And Now It’s Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

And Now It’s Thursday

Postby Colliemom » Thu May 16, 2024 7:29 am

Morning all. Sun is up in a clear sky, but clouds will roll in later. Supposed to have showers tonight. No complaints from me on that. It has been a beautiful weather pattern here this week with plenty of sun and comfortable temperatures. I know how those of you on the east coast feel, as we had what seemed like rainy weather for too long as well. But this week has more than made up for it. So, Shirl, Sharon and thoseeast of me should have something to look forward to. Martha, glad to hear that you are surviving all the storms down your way.

It has been quite a week for me this this week. To begin with, I was in an accident with my truck on Monday. Yes, I’m fine but truck isn’t. Let’s just say I had a collision with a stopped street cleaning truck and it smashed up the front end. But the truck did what it was supposed to and absorbed the impact, air bag deployed and OnStar was on in 3 seconds. Tod him I was finem, just need a Police Officer, the which of the he called. Tow truck hauled it away and now am awaiting my insurance companies determination as to repair or total. In the meantime, I am without wheels as the rental car places here do not have any vehicles at the moment. But decided to wait a bit, to see what the outcome is gong to be and go from there. I have nothing pressing on my calendar for another week. P,us my Wonderful neighbors have offered me a ride to my chiropractor and grocery shopping yesterday and one other couple was heading into Menards yesterday, so asked if I wanted to go along as thry knew I need some materials to finish up my two big projects. So I’m in business for now :D

So I’ve been taking advantage of this weather and have gotten a lot of yard work done, old retaining wall blocks and stuff moved away from my porch and area cleared to install new ones, wood caps on top of stair rail posts and one top rail installed, grass cut and trimmed, little sticks raked up in back, two small trees I cut down, cut up and in the brush pile and the front sub entrance mowed and trimmed. You tired yet  Nice to have things under control out there. This morning, Since ran is coming tonight, I’m gong to trench and level the dirt for installation of first course of new wall blocks by porch step. Then will put down some gravel and start laying the blocks. Ground is dry, so good tine to do that. If it gets too warm in sun later, I’ll work in my planter box n garage. Then will see where things go as far as getting dirt down the line here.

Shelia, glad your mom is now with Hospice. Things will work out so much better for you and family. Barbie, hope your unemployment comes through. Irmi, sounds like you had a nice little vacation. Hoping doc appt. Turns out good. And yes, sometimes money flows out for stuff we would rather avoid, but unfortunately things happen. At our age, it’s just get it taken care of and move on. Judy in same situation. Hope they can fix all the stuff you need done.

And I better get a move on and get outside while the morning is cool. Have a nice day all. And if I have forgotten anybody, not intentional. Just been reading to catch up and too much to remember.

Good morning Sue. I am sure glad you are fine. Sorry about the truck tho...you never know what those insurance people will do. Your insurance company should find you a rental if you find you will need one. If they total it no need but if they are going to repair it that takes a while. Glad you have good neighbors tho to help out each other.
Just puttering inside as my friend is coming this morning or early afternoon for a few days so cannot get into much outside except watering. I dont want to get all hot and sweaty before she gets here. One shower is enough to start my day. Going to be low 80's again today but then cooling down to high 70's and eventually down in the high 60's....crazy weather for sure. BUT it is not raining right now. Need to get my onion sets in the ground so will do that this morning, easy job.
Ribs for dinner tonight with some roasted veggies and salad.
Better get my bod moving before I get distracted on the computer LOL

Good Morning, Sue that’s a shame about your truck. Glad you ended up without injuries.

Sue, so glad you are okay, but I'm sorry about your truck! Sheila, happy that you have someone coming in to help. Still worrying about everyone in stormy areas. Just windy here today.

My daughter and I seldom talk on the phone, but she called last night. She has part of the biopsy results on the tissue which shows nothing so good news there. I'm not sure why she suddenly doesn't think they will be doing surgery, but maybe helps keep her anxiety down. At any rate, I will leave on the train Tuesday. Might as well worry there and I can always turn around if needed. Now I have to start thinking about packing and train food!

Time for brunch!

Good afternoon gals!

Sue, sorry about your truck but glad you are OK. Sounds like you are keeping busy even without wheels!

Martha, as you probably know, male cats are so prone to UTI's and they can die from those if not treated quickly. We lost one of our cats to that when I was a kid. He didn't come home from his 3 day/night gallivanting until he was really sick and by the time we got him to the vet, he died right there. He was my buddy! That was tough on me. :( Anyways, glad you caught it before going camping.

I went for my PT this morning. They worked me over good today! The clinic is in an area that has a very high population of Mexicans so everyone who works there is Mexican (and most of their clients) and they are all SO nice! One of the young male therapists is so hot and it is hard for me to concentrate on what I am supposed to be doing!  I lose track of my counting!

Need to make some phone calls to doctors and then really get things done around here! :o I have been too lazy lately, but I am tired of looking at the mess in here.

My friends Debbie and Dave are leaving on Saturday for Oregon for 3 months. His mom passed away last week and they need to get her house cleaned out and put up for sale. So I will be alone here now with my friends all gone. :( At least Gloria isn't too far away to visit, but I sure miss her being next door.

I am thinking of putting my swing up on my deck. It will just fit and will be a good shady place to use it. I have had it on the back patio facing the green space but it is always too sunny back there so I rarely use it. Need to hose off the deck first and put the outdoor rug down.(It has been super windy this past week so there is a lot of dust out there). There is a guy just down the street that I will ask if he can help me move it up there. I don't know him well but he seems very friendly. I think he and his wife will be leaving soon for the summer so I should get that done soon. I still have a few little touch-ups to do out there and get the trim tacked down better but can do that with the swing up there.

Tomorrow is the phone interview with unemployment. Hoping that goes well in my favor!
That will take a big load off me financially for awhile. I think I can afford to then put some of those payments into my savings account to build that back up.

Well, I better get to those phone calls.... have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Sue, I'm so sorry about your accident, but glad you're ok. That's most important. Martha, your lucky with the weather! But I think it's a good time to not travel. Barbie, good luck with your unemployment interview.

Anita, I'm so glad to hear good news for your daughter.

I just did two posts, heavy on the pictures, on FB for those of you there. I had so much fun in Tombstone with Ginger this morning.

I arrived at the REV customer service on Tuesday night, found a spot in their large and paved parking lot, and plugged in. All the rest were big As, and mine was only C.) Wednesday morning I had to have my rig closed up and unplugged, and then be in the office by 7 am, which I was, but loooooonnnnng day in waiting rooms is horrible. Made some new friends and all did a lot of talking about stuff. They inspected slides and said rollers were creating grooves in particle boards, so they added thin piece of metal, which they should have done when rig was made!!!! screwing rollers onto particle board and running them on particle board is just plain cheap.

Also, did not need a water heater. Problem with leak was in a hose, which they replaced. Also nailed in a couple of loose wall panels.

I also have had a recent problem with lots of water pressure in bathroom, but almost none in kitchen, so they checked everything and told me I needed new faucet, so went to ACE hardware and bought one. But this morning discovered it was wrong, and no way to get back, but nice lady drove me to Walmart's and i picked one up. In meantime, mechanic had found one which was basic, but he had already installed it. I will hold onto new one from Walmart as as spare. Took one to ACE when I left at noon today. (Had to get up at 5:30 am this morning to be ready at 6 am!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aaaaagggghhhhh!! I am NOT a morning person, so only drove part way to campground near my son and am staying in RV area with electric at rest area on Ohio Turnpike. Only $20 and very handy. I will get to bed soon and drive last couple of hours in the morning when I am not so tired. Whew.

Oh, they could not do anything about shower door or couch, but I have some ideas on those.

Karen, my insurance company will pay the cost of a rental if you have rental as part of your insurance policy, the which of I do not. But being we only have two rental companies here, Hertz and Enterprise, they have a program in place that gives me discount in rental fees. If I need a bodyshop for repairs, they can make arrangements for a loaner. But checking with Hertz, they said they are booked out several weeks. At the moment no vehicles available. But I rechecked with Enterprise again this morning, nice lady took my claim number, checked into the situation, got the State Farm codes and has a vehicle reserved for me. Will get it Monday morning and have it reserved for 8 days. By then I should have the determination on my truck. And yes, I have wonderful neighbors here. I’m all set for the weekend. My one cuz is picking me up Saturday morning and we are going to spend the day at her sisters garsge sale.

Sue... glad that you weren't seriously hurt it helps when the vehicle takes the brunt of it.... hopefully it can be fixed quickly... always a help when you can ask the neighbors
I shouldn't have but think I took the day off  got up and took care of breakfast went and did scriptures talked with dd #4 her dd who is 10 I believe fell of some school play equipment yesterday and they were waiting for word back she was getting pretty irritated at the length of time to get word and lack of communication ...later she texted us all and she does have a broken arm more on the upper close to shoulder type of area so can't be cast she is supposed to hear from an Ortho tomorrow in the mean time she is in a sling... the kid went to school today :o while listening to a pod caste I finished up the dish towels I was crocheting tried to get them the same size but didn't succeed one is about a half inch longer than the other... oh well didn't care enough to pull it out... and doubt that dd will ever measure them to know they aren't exact...
Anita where are you going on the train? I really would like to take the train down and up the coast have seen aids for it... sounds so neat glad that your daughter is doing better...
we have been having nice weather for a change makes one want to venture outside to get things ready to plant but didn't and don't imagine it will happen tomorrow I think if I get to it I will go and pay the bill I owe for the tests and clinic visit I had awhile back and maybe I will see if I can get a pedi need it really bad could do it in Utah but they don't allow the rasp to be used there and my feet really need it and not sure I will have time while there or not will be leaving to go to Utah on Saturday my #3 dd is taking mom up to Bob's for the week he will bring her back on either Friday or Saturday I'm not sure which and we will go over to the cemetery on probably Sunday we traditionally do that but it's also probably the best day weather wise or at least that is what the report says now ... hopefully it won't change
you all have a great day
