Barbie Sam's Club is owned by Walmart. I would suggest you look for a map of locations of Sam's and Costco. We don't have a Sams club here and I dont know if I have ever seen one in Oregon or Washington. I belong to Costco but I also shop there. I usually buy my gas there but they just put a gas station in at the end of my road USA it is called and they charge the same as Costco. Right now it is $5.49 a gallon.

Gas here where I am is running anywhere from $3.77 to $3.89. It was about the same price I was paying downstate when I went down for my cousins funeral. Most of them were around $3.99 at that time. Because I have a Mieijer charge card I get gas there for $.10 a gallon less than the posted price. Gas prices in northern Michigan outside of This area can tend to be higher.

Prices here in Jackson WY are going up again... regular is 4. something at least 39 but feel it's higher my mom's car insists that it gets premium I think it was 5.15 when I filled up the other day and diesel was 5.69 I think it had gotten down to 5.13
there is Costco in WA Karen dd shops there and gets gas there
one thing maybe Barbie is get the store cards... ones that have gas and shop there whether you would buy enough to get lots of points I don't know but that is what I do it helps...at least it helps me
it was a good thought to check and see where the stores are I know that Idaho has both in a couple of the towns I go through but then you have to get off and find them...
when towing I don't like to do that however I know my route and I know that normally Maverick is cheaper than Flying J/or Love's so I stop there.... if you are in something smaller that dropping of the freeway a bit wouldn't be as nerve racking as it is when towing a 5th wheel at least I find it nerve racking

Both Costco and SAMs, and probably all other stores where gas is sold, such as Walmart, have websites that are easy to find and have a locations button where you can look at map of state and see what stores they have in that area . When we traveled in 08, I would look at location maps and if we needed certain items, I would see what cities had a Costco, and we would plan stops.

I think the Costco membership is $65/year now. Would the pennies you save be enough to off set that? So many things to think of. Lyn

Up here Costco membership is $60 worth it to me ($5.00 per month works out to) but I do buy things there a couple times a month. Rotisserie chicken, paper towels, kleenex, toilet paper, meat, etc

When I joined Costco in Vista, it was because they were just down the street from me so it was very convenient. I did buy a few things there, but most stuff is in bulk which I have no room for and certainly won't in a small RV. I think when I joined, they had a deal where you got the $65 back in a gift card for the store, so it really didn't cost anything to join.

I started this because I did not trust the Gasbuddy after seeing some errors. And several of you are right that prices do not make sense. It used to be small towns way out in the middle of nowhere were the most expensive, but in my driving across Nevada, I have found a couple of tiny towns charging $4.55 and a bigger town with a lot more gas stations charging $5.29-$5.95. And one place only 5 miles down the road was a full dollar less!

And I was driving through small towns, so I can see why they might not be up to date. I will keep trying.

Another consideration besides the price of gas is bad gas. I always try to get gas at a station that sells a lot of gas. Years ago I got some bad gas in a small station in the middle of nowhere Texas. It took many filter changes to get over that.

This post not helpful for Judy. I don’t check gas prices just watch the gas gauge. Do not travel much anymore so just deal with the fair priced local service station. I feel for those members who have large gas tanks and skyrocket gas prices.

I found the map on the GasBuddy app, and it does help to find areas when i am driving where gas is cheaper, but it still really does not make sense. I think the media is right that the gas companies are making horrible profits. Don't know about profits for individual gas stations or chains.

Today, I used the GasBuddy ap and discovered that I could drive 120 miles from Amargosa to Boulder Beach Campground or I could go through Pahrump which was a drive of 129 miles. (The only station in Amargosa charged $5.95.) I have a 55 gallon tank which was almost empty. A few stations in Las Vegas were about $4.99, but the vast majority were $5.29 - $5.85. Gas in Pahrump was around $4.06 - $4.75, with several around the lower number. I drove the extra 9 miles and went to Maverick's south of Pahrump and paid the cash price of $4.06 by using my debit card. I bought 48 gallons of gas, which saved me at least $48 in gas!! And I did not feel guilty filling it up!!

The good news is that GasBuddy was accurate for the Pahrump stations I noticed. Pahrump, by the way, has about 10 or so gas stations, so it is not a tiny town. I really found this map helpful in seeing the overall picture: https://www.gasbuddy.com/gaspricemap?lat=35.157745246702135&lng=-96.06424425&z=5

So, why should gas in a big city cost that much more than gas in a much smaller town????

I paid $3.72 in Bullhead City today and saw it 5 cents less at the other end of town! My RV and I thank this price!
