It’s Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

It’s Sunday

Postby Othersharon » Sun Nov 05, 2023 11:59 am

Good morning ladies. It’s going to take a few days to get used to the time change but it always does! We were up much earlier than we usually are but don’t figure that’ll last long! Yesterday I managed to spend most of the day blowing and raking leaves from the backyard. Now I have a few huge piles to get taken to the dump. I’m still hoping my son will bring his truck and my trailer up to help me haul them away. Otherwise I’ll have to fill bags and take a few at a time in my Outback. The bending to do that, I’ve finally discovered is what makes my back scream. But we’ll see if he comes through for me. Buddy and I took a walk around the neighborhood yesterday and he did quite well. Work in progress for both of us but feel like there is hope! He had such a good time running through the leaves yesterday as I was working. Told him he wasn’t much help! But then who can resist a big pile of leaves! So today will probably be a repeat of yesterday. At least it’s a bit nicer and not raining or snowing. Plus temps are a bit warmer so need to take advantage of the nicer weather! So time for me to quit sitting and get outside! Have a great day!

Good afternoon Sharon and all that check in!

Sharon, I always look forward to your "Buddy" stories and hope things continue to move in a positive direction. And so far it sounds like they are!

We woke up to 46 degrees in central FL this morning but now that we're home from church, it is 81 and sunny. That's more my kind of weather. Our bed linens are in the washer and once they're dry, I'll put them back on the bed as that's the only flannel set of sheets we have, but have lots of the others. It's that time of the year that we need to have our patios and casitas pressure washed, so Steve spends a couple hours everyday doing that. That's supposed to be done by Dec. 1, so we have plenty of time. It's a work in progress, especially when you don't have the commercial equipment to do it with. We got ours from Amazon and it works for us.

I'm enjoying reading all your posts, so I'll end here and wait for yours.

Good morning. Been up since a little before 4. Time change screws me up for a couple of days. Good thing the dog could care less. If I sleep in so does she, if I get up so does she. We had quite the rain, thunder, lightning storm for the entire afternoon and into the night I didnt see Emma for several hours, she hides usually under my bed.

We broke a record. Usually the brunt of the storm goes around my little town but not yesterday. These are measured at the Roseburg airport which is right by my house so I know we really did get this.

Roseburg received a record amount of rain for the date on Saturday.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the Roseburg Regional Airport registered 2.14 inches of rain. The previous record for November 4th was 1.1 inches of precipitation, which happened in 1973. Rainfall was heaviest in Roseburg late in the evening.

Will just be puttering around the house for a while. It is still way too soggy to go outside and do anything but I am ok with that. We should see 63 this afternoon. I see some sunshine peeking out from behind the clouds. Need to pay my property taxes and deposit a check into my savings acct. Love that I can do it on my phone.

About once a month or so, not on any schedule, I have a night where I just cannot get to sleep. Last night, I went to bed at midnight, and did not get to sleep until 5 am, and that was really 6 am. Slept until 10:30 am, then got up and put my slides in, dumped tanks, and reparked and setup. Only then did I get something to eat, which was around noon. Going to make a couple of pasties for dinner tonight--eat one and freeze one.

Winds have calmed down and sun has been out all day, so maybe a beach walk tomorrow?? Just relaxing today, catching up on a few things indoors.

Barbie, try this for your bug bites. It really works and has saved me from the giant bites I usually get that require antibiotics and prednisone! https://www.amazon.com/bite-away%C2%AE-Chemical-Free-FDA-Cleared-Dermatologist-Tested/dp/B07Y3X5JDZ?th=1 It is not cheap and it is also available at Target, per their website, but it works. You can also put something really hot on your bites. I know a Canadian doctor with CLL who uses the side of his cup of tea, but others have said to use a hot spoon. Only problem with those things is that the heat and timing is not controlled as it is with Bite Away. It heats up to a specific temp and holds it for either 3 or 6 seconds. I have had no burns, though it does sting a bit.

I got home from the campout about noon and decided to wash the motorhome before I put it up. It was probably too warm to be washing it. I used some soap made for fiberglass boats and it worked better than the car wash soap. I was going to wash the car too but ran out of steam.

We had wonderful weather for the campout. Not too hot during the day and not too cold at night. We had 14 women, 4 I have camped with a lot, a couple I have met once and some new ladies. There was the Omelet Festival going on in town so Saturday we went to check out the craft booths set up in the square. The only thing I bought was some sweet dough pies. The label said Dawn's Lost Recipes. She can lose the recipe for her pies. The dough was not sweet at all.

We were warned when we checked in that there was bear activity in the park and to not put trash in the small cans, to put trash in the dumpsters. Two women went to see if they could take pictures of the bear at the dumpsters and saw him. The park called him a juvenile bear but standing up his head was over the side of the dumpster. Found out there are 4 bears in the park, a mother with two juvenile females and the male. About 3 this morning I heard some banging and I'm sure it was one of the bears trying to get in one of the small cans that was 3 sites down from me. There wasn't suppose to be trash in the small cans but you know people don't listen. I guess when they get tired of picking up all the trash they will relocate the bears.

Saturday night we cooked steaks over the campfire. I had never done that and wasn't too sure how that would work but my steak was very good. Some had wrapped potatoes and sweet potatoes in foil and put them by the fire. I don't know if they ever got done. I decided I didn't need a potato.

Martha, I love hearing about your campouts! Brings back many good memories. Didn't think about bears in your area. Beth, isn't it amazing how people don't make trailers, etc. presentable when selling? Barbie, now that November is here, I'm hoping more people will be looking at your place!

Had a good bit of fog this morning, but it was a pretty day eventually. More rain coming. I didn't even think about daylight savings until I saw it mentioned online. Not something that bothers me. I did get a little confused about the time and football games since I had clocks that didn't automatically change! I went over to the kids' house at half time of Seahawks' game. Game was so boring, Monica and I quit watching and I think Alan turned it off before it was over. They got beat big time! I happened to check the Leavenworth webcam last night and all the Christmas lights were on and again tonight! No supposed to be until the 24th or 25th.

Here's to a good week ahead!

before I forget Martha if I'm recalling correctly do this with your potatoes... preboil them then wrap in foil and put into the coals... that way they are mostly cooked and just need to reheat... it's awfully hard to bake a potato in the coals in a reasonable amount of time... or slice them up in big chunks and double wrap they should cook faster that way ...
a typical Sunday church scriptures and nap oops make that church nap scriptures... mom popped her head in my room "to see what I am doing" then about 4:45 she came down and asked if we were going to have supper... I explained that the time changed and all the clocks were wrong and it was only 4:45 I was crocheting on the hat so finished the row and started another one but decided I'd better go work on supper... we had creamed peas and potatoes got some of those petite reds steamed them and then added them to the white sauce and peas had ham as well as broccoli and cole slaw got them too saucy will need to had some cabbage to what is left over...
I wish this room would get warmer don't know if cause the pellet stove is set at 70 if that makes the thermostat for the heater think it's hot in this room or not guess since we rarely are in the room with the pellet stove need to turn it down earlier in the evening and see if this room gets warmer... will have to try that except on Sunday's as mom sits at the table with her lap top for chat still could turn it down at 10 though... that takes making change I don't do that well
Sharon I have seen different reports that indicate that leaving leaves on the lawn is good might research it might solve all the pickup issues
you all have a great night

Martha, I just saw an article about a bear that shredded the outside of a travel trailer in a campground in NC (I think) trying to get inside! They are trying to fatten up for winter and are getting more aggressive in their search for food! They can smell food miles away. Glad you had such a fun campout with great weather. That makes such a big difference!

Anita, there are a lot of Seahawks fans here in the park and they have football parties that I can always here during those games with loud cheering, etc. I was wondering yesterday why I wasn't hearing anything from my neighbors. Now I know why! :o
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
