Last Tuesday in July

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cooler Tuesday

Postby JudyJB » Tue Jul 30, 2024 1:06 pm

Cooler here, so hope it is cooler for most of you. And yes, I am still in Michigan. Will not be crossing border into Canada for another week.

Weird thing with water today. I filled my water tanks yesterday, and thought I had put enough water in, but today I am almost out, so have to drive up to refill. I did do some cooking yesterday, so might have used more than I thought, but I hope I do not have a leak.

Last Tuesday in July

Postby Irmi » Tue Jul 30, 2024 1:15 pm

Good afternoon ladies!

BJ, I want to thank you for the link you sent me on the organ. It is beautiful and sounds wonderful. Lyn sent me a magazine some years back about the organ she mentioned. Lyn, I still have that! Unfortunately, I was contacted that the pipe organ doesn't work. To my knowledge, I will be playing a grand piano instead. It is what it is. I am still honored that I was asked to do this.

It is still in the low to mid 90s with humidity. We have a Ford Focus that we will be taking to MD and have bought a few things for it to make the drive more comfortable. Today we got the windshield cover, an arm rest and a seat support with lumbar support. It can be towed 4 wheels down but is not the most comfortable car on the road. I have a 3-inch cushion that I sit on because I can't see over the steering wheel or hood.

Martha, we have gotten some rain but not much.

Judy, how much water do you use to cook with?? That is a lot of water to lose in one day. Better check for a leak!

My schedule is filling up fast this week! I have a long list of things to take care of around here today. Tomorrow morning I have a plumber coming ($$$ :o) to install the shower handle. Then I have my annual physical in the afternoon. Thursday morning I have to go to the escrow office to sign some papers. Then get the car washed and go to CarMax to see how much they would give me for my car.

Not sure yet if we will close on Friday. :? The HOA documents won't arrive to escrow until August 8th. I could pay for a rush delivery for only $280 more dollars! :o Yeah, right! What a racket!!
Not sure if that is needed in order to close on time, or not. I so, I guess closing will be next Friday  .

Luckily, the winds must have shifted and I woke up to clear blue skies this morning and no smoke smell outside. The Nixon Fire has burned 3700 acres with zero containment and is moving south into San Diego County toward more populated areas. Several areas are being evacuated. :(

I got my new garden hose this morning so I hooked it up to the other spigot outside and removed the screen on the bathroom window and will put the hose thru there so I can use it to flush the toilet and have water to wash my hands with, without having to go outside.

Time for lunch and then back outside with my to-do list...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie, is there any chance you could replace the shower handle yourself? I replaced mine, but I did have a small access panel to reach it. Maybe yours is harder to reach.

The problem with water is that the campground only has water fill stations at the dump station, and the road is not terribly even, plus I did not check my monitor for water amount when I left it. I just refilled it, and definitely checked it this time. It looked full, but when I pulled into my spot,it was about 1/4 down, but camp site is not 100% level either. Will be checking it tonight and tomorrow.

Good evening. Fairly nice outside right now 85. Heating up tomorrow and for about a week. Oh well it is summer. One more day of no lifting or bending over and I can get back to my regular routine, except for all the drops LOL But small price to pay for better sight.

I spent part of the day sewing new squeakers in some of Emma's toys. I bought a needle threader some time back and now I can actually see to work it. It is hard tho as I have the toys on my lap and Emma thinks she wants THAT one now, and she doesnt give up easily. So I waited until she went to sleep and finished two of them. Had to be careful not to accidentally squeeze the squeaker. Some life I have LOL

I am tired already tonight and I know it is just from doing nothing. I hate doing nothing for this long. I like a "me" day once in a while just not for almost 2 weeks. I cant bend over to dead head my flowers, I can fertilize and water tho so that helps. I sprayed the weeds early this morning. Brought 2 of my security cameras in to recharge them. Not much of a list of chores!!! I like a project every day. Big or small but like to feel like I accomplished something. Tomorrow I need to go pay my rent and get my mail.

I finished delivering electric bills today. I only had a few I wasn't able to find home. Otherwise a pretty uneventful day. I took my shower after dinner then walked TY while my hair was wet to try to stay cool. It helped for about 10 minutes (my hair was dry by then) lol. Time for bed.

had to go to the store today picked up a prescription wished they all cost this much .47 and some recently have been 00.00 I can handle no fee RX not sure how it happened though if I'd gotten the Zpack it wouldn't have cost anything either... totally amazing
had a baby shower to go to so hurried home and put stuff away and heated up some soup for mom and the kid downstairs... I totally need to replenish my canned soup supply it's empty guess while sick I used it a lot  try to not use it a lot mostly when not in the mood to cook at all or on the day I go to the stores seem to not want to fix anything then usually I pick up something that is easy to fix .... I wasn't totally sure that I would go to the shower but decided to when the air cleared a lot they had neat sammies you know the kind you rarely make for yourself? one was not sure what deli meat with fig jam on it and a slice of apple on a brochette slice cream cheese with sliced cucumber although they did have chicken salad and egg salad and a really yummy watermelon salad with feta cheese and pine nuts and some sort of green not sure what and lots of squares of brownies and lemon squares... just really nice she got lots of stuff... their youngest is I'm guess 10 all boys and this one is a I'd didn't think I could get pregnant and gave up baby and a girl.... so they are just excited... had it on the lawn at the church until a more than sprinkles started up moved everything inside and by then it quit but they were some big drops... we do need moisture it's been way hot and oh so windy this month so it's tinder dry
just sad to hear of the fires going on... hope yours gets under control Barbie sounds like the other major one in CA is still barreling through the mountains... is the one in Jasper under control yet?
Judy are you on some thing so you can visually see if there is more moisture under the motor home? it's frustrating when things aren't level and you get less than planned
a chilly day today don't think it got to 70 which is good in some ways
our friends finally made it home from Norway.... she was at the shower they got home Friday glad they were able to make it back safely it was her daughter in law's shower
it sounds like that your not bending over is almost over Karen speaking of dead heading (not a favorite thing of mine to do ) I need to do so to some geraniums and one plant at least I assume that it needs to be dead headed
Irimi are you taking the motor home and towing or driving and staying at motels?
I wouldn't want to not have a good A/C in your area Barbie... hopefully every thing goes smooth with regards to your sale of your house and getting everything taken care of.
I may drag out the winter pj's for tonight ...
started the flower for the hat and finished one of the dish clothes I wanted to do 3 in each color as well as a towel in each color not sure I will have enough yarn to do that of the yellow will see I guess... I am hoping to go to Joann's while I'm in Idaho next week
you all have a great day

I usually end up running my water tank over since I'm not going to go inside and watch the gauge which is usually wrong anyway.

It got up to 98 today so had to wait until late to walk. I have been letting Luna walk off leash unless a vehicle comes by. That isn't very often. She loves to smell and explore. When I get too far ahead she comes running at full speed. I hope she doesn't ever run into me because she will knock me down. I need to work on a couple of her toys too. She doesn't try to tear anything unless the stuffing starts coming out and then she wants to keep pulling it out.

I can't find anything to watch on TV but Friends reruns. I would think I have seen them all but every once in a while I see a new one. There is nothing on NBC but Olympics.

The weather people are talking about something tropical in a week. Right now they think it will stay to the East around Florida or go up the East Coast. Beryl was suppose to go into Mexico and ended up hitting Houston and East Texas.

Judy and Martha, There is a gauge you can get for the end of your water hose that shows how many gallons of water is coming out so you don't have to run inside to check every few minutes. I remember having to do that and it was a PITA! :o . I plan to get one of those gauges from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Insoma-Measure-C ... 16&sr=8-10

Judy, I thought about trying to replace the handle myself but I don't want to mess with it right before closing in case I screw it up somehow, especially dealing with water pipes. I just want it done right and soon. Seems all my projects take much longer than I expect them to, mostly because I screw something up and have to redo it.

Here is my handiwork with the hose thru the bathroom window and the opening covered with a piece of cardboard...

Makes my life much easier until I get my water turned back on. I have a bowl in my bathroom sink with soapy water in it for washing my hands.

I got most of the caulking done on the deck but still have some to do on the side of the house yet. Will try to get that done tomorrow morning.

Getting sleepy here so have a good night!
