Breezy Saturday

It is very breezy today. Was cool enough overnight that I turned on the heat for awhile but now have windows open for a nice crossbreeze!

Finally got all the rest of the handles put on yesterday. Looks so much better! They even match the contact paper I put on the cabinet doors and drawers in the bedroom nicely.

Good morning. Had a snow event here last night and this morning that caused multiple accidents all over town and in the passes. Closed I-5 freeway off and on so they could clear the accidents. There are 4 passes south of me so they closed the freeway at 7 Feathers Casino for a while LOL Which was a good place for the trucks as 7F has a huge truck stop. The snow is melting quickly and there wasnt that much accumulation here at my house. Only about an inch. But hey, it is NOT raining..yet.
Anita yes we did get a lot of rain starting in October. It is just continuing into this year. I was YAY rain. I kept up the Pro rain theme until this past week or so.
Anne I used to go over to Lassen quite a bit when I lived down there. Some good hiking trails or walkways as I liked to stick to. I lived in the Portland area when
Mt St Helens blew and we suffered with so much ash for weeks. I used to take my boat and go fishing up at the base on Spirit and Yale lakes. Thought it would never get done covering us with ash.

Barbie those handles look really nice. You chose wisely. I have been working on my list this morning and so far doing well. I unpacked a box that had my 2 new handheld shower heads in it. I knew they were somewhere but no idea where. When I got the 2 walk in showers put in I just used the ones that they gave me. So today I installed one in my bathroom and one in the guest bathroom. Henry is on the job this morning, now I am moving to installing my antenna on my living room tv that I keep putting off. Then need to see what I will fix for dinner. I still have some leftover sloppy joe mix so will have that for lunch. See, I am way more motivated when it is not pouring rain LOL

I was digging in the freezer looking for something for lunch and found a casserole that wasn't labeled. I managed to cut off a piece and heat it in the microwave. It was a potato, ham and cheese casserole. Probably something I made to take camping. I am forever putting things in the freezer thinking I will remember what it is and never do. Also found some BBQ Beef Brisket packed in individual servings to make sandwiches. So for lunch I had some of the casserole and a brisket sandwich.

When I went out to feed the cats I decided to mix up a sprayer of weed killer. It is really too breezy to spray very much so just sprayed around the old house and not close to my flowers. Last year I dug up one of the Iris flowers that grow in the ditches. It's in one of the old feed tubs and it looks like it is coming back. My two little pots of Mums froze but they are coming back. I should have put them in the old house. The Ficus tree is still in the old house and the Bougainvillea hanging plant too. I wish I knew if we were going to have another cold spell. That tree is hard to move.

The year we went to the Grand Canyon we stayed in a campground somewhere that was an old lava field. I think it was a state park but don't remember what state. There was just sites with no electric or water.

Barbie, your handles look nice. In 2006 when we moved in this house I had some upper and lower shelves and cabinets built in my office. We bought some handles to put on the doors and drawers and I have no idea where they are. I have come across them several times but there was too much going on to worry about the handles and they disappeared again.

It kind of looks like it could rain but the radar shows all the rain East of here. The neighbor is mowing again and I probably should too. The yard is ok but the clover going to the barn is getting tall. It's up to 77 outside so will have to turn the air conditioner back on.

I did a lot of driving yesterday because I had to go to the post office, which in the Big Cypress is 20 miles away! Closest one, but I needed to send a package via priority mail. Postman is there an hour or so in the morning, and then back from 12-4 pm, and he gets mostly tourists stopping by just to take photos because it is the smallest post office in the U.S. but very handy when there is no others nearby. Also stopped at Kirby Storter rest area and walked the one-mile boardwalk. Not as many birds as last time but I saw a few. Spent an extra hour in their parking lot to upload photos to my blog and upload one video to YouTube. I get a tiny bit of cell service here in campground, but very tiny bit.

So, I slept in this morning. Made my bed, got dressed, and decided to heat up some soup I had frozen. Freezer is very full so wanted to get rid of stuff. Of course, while getting it out of freezer, I found some other things in there that needed to be tossed. Then put soup in mug in microwave and set it a couple of minutes. Did dishes from last night, and realized how bad my sink looked, especially the right side under the dish tub. So got out Comet from under sink and realized the new long and narrow organizer that I bought would help keep all the bottles upright, so wiped them all off and put them in organizer. Then used Comet on both sides of sink. Took dishpan full of dishwater and set it in shower, added bleach, scrubbed shower a bit, and put toilet brush to soak. Back to finish sinks and rinse them. Put drained dishes away. Filled three water bottles with chocolate milk I make from cocoa, which allowed me to get rid of milk bottle from fridge. Put water in ice cube tray and put it in freezer.

It is now two hours later, and I remembered my soup in the microwave, so finally heated it up and having some fresh-squeezed OJ. Whew!! And people wonder why I do not eat meals at regular times!!

Barbie, you did a good job on the handles. I bought some containers to use in the tt fridge and made sure they'd fit. Not perfect, but workable and easy cheaper than replacing all the shelves (I might still replace some of them). My neighbors and I went to an ice cream parlor today. Cute place. We had lunch and, of course, ice cream. Lunch was ok basic. The ice cream was way too much (I ate it all) and I would go back there. Maybe once a year lolol We waited for today because it was back in the 80's.

Beth, I replaced a refrigerator shelf one time with some of the white wire shelves you can buy at Lowe's or Home Depot. They can be cut to size but you will have to find someone with a big wire or bolt cutter.

Martha, I could do that in my C, but the fridge in the tt the shelves have to have two pieces on both sides that go into slots on the side of the fridge. And I don't have the tools. Anne, I don't have a hacksaw in my RV. Actually, I've never owned one.

Never owned a hacksaw???

Oh my. I find hacksaws to be extremely useful tools. They are used primarily to cut metal (I use them to cut small pieces of wood as well), and are generally very inexpensive.

Blades will last quite a while, a replacement blade might set you back a fast dollar or two.

Hacksaw? Don't leave home without it!

Get a couple of wooden dowels (they come in various diameters) that will fit into the slots inside the fridge - use your new hacksaw to cut the dowels to the length you need. Then trim (with your new hacksaw!) the wire shelf Martha mentioned to fit, and set the cut-down shelf on top of the dowels. Maybe use a small piece of silver duct tape to wrap around the dowels and the shelf wires to help keep the shelf in place.

Done!

I should get a hacksaw to cut my gourds. The little power saws are very expensive.

There was a craft show here today. All stuff made by people who live here. We have some very talented residents! I bought a pretty box with koi fish on the lid made with rhinestones. Very pretty! The weekly BBQ was at the same time in the same area so I had a burger while I was there too and sat with some neighbors.

It was breezy this morning, but when I walked out of the clubhouse to go home, there was a dust storm blowing thru and very high winds. Got a ride back home from my neighbors on their golf cart. My eyes still burn from the dust! There were palm fronds everywhere! When I say "palm fronds", I mean the base part of the frond that is left on the tree after they trim the green live palm fronds off each spring. They eventually blow off from the winds.

Today, a lady here in the park got hit by one of them and it cut a 3 inch gash in her head and she had to get stitches! They don't weigh a lot but they are stiff and sharp, and with a strong wind they can do damage when they hit things. I had the fronds stripped off the trunk of my tree out front a couple years ago because it was dropping whole sections of them at a time in my driveway.

I got some laundry done but that was about it. I work tomorrow but then have 2 days off. Monday is our end of season Putters luncheon, and Tuesday is our last day of putting for the season.

Wind is still blowing strong! There is a high wind warning here until tomorrow night.
