I hope Ty feels better soon. I know that can be scary.

Dang it, Barbie. This must be so frustrating. We should all celebrate when you finally close.

Hope everyone stays cool & dry.
Take care,

Good Morning, It's still cooler here but I haven't accomplished much except breakfast and a shower. I did sleep well last night but woke up tired. I am still fighting the strange rash that started June 8th!! It almost cleared up and then started up again although it hasn't spread as much. I am also reacting to mosquito bites and had a huge rash on both legs last night from a couple of bites, Also random places that look like a chigger bite will suddenly appear and they hurt and itch terribly for several days. I've been to the doctor and a dermatologist and they have no ideas. So if anyone has thoughts or have experienced any thing similar please let me know.
Beth I hope Ty is feeling better. I'm glad you were able to get him into a vet rather quickly. Emma currently has terrible allergies and has licked herself raw in several places. Nancy took her to the vet yesterday and they gave her a Cytopoint shot. Not something I would do before trying alternative methods but as her co-owner and trainer she always takes her to the vet and also to a chiropractor in KY to keep her in shape from all the jumping she does. Barbie all I can say at this point is good luck and I hope everything works out for the best. I can't imagine how stressful everything has been. I've never heard of a dentist charging that much for a cleaning unless they did that horrible process for cleaning below the gum line!! My husband just had a wisdom tooth pulled by an oral surgeon and it wasn't that expensive.

Guess I should get organized I have an appointment at noon.

BJ, I am very sensitive to mosquito bites an have had to go to urgent care several times, but mine are large red circles with pus-filled centers, not a rash. (In other words, mine are individual bites, not what I think of as a rash.) Could it be something you are putting on them or a new medication you are taking? Or maybe a spray you are using? What about new sheets or towels or some new clothing that you could be allergic to? And can't the dermatologist test you for allergies?

The usual cortisone creams do nothing for my bites, but they usually give me prednisone and antibiotics and that does the trick within a couple of days.

I am on the northern shore of Lake Superior in a town called Marathon. (Lots of trees and small lakes around here, but not many gas stations or restaurants on the highway. Not many cars either.) Marathon has a few stores, including a grocery store, a couple of gas stations, a Tim Horton's, and an ice arena! What more does a small, northern Canadian town need? Tomorrow, I head 20 miles down the road to Neys Provincial park where I have a site reserved directly on the lake shore for four days. Then on to Thunder Bay and parts west!! I'll be in Thunder Bay for four days as well, and they even have a laundromat in the campground and TWO Walmart's in town! WOW!

But I do need to add that it has been cold, windy, and rainy for the last two days of driving. Both days, I have had to hook up in a drizzle. High today was about 62. Tomorrow will be 60, but warming up to 70s Sunday and Monday, with some sun.

TY is slowly improving today. I hope this continues. I want my boy back! Pretty much everything for 3 days has revolved around him. I get so little sleep! Especially after he got fluids yesterday. He pees frequently. But I'm so glad to start seeing some improvement. He has eaten two small meals today so I'm keeping fingers crossed that he doesn't start throwing up again. If so I'll have to give him more of the meds with the yucky side effects, but in a lower dosage.

Judy, I'm enjoying your travels.

Oh Beth I'm so sorry Ty is still sick. I hope he can keep the food down and is on the mend. So scary when they are sick.

Judy thank you for your suggestions I'll double check around the house for possibilities. I thought of you and the way you react to mosquito bites when this started. I haven't taken any steroids as I am allergic to it and many other drugs. I have chemical sensitivities from working in the Art Dept at the university so I am very careful of what we use in and around the house. I only take one medication for BP. My guess in the beginning was Oak Tree Mite rash but now I'm getting places that look like hives or chigger bites. Oak tree mites are very prevalent in Kansas City where one of my friends lives and she sent information on it. The dermatologist didn't suggest any test and didn't prescribe anything. Oddly enough Arm and Hammer toothpaste with baking soda has helped the most.

It was only in the upper seventies here today and supposed to get down to upper 50's tonight!!! Hard to believe after last weeks feel like of over 105

Karen, glad your neighbor is doing ok. My son had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday and his blood pressure was in the 90's. They told him to just take half doses now. I need to tell him that he needs to take his blood pressure before he takes a pill. He has lost about 40 pounds so I think that has a lot to do with it.

The temperature at noon was 94 and there was a breeze. I figured that was about the best temperature I was going to get to mow. I hooked the trailer up, loaded the mower and went to mow in Maurice. I had to mow high and then low in some places because the grass was so tall the last time I mowed. It took me until 5:00 to get it all mowed and some weed killer sprayed. When I got home I mowed the part of the yard that was too wet last week and the front yard. That took me til 7:00. When I came in I had to take a shower and wash my hair. I am tired.

I hadn't eaten lunch so cooked a hamburger and heated some leftover french fries.

Beth, hope Ty is feeling better. Luna will skip a meal sometimes and sometimes she won't eat all her food. What ever is left from one meal I measure and add enough to make a meal. I don't want her getting too fat. The only time she throws up is when I forget to pick up a bowl of cat food and she gets to it. She didn't get enough play time today so I will probably have to go throw her toy for a while.

have had a several really busy days... left Tuesday to go to my grandson's house in Idaho... Brother was late getting here so that made me late leaving so I was almost hitting rush hour traffic ( yes we have rush hour traffic in this little valley) we have a lot of employee's that live in Idaho due to how high apartments rent for here and lack of availability... in fact the rv park closest to Jackson is closing and an apartment housing is going in if I heard correctly sure hope they aren't putting in another motel... I actually was surprised as once I got on the pass it wasn't bad the traffic that is...and the repaired area isn't bad either coming or going...
when I got to my grandson's house we all left to go for birthday dinner for his wife but he wasn't with us as he went to the bachelor party... we went to a Mexican place... pretty good food and so much that we didn't eat much even had Chili Releno's was yummy... got back late enough didn't even open the computer Tuesday up way early off to Pocatello for the wedding we parked in the parking lot and looked at the truck next to us and it was my son... he was looking at dd#4 car mentioned she had a scratch new) and she was wondering where it came from then he noticed a issue with the tire... so after the ceremony we went to Costco it was weird they didn't have the tire had to order it but couldn't order it and have it go to another Costco nor could the other Costco order it without looking at the tire first... so rather than drive it more than needed they put me in my eldest daughter's car and the rest 4 adults and 4 kids in the suburban... dd#1 and I drove to the reception about 1.5 hours away had a really pleasant drive and nice conversation we are usually around so many people that we rarely get to "visit" we even did a letter box... she said that it hasn't been viewed since 2022 thinking it wasn't there it was at the library with permission so dd got out and looked for it came back to the car shrug guess it's not there but decided to look again... it was right there in front of our eyes... one of those if it had been a snake it would have bitten her.... a real clever letter box... it made her happy... enjoyed a laid back happy time... very family orientated first time I'd been to a reception that didn't have sweets there no cake no cupcakes no cookies I was amazed wonder if the bride just isn't into them.... guess we will have to introduce her to cake and dip  left there for a three and half hour drive... son in law took me to my dd's car in Pocatello the rest came a few minutes later (dd #1 was staying with her brother in Burley ... son works for a company that removes the uglies out of a building (lead asbestos ect) they have a contract with a building in Burley so they drive down on Sunday return to SLC on Friday when asked how long he says till .... freezes over ... guess it's a really big job and he is tired of not being with family and Burley just isn't a big city... although larger than I thought.... it was good to be with family all my kids and with the exception of 4 of my grandkids all of my grandkids were there... did I get any pictures NOPE nor did I on repeat the next day oh take that back 2 others weren't there the next night missing son but had 10 of the 14 there... Weds. we went back to Pocatello and got the tire changed but to Rexburg for the other doing's BBQ this time... lots of hamburgers hot dogs veggies and fruit an pasta salad and Ice cream stand two flavors it was in a park the restroom was the pits though one stall no door the other one the lock didn't work just shook my head...
my friends husband is doing so much better we are just thrilled
my cousin called told me the good news nothing is wrong with her... think it was a cyst that burst causing her to hemorrhage...
made it home today a couple hours later than planned
been a good week
have a safe trip Judy
Beth hoping that Ty gets better soon
that is really weird BJ with your rash hoping they can figure it out
Barbie what was the rv like that you went to look at... and here is hoping that the signing is really soon
Martha that sounded like a really busy day lot's of mowing
I've had that deep cleaning and it didn't cost that much... that was quite the projected cost it seems weird seeing that people in that area can just take an hour or so and be in Mexico where it's a lot cheaper...
Sharon be safe on those wet roads...
you all have a great day
