Cool Tuesday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cool Tuesday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Tue Jul 18, 2023 7:02 am

Good Morning from the 45th. Cool 51°degrees here this morning. Had a heavy dew last night. Supposed to be low 70’s again today. Sure can’t complain about the weather lately. Wish I could send those of you in the heat, some of it. Was a perfect day to finish painting the deck yesterday. Now to let it sit and cure for 3 days. I am letting the dogs on it today as it seems to be easier for Molly to come and go. They aren’t on it other than to just go in and out, so can’t hurt it. If

Judy, the reason you haven’t seen me talking about smoke is because until the past Sunday, we haven’t had any for almost a month. And Sunday was mostly in the early morning and was moving out with the cold front by afternoon, heading down your way. That smoke was from the Western Canadian fires, not Ontario or Quebec. From what I understand, they have been having some rains up there that has helped firefights gain control of some of the fires, thus shutting off the smoke we had been getting in May and June.

Heading to town today. Need mower gas and few things from the store. Then will do the minor house/garage trim painting where needed. Started in my statue yesterday, don’t know if I will do that today or not. Need to mow and want to do a bit of raking too. Supposed to go into low 8’s for a couple days and some rain showers on Thursday.

Morning Sue and all who follow. Sue, I'm glad the smoke has been better there. A friend near where I'm heading in Iowa said it was bothering her there this week. I guess I need to be prepared.

Right now I'm more concerned with the heat next week while I'm driving north. Whatever it does, I'll make it. Today I need to put together a cabinet I ordered. I'd wait and do it when I return but am afraid I'd be missing parts or something. Maybe I'll just open the box and make sure everything is there and save the project for next spring. I don't want to be moving things around too much this week. Then I'll probably miss putting things back in the RV that I'll need.

I woke up with an upset tummy. I love cottage cheese with fruit, especially pineapples. So had a big bowl last night. Cottage cheese is one of the culprits when my tummy does this. I've been lucky the last couple times, but I know I'm pushing my luck. So it's off my grocery list again, maybe forever if I'm smart.

Good morning, just finished watering and will fertilize the front flowers, there are not too many out there. I have a couple more tomatoes turning yippee. Plants have lots coming on all of them. Going to be 93 today so will need to finish up here shortly. Also putting my last camera up, finally got the mount for it.
Had breakfast, coffee, and outside done except for the camera. I need to take a shower I have to take Emma to the groomer today. So if it isnt too hot later I will put the camera up, have it all programmed just have to get my drill out and screw the mount in, dont think I will get too sweaty doing that LOL

Beth I can eat almost any kind of food but cottage cheese would not make it past my mouth. I just cant do it. Always looks so good with the fruit on it but those curdles flip flop my stomach before it even gets to it. I do believe it is the only food that could make me throw up. I dont even put it in my lasagna. Curdled milk is what it reminds me of. I like sour cream and Ricotta. I dont like Yogurt either but I can eat it. Right now my snack is watermelon that I got fairly reasonable the other day. Better than cookies LOL

Karen, dairy milk curdles in my mouth. I won't say more about it. I stay away from most dairy, but like lots of it. Except milk! If I eat cheese too much, also tummy problems. And I love most cheeses.

Good afternoon gals!

It is about 117* here! Very hot! I ran some errands and am now hanging out in my bedroom to stay cool. The living room only gets down to about 90*+ even with the AC running which I keep set at 85*. Just can't keep up with the heat outside, until the sun sets and then it catches up. But the living room unit has that room and the kitchen and bathroom to cool off. The bedroom is small and easy to keep cool with the door mostly shut (gotta keep it open just enough for the cats to come and go). So that is where I am now. I also have a fan next to my bed that I can run if needed to cool me down faster. I have the AC set at 83* and the fan has it down to 81* in here. Feels fine right now.

I did my weekly errand run. Dropped books off at the library, stopped at Home Depot to get a paint sample for my kitchen and to paint over where I patched nail holes in the living room. Then drove to Palm Desert to pick up my official cannabis ID card (from the live scan) from the temp service. They told me they have a 3 day job in August for me but also said there is a cannabis job fair in Desert Hot Springs (where most of the cannabis jobs are) this coming Saturday afternoon so I will check that out and see what is there. He said there is a new company that is opening and looking for workers.
From there, I went to Lowes to pick up my new microwave. I plan to keep using the counter top one so I don't accidentally break this new one before I sell the house! They aren't cheap!
My final stop was WM to pick up a few things there. And then home. I actually remembered the freezer bag! :D

We have had a few hazy days here due to the 4 wildfires about halfway between here and Los Angeles. But very slightly noticeable here.

My mom's side of the family had a reunion one year about 22 years ago. It was a great success with lots of family there. No one wanted to do another one tho and now the younger ones that are left aren't really in touch with anyone else anymore. I try to keep in touch with some of them on FB.

I love cottage cheese with fruit! And yogurt, cheese, and milk, etc. I don't drink as much milk as I used to but still buy it to have with meals, cocoa, and cookies! :D When I was pregnant, I drank a half gallon of milk every day! I couldn't get enough of it!

I should probably work on the rest of the bedroom stuff since I am in here anyways. :?

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Barbie, I'm glad I don't have to battle the heat you have. The high today was 98 and heat index about 105. I went to town and the heat wears me out. I'm on my third over the stove microwave in 18 years. The first one was ruined by a roof leak when we first got this house. I don't know what happened to the second one. If it had been my choice I wouldn't have one over the stove but I don't have much counter space in the kitchen. I have to use a stool to be able to clean it.

The dermatologist called in a prescription for a tube of cream to Walmart. The cream using my insurance was $190.00. I'm glad they put the cost in the texts they send. I printed a GoodRx coupon to see if I could use it on the cream. They took the coupon and changed the price to $33. There is something wrong with our health system. I use a GoodRx coupon for Sugars medicine too. They didn't lose any money, I probably spent over $100 on dog and cat food.

I like cottage cheese but seldom buy any. I would rather use my calories on cookies. I probably don't drink as much milk as I should. I usually buy the smallest container of milk just to have some on hand.

Sugar would like to go out but it's still 93. Hopefully it will cool off some before dark.

I got a call from my sister-in-law in Tucson a few hours ago. We had a nice long conversation. She and my brother, David, flew up to MN last month for a family reunion (funny coincidence with our current conversation here!) with her relatives. 5 days after coming back, they both had Covid! Luckily, neither have had severe symptoms other than fatigue. With my brother being health compromised, that is a good thing for sure!

I told her about the RV park south of Tucson that I want to look into buying a park model. She said her son's fiance's parents bought one there a year ago and love it there. My SIL and brother went down there once to visit them and they were impressed too.

The reason she called was her son and fiance are getting married next March and wanted my address for the invitation. I guess I better show up to this one or I will be banished from the family for sure! :o

I also told her about my upcoming ADHD appointment. She said she is not surprised at all with me having ADHD. Linda (Bikerchic) told me the same thing. It would be interesting to find out what my brother in MN would say. He knows me best as far as spending the most amount of time with me from childhood but since we are not really on speaking terms, I don't know if he would be willing to talk about it tho. My older brother in Tucson is 14 years older than me so he was pretty much out of the house when I was 2 or 3 years old so I didn't really spend much time with him until I was in my 30's.

Finally cooling off in the living room now that the sun has set so the AC is keeping up now.

The guy from the temp service sent me the info on the job fair for Saturday. I read the info and it says it costs $20 to attend and $20 for parking!!! Hell no! I am gonna call him tomorrow and find out what the deal is with that. :? Who is gonna pay $40 to go to a job fair??

Sounds like it is very windy outside tonight.

wow that is a lot Barbie that is too bad that they are limiting the people that will be able to attend
did nothing today and really don't feel bad about it either... was going to go to the store but not out of milk ....yet  so it wasn't hard to talk myself out of not going should have there is a pkg at the post office I need to pick up...
it's hot here although the temps on the computer says 63 which should be comfortable don't know what it is inside though when I go to my room it usually says 75 will drop down a little bit but not a lot
good to see you posting Shirl
I got a phone call from the drs. office they had a letter ready to send but not fax number they had called the number I gave them but had to leave a voicemail so I also called left a voicemail and she called back said that they were faxing the letter to her I don't know if she will call me and tell me what she decides or wait for a letter... I have to pay 5 dollars for extra mailing I do but guess in this case it's important...
finished my grandson's afghan other than the trimming the fringe and probably check and see if they are all knotted as well
the lady that I finished her son's baby afghan came over to get it she brought a bouquet of roses yellow and right now can't remember the other color was sure nice of her...
Barbie you might be getting deeper in trouble by going to the wedding of this nephew but not the other... but sometimes the circumstances totally dictate what we do
you all have a great day
