Quick shower question

Postby slam308 » Mon May 27, 2019 6:35 pm

I know that moisture is bad for RV's. Do you turn your fan on while you're showering or after you shower?
What if it really hot or cold outside? I'm assuming you turn it on while you're showering, but who wants to suck all the heat or a/c out while you're in the shower?

Also, is there any use or repurpose for grey water?

I definitely run my fan when I'm in the shower whether it is hot or cold outside. It's never on long enough to suck all the warmth or cool out of the trailer. My windows still fog up pretty good, especially when it's cold out but not as bad as if I don't run the fan. I do occasionally forget to open the vent and turn on the fan and I can feel the difference.

The only thing I use my grey water for is to rinse out my dump hose after dumping my black tank.

Using the fan, or even opening the vent, completely depends on where I am. I spend a lot of my time in dry, desert climes... Thus I keep everything shut up and welcome the bit of humidity I add. When I'm in a more humid climate I'll open the vent and sometimes turn on the fan, also.

When boondocking I'll sometimes save my dish water to flush the toilet, but generally do as Laura mentioned.

Thanks. That was one of the random questions that popped into my head.
I think about having an RV constantly, but it always seems like the bathroom is where I'm going to notice the biggest changes.
I'm very adaptable, but I do love having constant water in my shower!

One reuse of grey water is to use a dishpan in the kitchen. Fill it up only a couple of inches, and then wash the first item, rinsing it under the faucet which is still slowly trickling to fill the dishpan. Continue with other items. Then when you are done, carry the dishwater into the bathroom and dump it down the toilet or use it to flush. People nearly always fill their grey tanks way before they fill toilet tanks, so this saves water and helps keep water in the black tank.
