Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Better to forget to cook something than to leave it cooking for a few hours after it is done or let a pot boil down to nothing. I have done both in past few months!

Baking bread tonight because I am out of it, so need to go check it to make sure I have not burned it!! Can't be trusted these days. OK, just got it out of the oven in time!

it was totally and I do mean totally a wasted day did get my shower in and went and had a ice cream sundae and quick stop at the grocery store not sure what I needed but sure didn't get it as I came out with not a lot ...
I counted the candies that my son put in the box 32 of them they must get a bag of them from either Sam's or Costco my son told me it was the girls that choose the card... I'd swear it was him as he called me Mommy till way old like when he got married if not after that... but still a cute card ...
I did call Direct TV and quite frankly I don't know who to believe... for the past year plus was given the impression that all receivers dishes ect would be obsolete at the end of the year (2020) I took that literally ... the person I talked to today told me that it's the card that has to be updated and will be done over the phone although if the box which is a standard quits working then would have to get a new receiver as they are no longer in stock... I asked several times if the it will work with the dish I currently have was told that it would... unless even if I upgraded to a new receiver but didn't know what the new dish would cost if it had to be replaced... I really don't know at this time what or whom to believe... when I wanted to sign up for the Hallmark mysteries was told I couldn't because I didn't have the right equipment receiver and dish... so I sit here shaking my head... part of me wants to close it and get dish because it would be cheaper put I am familiar with Direct... my son in law told me that if I wanted to he would be happy to sit in on a talk with them so he could make sure I understood all that they were saying... he works for Netflex.... and youngest DD (his wife) keeps mentioning what Anita suggested but I am on the MIFI limited on whatever on the phone not so but if you go over whatever amount you slow way down!!! so try not to stream I know from past experience if I listen to lots of Pandora on computer that it uses up a lot of .... whatever they are called if music will do that what would watching a tv show do? so right now I don't know what to do might just call put it on Vacation forget it till I get back north and then do something more... but interesting Martha that your dome didn't work with it... again Dish is looking a lot better... but there are things on Direct that I like like the East Coast West Coast which hopefully I still have... I like being able to watch tv shows later like if I am at dd's go back home at 8 haven't missed anything or out here can watch on East Coast time and see it all before have to turn off generator... so I am still not sure what to do...
Irmi that sounds like a dish I used to make think it was called Angel Chicken... so yummy
it was a cold day a very windy day I truly wanted to crawl back into bed... probably would have but Shadow was up and moving so decided that I needed to take him outside didn't even feed the birds or fill the generator as it was too windy it did calm down and I did it later just before dark...
lights are still there but not on till after one I am thinking was when I looked and they were visible but two thirty and they were... just find it weird....
I had to laugh at the food mishaps that we can have my dd as thrown more out just cause it didn't look like the picture and remember Mitch's make something didn't like out it went ... me hate throwing food away...
you all have a great day

Sheila, satellites are a lot cheaper than they used to be. I had to replace mine in summer 2019, and the Dish Playmaker satellite cost me only $250 and the receiver, a Wally model, cost me only $99. The best part of the Dish system is that you don't have to sign a contract, but also that you can mount the dish on top of your RV, or you can keep it portable. In other words, you can just put it on a table or a tripod and move it around. You can also take the dish and put it on a house somewhere and bring the receiver with you, so you could use it in a home or apartment and on your RV.

There are installation costs and a $50 charge for a mounting plate if you want to permanently attach it to the top of your RV, but I suspect your son could install it since you probably have all the wiring already.

Also, DISH includes local channels at no cost. You do have to use an app or call them each time you move your rig to another city but it is very easy. I like having local channels wherever I am--no having to choose east or west coast. So, now I am getting Las Vegas local channels but will get Phoenix locals when i get there in a week or so. And I get most channels in HD.

Judi do you know how far you are from Los Vagas? where I am at in Idaho the nearest "local" is about 60 or so miles away far enough that cable doesn't work although sat's do ... dumb question now that I think of it... I will have to do some more thinking about it and ask some more questions of the gal at the store see what she says... do you happen to get Hallmark Mysteries? I know it's in HD

Sheila, do you have one of the dishes that is on a tripod? If you do they can change the part at the end of the arm to match the receiver you have or a new receiver. They shouldn't charge you to do that but probably will try. Whatever upgrade they did a few months ago made 2 of my receivers not work.

Martha it's no longer on a tripod we lost so many the 1st year we had it that my husband took the dish off the tripod and mounted it on a flat board no more blown over tripod  I know what part you are talking about though I think ....
My problem is when I move I have to have someone either from the company or my son in law (my eldest daughter's husband) has always been able to get it to come in until recently and as well as distance ... when in Idaho I've had the company come out and they say they can't hook me up because the cable is on the ground and someone might trip over it... they have done it but give me enough grief that I hate hate calling and having someone come out... so have been thinking of getting the one that finds the satellite on it's own but with the changes that have been made or will be made I worry about it not working with the receivers... so am still not sure what I will do but dish is still looking good... cheaper and know that the dome thingy will work with the stuff... it's silly to not have it and be paying for it in the last year I've had the tv for about 1 month if that... could have and should have put it on vacation but didn't as I had hopes of getting it set up... that is a lot of money spent and not enjoyed... still debating with myself as what to do

I haven't had satellite for over 2 years. This rig has HDMI hookups so I needed a different receiver. I had a Winegard Dome and they told me which receiver to get. Directv insisted on sending someone out instead of just sending a receiver. 'Technician' came and told me it wouldn't work - Winegard says he was wrong.

I cancelled Direct and got the Hulu app. Sheila, once you install any app, you don't need to be connected to Wi-Fi so it doesn't use up your data. If you get something like Pluto on your phone, you can hook your phone to your laptop to watch or possibly your tv.

Since I have a tablet, I usually watch on it although I can hook phone to tv.

I have Hulu Live without ads, prime video, Netflix (on kids' plan), Hallmark. Hulu has a cheaper plan, but mine is $77 a month. I don't miss satellite at all.

Anita my youngest keeps telling me I ought to stream I couldn't see how to do it and not use up all my bites  I still don't know how....I am so not tetchy  so the other thought is to put Direct on vacation and put off till I return north to decide but would like to watch tv... it's too bad the kids think I am so far away... :o gives me something to ponder about now if you had come south for this winter.... but then with COVID who knows what we could have done anyway
thanks though for the food for thought now to quit using up my data and get something to eat see you all this evening

Sheila, I know what a pain it is to try to find the satellite. I had one on a tripod at the lake and sometimes I could find it right away and other times I wanted to throw it in the lake. I have had the satellite dome on my motorhome worked on twice and it's not working again. I'm tired of messing with it. Like you, I afraid to buy another portable dome because you don't know if it's going to work or for how long.

I don't understand how to get TV by streaming either. I have satellite internet which is suppose to be unlimited but it can sure get slow sometimes. My phone isn't unlimited data so don't think I can use it. My cell phone is so old that most of the time it won't load an app. There are several things that keep wanting to update but if I try it fails. As long as I can use it as a phone I'm not buying a new phone.

You can't stream unless you have a hookup with wire from an internet provider that gives you unlimited data. Cannot use Verizon or AT&T internet through a cell phone or mobile hotspot because it will use up your entire month's allowance for a couple of programs!! So, no Netflix or the new DIscovery+ channel. And no Hopper, which is their recording system. But that is OK because I get so many other channels.

And yes, I can get Hallmark mysteries. Here is the list of DISH channels: https://www.dish.com/downloads/channel- ... lineup.pdf I pay for the most channels without any special packs, which I think is almost $100 per month.

But with DISH at least, it does not matter how far away the local channels are because you are getting them from a satellite. I have never in 8 years not been able to get locals.

And you absolutely need to get an automatic satellite so you don't have to fiddle with trying to get a signal. My $250 dish is automatic and works great. I got my old and my new systems from Camping World who sells only DISH because so few people in RVs use Direct TV.

I am going out to feed carrots and apples to the bunnies! About this time of evening there are dozens of them aroujnd here.

My apps only let me stream with either a data or wifi connection. The only way to not be using that is to download what you want to watch... Which you have to do with a connection.

I'm interested about this, but confused. How do you stream without an internet connection? Are you using a shared network, Wi-Fi, or 4G?

How does the programming come to you?
