Mothers Day, Best gift you gave or received

I drove in the driveway, put the car in park, started to get out to open the garage door. The garage door went up by its self. Two little granddaughter’s in the back seat were rolling around laughing. Daughter had a door opener installed and the girls had the remote. We were all so proud they kept the secret. Good times.

What a great story, Shirl! And what a nice gift!

The most memorable for me was a hot air balloon ride many years ago. Older daughter and I went up, up and away, but everyone with us had a tethered ride. We flew over one mobile home park and people came out in their robes to wave. Great experience!

I used to take my mom on little trips for Mother's Day.

One time I took her to Stillwater, MN to ride on the train along the river there. It was just an afternoon ride and provided lunch on board for everyone. The conductor would get off the train in front (train was moving really slow!) and we would see him sitting near the tracks with a funny sign having to do with Mothers. Then he would hop on the back, walk thru the cars back to the front and then we would see him again holding another sign. It was really fun! Food was great and so was the scenery along the St Croix river.

Another time I took her to Wabasha, MN along the Mississippi River. We stayed at an old historic hotel that rented out cats for the night! We got a big, old, orange tabby cat named Morris. We gave him a few too many treats and he got sick all night! Oops! But it was fun! Had a nice brunch there in the morning before heading home.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Sometimes it isn’t a gift that’s memorable. Received a text from youngest granddaughter who has been a Mother for five days, is tired and sleepless. Her text read “Happy Mothers Day to the Mom who made the rest of us possible”.
