First Saturday of August

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

First Saturday of August

Afternoon all. Looks like I’m first today. Nothing going on. Beautiful day, humidity is down to 43% and dew points at 57%. Temp is currently 78°. Nice breeze from the north. I put my portable AC away and have windows and doors open. Supposed to be in 80’s today, but with the breeze, it will be tolerable. Few clouds starting to appear. The beginning of a cool down that’s coming as we slowly head towards fall. Looking forward to upcoming temps, so I can finish the shutter repaint project and line some landscape ties along edge of front fence line. Make it asker to WD whip without snagging fence and also mow along. Got grass to mow too.

Hey Anne, you can always move here, Judy, enjoy your trip up to Otsego along the coast. You were lucky to get reservation as they will be closing north campground middle of this month to tear don the north toilet/shower building, add a few more sites and then will have 42 full hookup sit s for next season. That’s gong to cut down number of sites available for rest of this year. O’Sharon, hope you are feeling better. Lyn, good to hear from you. Love the trailer name. Hopefully GS will get the ramp built so you can move in. What will you do with your scooter?

Off to work on my Diamond Painting. Doing a custom canvas I had made from a picture I took last fall. Going to be awhile before it’s done. Los of confetti as it’s called. Meaning switching back and forth between colors a lot. Couple diamonds of one, one of another, two or three of annother and back and forth. Takes more time then having one color run for a bit. Stay cool those of you in excessive heat.

Here’s some updates from Jasper. Going through the pictures you can see scorched mountains all around. Heartbreaking for those of us who have been there, way more so for those who live there.

Another hot day in Louisiana. The neighbor wanted to borrow the trailer so walked out to move the truck. Just doing that I had sweat poring off me. I had to sit in front of a fan. Yesterday I went to Maurice and tried to mow. The grass was over knee high. I could only mow about half of it high because the land is too wet. Hopefully we will have a week of no rain. I will try to mow more of the yard here after it cools off.

I had picked up some fried catfish at the deli and made fish tacos with it. Turned out pretty good. I needed better taco shells but made it work. I will look for one of the things that make tacos stand up at Walmart. I know I have seen them somewhere.

The store had ribs on sale so I bought two packages. I saw a post on Facebook where someone put two racks of ribs in a crockpot with a bottle of BBQ sauce so I am trying that.

Afternoon all. It’s a rainy Saturday here in PA as was forecasted. So no mowing for me. Yesterday turned into a mess. Expected to spend about an hour getting inspection done on my car but turned out my car failed! Apparently the fog light wasn’t attached to the bracket that holds it in place. When I filed a claim with my insurance after finding out the whole bumper has to be replaced to the tune of 1524.00 and when they asked me when and what happened I told them I had no clue. It’s a year between inspections and not something I even use since I’m seldom out in the fog at night. Plus I usually take my car to the car wash so again didn’t notice since it’s the passenger side. I think the dealer might have a loaner car for me so that would be a help. And on top of all that son and hi girlfriend were supposed to watch a flight out of a different airport to make connections in Philadelphia. First flight was way late taking off since they didn’t have a crew so they totally missed connecting flight. I suggested they jut do the trip but in reverse so they got a ride finally back to local airport to rent a car and then fly home next week instead of driving. Told him it was part of the adventure! Another reason I don’t like flying. Not sure he’s buying the adventure comment yet! So I was ready to come home and either reach for the chocolate which I have none or wine which I don’t have. The thought had crossed my mind to soak my head in a bucket of water!! Then when I was ready to take Buddy out for his last potty break for some reason I went out first and saw a skunk by the side of the garage. I stayed on the porch and made some noise and it disappeared out of the hole in the fence so crisis averted. The last thing I needed to have Buddy get sprayed. Still not sure why I decided to check the yard but sure glad I did! So far today has been going better at least! With the rain I’m using that as excuse to not go anywhere and just putter around the house! And not go anywhere. Didn’t get to my errands yesterday but not going attempt them today. I keep telling myself I will be able to look at yesterday and laugh or at least smile! Hope no more fires flare up and they can get a handle on the ones that are burning now. Although I’m sure there will be more which is so sad. So that’s it for me today and yes, I remembered rabbits the other night. But the first couple of days aren’t boding well for my luck! So hope you all are having a good day!

The last couple of days have been much cooler here thank goodness but heat is coming back next Monday and Tuesday with heat indexes making it feel over 105 ugh! It's been an unusually hot summer here but guess weather everywhere is changing. Anne I hope you get a chance to move to WA. Sharon you aren't starting the month out very well but at least Buddy didn't get sprayed by the skunk. Martha I don't know how you mow in the heat! Fish tacos sounds good. Emma came home with spaghetti from the Olive Garden restaurant for us. :) Her trainer had taken her to an obedience workshop near the restaurant so they stopped for take out on the way home. Sue I don't think our humidity ever gets down to 43%. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Our friend and his 7 year old daughter stops by to visit every Sunday and she is always entertaining. She usually brings a craft project of some type with her. She watched a video one time and learned to crochet on her fingers. I failed her class, my fingers didn't cooperate  We played store last week and she had to make change for my 'purchases' so this week she is bringing her toy cash register.

Afternoon ladies. I was a busy little bee today ha ha since I was emancipated and can now bend over I was out pulling weeds and pruining my tomato plants. Picked a few good sized onions so they are drying now. Had quite a few strawberries on my plants and they were really sweet. Deadheaded my flowers and adjusted my watering system. Then cleaned the inside of my car. I had lots of pieces of mulch and straw in the back so took out the rubber mat back there, the floor mats, and washed everything up. Did all the back door jams, they sure were dusty. Then washed my car. Had lots of bird poop on it from those dang birds making a nest in my carport rail. But I couldnt evict them as there were babies chirping away up there. But today they are all gone so tomorrow I will cut up my insulation tubes and stick them up there in preparation for next year!!!!!

It was warm out there until my sprayer nozzle broke and squirted me everywhere really well. My shorts were dripping, my hair was wet, and so were my shoes and socks. But I kept working.
I didnt come inside until almost 2 and by then I was starving so had a couple sloppy joes and a big drink of water and of course changed my clothes. Will probably be something light for dinner, I am thinking a small nacho sounds good. I love finger food ha ha
Sharon I hope your month gets better haha I am totally turned off of flying so I wont be going anywhere that route. I used to love to go but not anymore. I love a good road trip tho.
I remembered rabbits and so far so good. 89 outside right now with smoky skies (oh yay) so keeping it a litlle cooler when the sun cant peek out but I dont like the smell. Our humidity is only 48% so that is doable. There are some scattered thunderstorms around. More predicted but mostly east of me. I sure hope no more fires!! Those helicopter pilots are on it tho along with several fire crews and DouglasCounty Fire Protection (DFPA) has lots of tenders as usually no fire hydrants in the hills or roads ha ha So far my favorite pilot to listen to is 5 Mike Mike. I just like his name. I know I am easily amused.

Okay off to see what I am really going to eat.

I will probably end up in California near or in Napa, or in Ohio, and costs will be important. I know everything costs more in California, but do any of you know of people with similar homes to yours who have solar electric grids on their homes? Does it make a difference in their electric bills?

If the climate gets too much hotter, California will be out of the question. I wish my younger son lived somewhere just a bit warmer than the current snow belt he lives in south of Cleveland!

a hot day today saw on the phone once it was 94 for us that is hot but didn't look at the humidity no rain so doubt that it was abnormal ... might have a chance of rain tomorrow... we will hope
I went to the store today but on the way I decided to take a street just west of us... the neighbors just north of us have been moving out slowly I actually thought the other day that they had completed their move (for years they have had a full size dumpster in the driveway and it was gone plus odds an ends of stuff that had been laying around was gone) so really thought they had succeeded the street I went on went pass the back of their house. was really surprised to see in the garage (the door was open) a couple of cycles and some stuff on the wall plus like a utility trailer...so guess they still have a trip to make or two... unless I hear them doubt I will know about it ... Knew the mom but she passed away years ago the dad within the last 3 years am guessing and the ones that have been living here had a house burn down awhile back understand that he finally rebuilt and why they have been moving... be interesting to see what happens to the house...
so got what I went for at the store and of course then some... long time since I've gotten a tv dinner saw a nice looking roast beef mashed potatoes... ect thought as little as mom eats that might with some mashed potatoes that were leftover might feed us both oops not a good idea the box was totally not true... so added some leftover seasoned pulled pork... along with the mashed potatoes... and tender it wasn't not a redo at all and it was a good brand :?
but found grapes at .99 a pound always a win win wish I was going to be going somewhere where I could take that grape salad of Pat's... when I want to they are always really expensive... saw a different term with grapes not long ago ....called them white grapes I've always heard them referred to as green grapes or red... even the bag on the green grapes said white...
going to try a different recipe one that I got from the Mediterranean Dish it's a chicken with peas and spinach don't remember what else oh Orzo are the main ingredients sounds really good hopefully it will be...
I think Martha I saw the same recipe it did sound good
my sister lives in Vegas so she gets much the same heat many of you do she has leased solar panels (because she couldn't afford to buy but at the same time she couldn't afford the electric bill) I don't remember the before and after (it takes about a year to see a change as I recall) but it was outstanding the difference in what the monthly rate became... something to look into if available.
Sandi what type of motor home did you have? Navion? there was another rv sistha that camp out in BLM land aways from where I was one year took lots of pictures of the cactus... can't spell them but the tall ones with arms when I see a trailer with the same name as hers I wonder what happened to her one day I saw 3 of them and it's not a brand you see often... saw one today in a driveway... but can't think of the name at all right now...
you all have a great day
