Tornado in Gaylord - hope you are ok, Sue!

I just read online that a tornado touched down in Gaylord - I think this is near, or where, Sue lives.

Hope you are ok, Sue, and are getting some of that needed rain!

Anne, I read there is a big loss of power in Gaylord. We cam only hope Sue and all are safe but she can’t post because of power outages.

Sue posted on Facebook, lots of damage but her part is okay. No power as it took out the transformers. I am sure she will add more as she find it out.

I too have been thinking about Sue. I saw this picture of damage to trailers, 5th wheels etc. that was shown on CNN. So glad Sue is OK.

Sue still doesnt have power and might be a while. She is saving her battery on her phone as she can only charge it on her portable charger. She will post more when she gets some power

said this morning that I would post some pictures in this thread that I want to share with you. I’ve been driving around looking at the de e station except for the residential area where Thry we’re working.

This picture is not mine, but it is of some of the Mobile home park that was 95% destroyed. 2 people died here. A neighbors cousin is hospitalized with fractured ribs, a punctured Lung and a couple of other wounds. after a refrigerator and wall fell on him. A couple other family friends were also injured. One has a crushed vertebrae and doctors have given him a 1 in 50 chance of ever walking again. The other was in a truck with his son when a large tree came down and crushed the truck. His injuries were so severe he was in surgery for 7 hours and is in an induced coma in critical condition. The son had minor injuries.

This next group was taken in the back of our Hobby Lobby store. The back wall is blown out and a few trailers from a storage area were destroyed as well. The bottom picture is the front view of Hobby Lobby and adjoining stores.







This was an oil change place, across highway M-32, from the mall where Hobby Lobby is. . The staff took shelter below the floor and the building collapsed on top of them, requiring rescue


Damaged buildings across M-32 from from Hobby Lobby. Tbe tornado went across the highway heading northeast. If you look closely at the building to the right of Goodwill, youvwill see a piece of the roof from Goodwill embedded in the upper wall above the red stripe.




The tornado continued on past the boarded up buildings into the area of a lot of small shops and companies, turning it into a war zone wherevit. Passed through, uprooting huge trees and upending storage trailers, demolishing a few small shops before hitting the RV dealer that Beth mentioned.







From this point, it crossed I-75 and into residential neighborhoods, tbe which I have yet to get pictures.

Sue, that is so devastating. It's hard to even look at the pictures.

It is very devastating. But we all feel that it could’ve been much worse. Our entire downtown business district is fine and Gaylord can function and hold the festivals and everything else that we have planned for this year. The tornado did some quirky things too. Where are the Goodwill building is there are two other buildings next to it on the other side. Both of them are damaged, one being that oil change place. But after that, the other buildings are totally intact intact and the flag is still on the flagpole in front of one of them. Also back in that area where I said those small shops and stuff were demolished, there is a Star Truck rental. Their name sign was found 16 miles away outside a small town where the tornado finally lifted.

it is so amazing the force of wind so sorry your town had this happen to it... and so glad that your house and neighborhood was spared...
in my husbands home town a silo was lifted up and deposited upright totally functional I want to say 25 feet away not sure about that and of course I can't ask Larry
