Can't update my FB password

Postby BarbaraRose » Thu May 19, 2022 7:02 pm

I am trying to transfer my data from my old Android to my new one. I have tried 5 different data transfer apps and none of them are working for me. Some charge a fee which I won't do. Others won't communicate from one phone to another. One wants to transfer info from my NEW phone to my OLD phone and doesn't give me an option to go the other way. I am getting SO frustrated!! I have watched 4 You Tube videos and I still can't get these two phones or the apps to cooperate!
Help!!

See below...I gave up on this issue and now have another one...

It was over 3 years ago but I just used Google drive. Transferred all my contacts and photos. Most wont transfer any apps but you can download those easily enough.

I don't know what kind of service you have, but when I got my newest phone, I took it to a Verizon store and they transferred the data for me.

Both my newest phones took me step by step and transferred everything including apps seamlessly. Wish i could help.

I finally gave up and just put in all my contacts in myself. :(

Now I am once again trying to reset my password on FB because I can't remember it so I can sign into FB on my phone. But when I click on "Forgot password", it asks for my phone number so I put that in. The screen then goes back to my home page. Meanwhile I do get a code in my email but have no where to put it since it kicked me out of the "change password" screen. I have done that about 6 times and it does the same thing every time. Grrr!

This is why I hate technology!

No idea sfor transferring your phone but I saw where AT&T is offering a free iPhone 13 if you sign up for their service. Or will the place where you bought it transfer for you?

If you have a laptop could you try to change your FB password on it? Mobile apps usually behave differently than the desktop/website version.

What are the makes of the phones? Like are you going from a Google phone to a samsung?

Putting your data on a google-drive is a good idea - or even just copying your data to a flash drive IF your phones can handle a flash drive.
OR IF you have a laptop or computer, you should be able to connect your old phone to it, copy all the data (usually photos) to your laptop hard-drive & then attach your new phone & copy it onto that phone - or just leave it on your laptop/computer.

I'm like you though sometimes low-tech - merely keying in the contacts is a great way to solve a piece of the problem.

While I miss my old samsung phone I have to admit transferring the data to an iPhone was super-simple. Hope it's just as simple when I go back to a Samsung in a few years.

As a last resort, see if there are any 10 year olds in the neighborhood who can help.
