Monday mowing

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday mowing

Postby BarbaraRose » Mon Sep 18, 2023 11:26 am

Good morning gals!

I heard the lawn mowers about an hour ago so I got up and moved my car across the street. They scalped the lawn over there on Friday and are now doing my side of the street. I don't want all that dirt, grass and debris all over my car so I moved it. Also, they come by after mowing with the giant leaf blower, and with my car out of the way, they can blow out my car port better. Then I just have to blow off my deck for the most part, later.
Romeow is sitting in the window watching the mowers. I also made sure all my porch windows are closed tight.

Got all my laundry done yesterday, 3 loads plus my bedding. I usually don't wait 3 weeks to do it but I got lazy until I ran out of clean clothes to wear. At least it takes the same amount of time to wash 4 loads as it does to wash one load. It is just the folding and putting away that takes longer. Need to do the putting away today.

I might putter with a project or two today. Will see how motivated I am... :?

Temps are supposed to stay down below 100 this week and even a high of "only" 90 on Wednesday! Lows in the lower 70's and upper 60's as well. So if it isn't too windy at night, I could turn off the AC and open my windows.

Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Packed up my motorhome and pulled out of my site this morning with no problems. Headed to Walmart to pick up a handful of things, but when I came out, the engine just would not start. Ran the generator a while and tried the emergency start and still no luck, so I called CoachNet and am sitting in my recliner waiting for a mobile repair person to arrive. It might be a while because they are very busy, but one good thing about CoachNet is that they call you to let you know they have not forgotten about you. It is not hot today, so I don't have the generator and AC on yet. Might need it in a while.

I got a new battery last spring, but it might be an alternator---who knows? My plans were to head to a sandwich place in Cleveland and pick up some pastrami, but they have now closed for the day. My reservation for Monroe, MI, is not until tomorrow and I was planning to spend the night along the freeway, but not sure what will happen today.

Sure is nice to have a motorhome to wait in instead of a car!! Just fixed myself a sandwich and am enjoying a late lunch.

Judy, hope they can get you going before too long. I carry a battery charger/starter. I have started my generator and used it with an extension cord to start my motorhome. Hope it's not your alternator. I had a nightmare getting mine replaced. There was a solenoid that needed replacing and the new alternators kept going bad until they replaced the solenoid.

I met Laura at an RVW Convention in San Antonio in 2009. We all had a great time. I am following her trip to the convention on Facebook. I hope to make another convention sometime.

I'm waiting for my son to come get me to go to Lafayette. He has my car and I really don't want to go to Lafayette in the truck.

Good afternoon. Kind of a broken up day, had to go to a "wellness appointment". No big deal. Nurse just interviews you then updates any new information and meds. Takes some vitals and off you go. Wonder how much they charge for that????
Needed an update on my car and you had to have it off for 15 minutes so I took this opportunity to hit install now, turn off car and go on my merry way to my visit. Came out and it was all done. Wonder what it screwed up because those updates usually screw something up. At least they do on my phone and my computer.
Steve was over bright and early to finish painting so we are all done now. He and his wife are going to the coast for the week so think he wanted to get it done. I wanted him to get it done too LOL I was going to stop at the store on my way home but I was dressed like Nanook of the North because it was cold this morning but warmed up rapidly so just came home. Nothing real important that I need. Might see what Safeway and Fred Meyers (aka Kroger) has on sale and if I buy enough for free pick up.
Judy I am sorry you are having issues. I lost my alternator before I even got out of town once. So you might be right on the alternator theory. Barbie I am sure there is alot of dust being created. Martha that is what Laura and Alice are doing and then they have quite an itinerary for their month long adventure. They are all mapped out and have reservations so they are good to go. I am also following their adventure. They love to bike so they have lots of plans for their electric bikes along the way.

Well off to pay a couple of bills and just hang out the rest of the day. I had a big lunch so dinner will be not much.

Still waiting for them to find someone to send here. My motorhome has an emergency start function that uses the generator and house batteries but that did not work either. It works like a jump start. At least it is cool and windy today so have not used my generator or AC. Just want to get on road!!!

Judy, I hope they can get you on the road before dark!

Ugh!! What a mess! I think these guys made way more of a mess than they needed to. One guy came by with a gigantic blower on wheels and blew all the crap towards my house, of course all up on my deck! Looked like a tornado with the swirling dust! Then he blew out the crap on my neighbors driveway toward her deck but also over on my driveway that he just cleaned off. :o Then he left! Now another guy just came by with a handheld blower and blew the crap away from our houses towards the street. Why didn't they just do that to begin with??

Just saw a video on FB from my friend Cathy in Florida who's house got flooded from the hurricane, showing the pile of furniture, etc, in their yard was was being dumped into a truck to haul away. They are still looking for a contractor to do the repairs. There is a huge waiting list. Plus they need to make sure they don't get some scammers taking advantage of them. Sounds like she and her husband are considering moving after the house gets fixed. I know they love being on the canal with their boats and kayaks, but I know they don't want to go thru this again. I know there are a lot of inland lakes they could move to and still keep their boats to use.

Just had mac and cheese for lunch. Will probably just read this afternoon once it quiets down outside. Can't concentrate with all that racket!

Not the best of days for some of you! Hope Judy got on the road. Barbie, interesting how some workers do their jobs. BJ, I have one of the purse holders Evie mentioned - from Amazon. Karen, I probably need to check for an update on my car. Got an e-mail from Internet provider to update my router - that's a first in over 2 years. Martha, with all of the football games on Saturday, not one of the 3 I follow was shown here free! Kansas State I understand but both Washington teams were on subscription apps!

I seem to remember one or two of you getting new iPhones several months ago. BJ maybe? I'm looking at an iPhone 14 if anyone has any experience with that one.

We had a cool, smoke free day with wind. Got to open the sliding glass door! :) I was up at 7 and heard noises upstairs, they left and I went back to sleep. Got up later and was in the bathroom when something crashed above me and sounded like there was liquid involved. Was watching the ceiling in case water came down! I think I heard other faint sounds later so maybe a quiet guest or a pet? Sure startled me.

Sheila, sure hope you found a river road!

Guy finally came around 6 pm and determined it was not the battery, so he pounded on the starter motor while I was able to start vehicle. But he said if I turned it off, I would not be able to start it again. Long story short--tried to get back into West Branch but the system said I had already stayed 14 days, tried to contact office or camp host with no luck, finally started driving that way, but then decided to try Punderson, so drove an extra 30 miles to get there. No problem there getting a site and by then was veyr dark, but I somehow managed to back into site and plug in.

They are calling me tomorrow at 9 am to arrange a tow. I will try to start engine, and if it starts, I will drive to wherever they find to replace starter motor. That's easier than a tow. Hope I can get away fairly early so I can get to Detroit campground before dark tomorrow.

Whew!!

Anita, I got an iPhone 14 last February. I’m very happy with it. I’m not very technical so not sure I could answer complicated technical questions, but I’ve had no problems and that’s what’s most important to me. I’m sending this response on my phone. I’d say go for it.

I did Anita :D so pretty it doesn't always stay by the river but occasionally ... it took a bit to find though I couldn't figure out how to get to highway 35 which looked like the one I wanted finally drove up by a guy that just parked and asked him all I had to do was go to the stop light turn right and follow the street about a block away was a sign saying highway 35...am in Galena Illinois now not sure what I will be on.... will have to look in the morning was on a detour so who knows... had hoped that I would be at sister in laws place tonight but just was tired... the knees where yelling at me so stopped paid a bit more but I am ok with it not the highest I've stayed at... walked yes you read that right over to Happy Joes haven't been to one of them in forever... didn't want pizza said they had salads as well as pasta should have gotten the pasta... got taco salad shouldn't have.... never had one put together like that one and really didn't enjoy it to much like it was a 2 maybe they opened another bag of lettuce and it was so wet they mixed the meat into the lettuce making the meat cold it just wasn't good... not sure if they didn't know how to fix it or if that is the way HJ does it...

Sheila, you are right at the river. I like Galena. I'll be up past that way to go visit my sister in Wisconsin early October. I'll drive the river road north to visit the motel I owned in Ferryville, WI oh so many years ago. I love driving along there and seeing the changes. A little later and I'd probably get color, but that's the time frame I have to do it. I'll be there week right after the apple festival in Gay's Mills, WI. I'll go there and see about getting some apples and maybe a few treats.

I want to remember all the posts and comment but my brain has shut down and wants sleep. Oh, Judy, I hope they can get you taken care of without being towed and quickly. Barbie, I remember you talking about the mess when they did this last year, too. It amazes me that they are allowed to make the mess they make. Karen, I'm missing Safeway and HEB while here. I never have both anywhere, but they are my favorite grocery stores. I hope the merger doesn't ruin how I feel about Safeway.

Now really to bed! Sweet dreams all.

Very windy here tonight! Good for blowing around all the dust, grass, etc!

Sheila, I have been to Galena before. I took my mom there for a Mothers Day trip once. We stayed at a B&B in town. Unfortunately, we were there on a Sunday and Monday when most of the shops in town are closed. We did see Ulysses S Grant's home there tho. My mom was really into all the past presidents and wanted to see his home. Wasn't my thing but I wanted her to see it and since there was nothing else open, I obliged. Was a pretty town tho.

Back to work in the morning...

I'm sorry you have upstairs commotions going on again. I had an apartment one time and the lady above me sounded like an elephant stomping across the floor. Hard to believe as she didn't weigh much!

I recently bought a new Mac computer, my phone is the iPhone 12 Pro. I think every time there is a new model something doesn't work as well as on the older model. I do like the size of the Pro as I read books on my phone.
