Tree trimming Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tree trimming Friday

Postby BarbaraRose » Fri Jun 14, 2024 10:31 am

Well, I had good intentions...the tree trimmers, tho, decided to start on my street early this morning, so I just went out and moved my car across the street under an empty carport where there are no palm trees around. I have two in my yard that they will be trimming, one in front and one in back. They have to move my patio table/umbrella from the front patio to my carport to get their boom truck in to reach the back tree. They back up right on to the patio, inches from my shed :o . So no work for me on the deck this morning. If they get done soon enough before it gets too hot, I will get out there for a bit.

It will be a noisy morning. Between the chain saws and the chipper, I won't be sleeping in at all.

Have a good day!

Good morning. Not too much happening here today. Got the garbage out to the curb and it is full this week. Lots of yard clippings and trimmings. Have Henry doing his thing and a load of laundry in. Think I will continue my organizing in my bedroom. Time to weed out the clothes I never wear for whatever reason LOL Some too big, some too small, some I just dont like. Have my dresser drawers all cleaned and reorganized. Now for the closet.........sigh. Get all this done and then I will shampoo the bedroom carpet early so it has time to dry. Hopefully tomorrow morning. It isnt really that dirty so will just use the express shampoo setting.

Washed my car yesterday and today will vacuum, dust, and wash the inside windows. Got all my fertilizer organized. Some for berries, some for hydrangeas and azaleas. Some for roses. Then some basic for flowers and shrubs. The berries like acidic soil so I have some acidifier to add to the soil. Watering system seems to be doing great so far. We havent had any really HOT days yet. I am sure there will be some tho. I can hit the Manual button on my timer and set the time usually for 5 or 10 minutes in the really hot days. I deadheaded the flowers this morning to encourage more blooms. My geraniums are doing great.

Need to think about something for dinner. Thinking salmon, corn on the cob, and a veggie.

Quiet day on here! Where was everyone today besides me and Karen?

The tree trimmers showed up right after I posted this morning. I could hear the palm fronds hitting the roof! They moved my glass table, umbrella, and umbrella base under the carport but then left without moving it all back. It is heavy and/or awkward so I didn't want to move it back myself. The guys were taking their lunch down the street so I walked down there and asked if they could move my stuff back. They came right over to put it back for me.

Then I decided to start working on the deck. I used wood glue to hold down the metal trim since the nails weren't staying in very well. Then hosed off the deck, and then the driveway. I had texted the handyman guys (father and son) about replacing my rotten trim pieces. They stopped by to take a look and said they have some extra pieces that they could cut a couple pieces to fit and put them on for me. They will be back tomorrow with that. I will just have to paint them.

I finished hosing off the driveway and then about 2pm I started feeling flushed and then chilled, so I went in the house, got a cold wet cloth for my face and neck, turned the AC down more and the blower way up and laid down on my bed for awhile. Felt better after about half an hour but took it easy for awhile after that. It got to 112* today. Not a good day to be outside in the afternoon. Supposed to get to 114* tomorrow.

Earlier, I had hosed off the chair cushions and put them on the grass to dry in the sun, so I went out to see if they were dry yet. I picked one up and turned it over and it was full of fire ants! :o I got stung 3 times on the palm of my left hand! Ouch! I have been putting aloe vera gel on it and ice. They are not so painful tonight but I am sure they will get very itchy later. I need to call maintenance on Monday morning and have them come over and put stuff down to get rid of them.

Still have a few things to do outside tomorrow but will get started early and quit by 10am. I want to caulk the 1/4" space between the deck and the side of the house to keep water from going down under the deck when I hose it off. Then once the guys put up the wood trim, I will paint that. Hopefully, they will be here in the morning.

Time for bed...
