Monday, October 18

Morning All, chilly 56°and sunny this morning. Sweat shirt and jeans weather and I am loving it. Quite a list of things to do this morning so will be on the road. Was reading the wonders of quinoa so made a batch. I added a cup to my dinner salad. Don’t know if it was my imagination but I was still full at bedtime. Will add to soups and use in the place of rice. Well that is the plan for today. Lol Hoping healthy eating will also result in losing a few pounds. Judy, I neglected to to say great news about the your lab work. Steve, atta boy. :) I finally realized that time isn’t whizzing by, I’m moving slower. Need to get a wiggle on. Be safe

Morning Shirl, I too have a list of chores and errands as I kind of just veggied out yesterday and enjoyed it immensely. Was also my cheat day so think that might have had something to do with it. My steak and mashed potatoes turned out great in my Dutch oven. I have lots left so I will need to freeze it for sure because my cheat day is OVER. I didnt do anything really bad but had 2 helpings of my delicious dinner. So back to healthy eating again this week.

Had some rain late yesterday and thru the night but now no more rain until the end of the week. Since I didn't get to it and do it yesterday I have kind of a longer chore list for today. Nothing major but just need to do it.

Good morning! from beautiful Kansas City!

It's been a whirlwind since I arrived Wed evening, but finally have a calm day - just in time to pack up & head back to CA.

I really, really love KC with its trees, spacious lawns & fantastic food (it's been a cheat week for me!). CA is nice in the winter, but you can't beat KC in the spring or fall.

This has been a good trip to set some limits on how much I want the kids to plan for in France when I first arrive. Ended up walking 6+ miles the first day here, in the sun with lots of waiting around for others. They had invited staff back into the office where I used to work for a commemorative walk after going remote about 18 months ago. Only about 1/3 came in person, others joined in virtually, but it was so good to see everyone & join in the fun.

Attended the wedding I came for last night in the Rose garden of one of our parks here & it was beautiful! Not a large group so I felt very safe at the reception catching up with friends.

Tonight 6 of us siblings are getting together & then I fly back out tomorrow.

Quinoa is excellent for you & has so many health benefits. Thanks for posting the recipe, Shirl. I tend to overcook it, so I'll try to follow your instructions next time.

I think I'll grab BBQ for lunch for my son & daughter-in-law today & that should be the last of my food adventures until Paris.

Looking forward to catching up with what's going on here once i'm back home.
Take care,
Catherine

Good afternoon to all. I'm writing this from Gila Bend, AZ - middle of no where, but very nice RV park. We spent two night in Quartzsite before moving on a little further south. Only 130 miles today, but they were ugly miles. Very, very strong winds and lots of dust. Glad we are stopped for night. Tomorrow we'll go further south to Amado, AZ, just south of Tucson, for a few days. While there we will go into Mexico to get all our paper work done, make final shopping trip and Bill wants something done to the RV that maybe our friend there can do. Hope the wind lets up tomorrow.
By next week we will be in Mexico and I'll write about our travels on the blog when ever I have wifi. Except for a few days should have it all the time. the blog is at http://travelinginrvandlivinginlasvegas.blogspot.com/ I try to keep up with what ever we are doing.
We are hoping that a lot of our Canadian friends will be back this year as the border will be open Nov 8 for them.
Need to get a few things done in RV - safe travels and good weather for every one.

Catherine, it sounds like it's been a wonderful trip. Carol and Bill, I always wish I was coming along with you .. always follow the blog. I'm glad you're not rushing. We have the wind here in Utah, also. With three colder temps it's miserable. I hope the weather people are right as they aren't showing any wind tomorrow. And maybe it'll hold true for you also.

If all goes well, I'm hoping to finish up with closing the motel next Wednesday and maybe get on the road Thursday. We know I'm a wimp with winds so that could make the difference of what day I actually leave (that and if we get finished We'd!).

I'm still dreaming of the Villa in Italy.

I am very tired this afternoon! I didn't sleep well again worrying about waking up on time! I made it tho. Just after noon I was starting to yawn. Pretty soon I was yawning more and more. I told my co-worker friend, Mendy, that they were down to 5 minutes apart and getting stronger! I said it won't be long before I give birth to a nap!

I did pretty good for working 8 hours and my shoulder isn't too sore. Three of my coworkers are sisters and brother, and their dad works there part-time in the mornings. He always left just before I came in every day. We spent all morning chatting with each other. He is an artist so we talked a lot about our chosen mediums. Made the time go by a bit faster.

Hoping now I can relax some and get to sleep better tonight. Another problem last night was I had my windows open for the nice "breeze" outside. Well, that "breeze" turned into hurricane force winds in the upper 50's. I was too cold to get up and close the windows! :o  Between the cold and the noise, that didn't help me get to sleep either. I closed all the windows this morning so the dust wouldn't be blowing into the house. I actually wore pants (versus shorts  ) to work today!

It is still really windy out but supposed to calm down overnight, so hopefully Beth and Carol, you will have calmer winds tomorrow too.

I want to work on my gourd tonight but I am so sleepy I might just take a little nap first.

A group from Washington State is in town now. They were watching the Seahawks game last night down the street and hootin' and hollerin' until past 9pm! Must have been an exciting game!

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

back to the normal day of getting up doing stuff here then going to the hospital hang out for a few hours come home and either veg out or try and do something Levis in dryer now fixed supper had thawed a chop for dinner yesterday but didn't get home in time plus having taco's at 4 didn't make me want to have supper at supper time... the hospital has this week a some sort of an Indian powder dish salad... it sounds yummy might need to try it some time this week... seems like it has Quinoa in it but wouldn't swear to it I don't usually eat while there but perhaps I will have supper with mom sometime this week... I think I am almost more concerned about her lack of eating than anything else.... got her a stir fry veggies over rice with shrimp she dug out the shrimp then was full a couple bites of fresh fruit... it is really hard to come up with something to eat that she hasn't already had that dish she hadn't had...I don't think she had pt today I think most of them were gone today... but she did walk around the bed to get to the chair... it's funny to watch how different CNA's do things mom needed to go to the bathroom (she was sitting in the chair) so CNA comes in and brings over the potty chair gets her to it looks for the wipes which are across the room in the window sill so she collects them replaces the garbage cans one into the bathroom and the other under the sink ... afterwards they get her into bed... then she calls again another one comes in gets her out of bed on the other side wonders where the wipes are as they aren't where she put them garbage can over where it had been before the one CNA put it under the sink which makes since don't you think? I'd like to see them walk her to the restroom instead of using the potty chair... but maybe she isn't up to that much activity...
tried setting up the digital frame but can't figure out where to hook it up to the WIFI the pictures that my grandson put on it shows up though... and she did smile at them...
well you all have a great day
