Sunny Sunday in May

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunny Sunday in May

Postby Othersharon » Sun May 19, 2019 7:40 am

Good morning. It’s looking like a fairly nice warm day today before storms move in later today. I spent yesterday at son’s new house moving boxes from garage to basement and my body is letting me know this morning. So I think today I need to take it easy! I have some yard work I want to finish so until I meet up with a friend this afternoon I may get to that. I really wanted to give Lola a bath this week end but don’t think I’ll get to it so will wait for a day this week to take on that project. Gotta say I’m loving the warmer temps! Not that they’re staying but I’ll take it for now. It’s so nice to see all the green after a long crazy winter. Beth, sounds like you’re having even wilder weather then we’re having here. After a few days of warm it always feels even colder when the temps dip. At least to me. Barbie, sounding like you’re going to be busy the next couple of weeks! Bet it’ll feel good to finally get settled in your new home. Judy, hope you’re feeling better. And Irmi glad you relaxing a bit. That’s definitely not an easy thing to go through. But good it was caught so early.
I took the pup with me yesterday and he got to meet son’s new puppy. It went well which is good since she’ll be staying with us for a few days when they have to be away. I’m glad Rascal is so good about meeting other dogs. Well, since there’s not much happening here I’d better get myself dressed and ready to face the day. Hoping everyone has a good day and find something fun to do.

Still sitting out in the middle of Indiana at a dog show. If the storms blow us away in a few hours, please remember Josef and I were last seen at the fairgrounds in Greentown, Indiana. Josef had a great day yesterday but we are expecting different results today due to a different judge and different dogs. But on any given day, who can predict so we go out and run around the ring with hope and a smile. Then again if the storm gets us it won’t even matter!

Oh, Sharon, I think it's wilder here also. We are now in a winter weather storm watch from 6 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Wednesday!
"* WHAT ...Heavy wet snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 6 to
10 inches are possible."
Hopefully by next weekend it'll be over... Maybe for the last time this year. I never give up hope. And I'm very glad I took the rv out and filled the propane last week. At least I can run the furnace as much as I want.

Weather aside, I enjoyed my time alone here, even after the first couple had to leave for a family emergency than I am the next phase as most employees arrived. All I can say is its most likely going to be a hard summer. I do have high hopes for some though.

Tina, don't blow away and have fun.

Time to bundle up and take Ty out... Just looked and it says 29 degrees. Brrrr lol

Take care everyone.

Hi all,
Ava, way to go! I've always knew the ladies of this group have a heart of gold. You proved it by your actions - as many of you all do to support each other day in & day out.
Barbie, your new place looks really nice. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes well at closing for both places.
Beth, yikes! 29 degrees & snow. :? Stay warm & dry.

I took a long-overdue road trip in the minivan since I sold the travel'n van last year. Much easier to drive in the wind. Miss the extra space but enjoyed the lower profile & how zippy it is. Came back to KC to spend some time in the office, attend a nephew's wedding & the twins from WA are coming so we'll have a mini-family reunion. :D Missed most of the storms until the last 60-70 miles outside of KC. Sadie & I 'camped' out in the van on the way here. If you are ever traveling on 54 from Temecula to the KC area, I recommend the Corral Drive-In RV park in Guymon, OK. Super nice people & lovely, warm & extremely clean bathrooms. :D

The kids suprised me for Mother's day by the 2 oldest flying out to LA. We all love a good surprise & they really got me! We had a great time showing my oldest daughter what the west coast has to offer. We hate being so far apart, but it is what it is. Will try to get together more often in the years ahead.

Well, heading out to meet up with friends.
Stay safe out there.

Ever the optimist!  Hope the storm doesn't get you!

It is only 10:30 here and I have just sat down! Forty minutes was spent combing tiny cuckleburs out of Emma's leg poms! I'm ready for a nap!! Think this will be a lazy day. I've had a UTI and had real problem yesterday trying to get lab results. I will now be looking for a new doctor! Her office did not call to give me the results of the test I had Friday morning to see if the infection was gone. Even though the results were in her office before three, the nurses said they couldn't give me the result until she signed off. No one called so after her office closed I called their Urgent Care office and told them my problem but they said they were not allowed to give me the result. I offered to come in so they could run a 'stick' test but they put me on hold and end results was, the doctor was connected. She was furious and ranted on about everything except the test result!! She mostly went on and on about the fact that I am allergic to so many drugs and the result of the original culture. She kept repeating that I was OLD and was going to DIE because I would get sick and they wouldn't have an antibiotic to give me. I reminded her she had said she was going to send me to have tests to be sure I was allergic but she did not. I also kept saying I did fine with the drug I took I just wanted to know if the infection was gone! She finally did tell me the test was negative but continued to rant at me for almost 20 minutes. I should have hung up but was so upset and so shocked by her behavior I didn't. I am still just stunned and puzzled by her reaction and of course, very upset.

One of my friends just called and is coming with comfort food ! :) And the rain has stopped!

Good morning gals!

Good to see you on here Catherine! I have been wondering where you disappeared to! Are you still in Kansas or back in Cali?
Glad you got to see your daughter! Is your van equipped to sleep in comfortably?

We need an update from Lyn too. Gotta keep tabs on that crazy lady!

It is raining out this morning. Not too motivated to get out of bed yet.

After all that fogging in here yesterday, I had a flea jump on me last night in bed!  Will have to do some more vacuuming, spot spraying and laundry today and flea combing the cats real good.

I have been avoiding the "legging" craze since I hate the feeling of anything tight on my lower legs. But now they have come out with bell bottom yoga pants so I bought some for cheap at the art festival yesterday and they are very comfortable!

Think I will grab a bagel and cream cheese and go back to bed for awhile. Sunday is the day of rest, right? :D

Have a great day and stay warm and cozy those of you in the northern states! Yikes! Almost June and still winter weather happening!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

BJ, that is horrible! :o How insulting and upsetting! You should have hung up on her! You definitely need a new doctor!!! I had a doctor I had been going to for a long time, go off on me like that one day and I left in tears! I never went back. I know they can get stressed out but they should never be like that with a patient. Totally unacceptable! Sorry you had to go thru that. Glad your UTI is gone tho.

One of my more interesting experiences while showing dogs is that one time I was showing at a 3-day cluster, and knew that the judge on the last day (Sunday) likely wouldn't choose my dogs, (My daughter was showing my bitch, I was showing the son of my bitch) because I had showed under this judge before, and got nothing. (Not complaining! That's just the way it goes in the dog show world.)

I was tired, the a/c in the motel room the night before had been on the fritz, so we baked all night, and I had an hours-drive home. I very seriously thought of bailing and coming home after Saturday's judging, but for some reason I didn't. I think it was mostly because my 10-year-old daughter had owner-handled my bitch to Best of Breed over a large class on Saturday. LOL - maybe we "cheated" a bit, because my asian daughter was (and is!) incredibly cute, and very tiny (still is!). She looked to be only about 7 or 8 years old. Max. Several of my competitors wondered out loud if she was large enough, and strong enough, to handle. She was.

Anyway, on "the day" the scheduled judge had suddenly been taken ill, and was replaced by a judge that I had shown under a few times in the past, with great results.

My daughter owner-handled to Best of Breed that day, and I owner-handled to Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed.

It don't get much better than that. So you just never know!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, Tina!! :D

OMG. That is truly horrible. It might be time to write a "nastygram" to her employer. This is totally and completely unprofessional at best, intentionally cruel, unwarranted and dismissive at worst.

I mean, exactly who is working for who here? Who is $paying$ who?

I am finding, more and more, that after passing age 70, young physicians (both men and women) have become very dismissive. As though I am about to croak at any minute, and so I am just not worth their valuable time.

If I live as long as my Dad, I might have 26 years left to go. His father - my grandfather - was also long-lived. He lived well into his 90's.

What is it with doctors these days? Or has it always been this was for older people?

I am sure glad I got all the mowing done because the yard and pasture are full of water again. We got about 4 inches of rain. There may have been a tornado in Ville Platte which is about 80 miles North and near one of the state parks. I think most of the rain has passed. I'll still take all this rain instead of Beth's snow.

Tina, congratulation to Joseph and good luck today. Hope the storms miss you.

BJ, hope you can find a better doctor. I kind of get the feeling that when we get older they just want us to go away. The heart doctor I went to last year did make me an appointment for a annual check up.

When I was camping near a lake a couple of months ago I saw a fishing lure hanging in a tree. I went and got my long handle window cleaning tool and managed to get it. Yesterday I put it on a pole and caught a bass. I have always fished with worms and never tried a lure. I kept getting up and down on the golf cart and got a catch in my leg. Last night I woke up with a cramp in my upper leg. Got up and took some Aleve and didn't wake up until after 9 this morning. I seldom sleep that late. Missed the Sunday Morning show again. Last week my step daughter called to wish me Happy Mother's day and made me miss most of it.

I got a steak out to cook but ate 2 slices of olive bread for breakfast so now I'm not hungry. I forgot I had the bread in the freezer. I am slowly getting through all the food in the freezer.

I see Frosty sitting on the porch rail. He usually stays out all day but guess he doesn't like the rain.

I don't think they would do anything if I report her because doctors are hard to get around here, no one wants to live here especially now that the University's enrollment it down over 1/2 !! So figure next best thing is to tell my story at the beauty shop so everyone will soon know!! I've already heard several complaints about her there. Oh, and she is not young, she is 70 !! She is like a lot of doctors who do not want you to do anything but western medicine and do not want you to refuse all their yearly tests, shots etc. if you don't they mark your file as 'Non-Compliant". Also when you refuse the $$$ test, they don't make as much money from your insurance.

I
I thought about it but she wouldn't tell me the test result she kept talking about the first one they cultured and a lot of other things, when she did tell me she was so hard to understand I wasn't sure what she had said so had to wait until I could get her to say it again! I am looking for a new doctor but all the good ones have closed practices. I do have one in ST Louis but that is 100 miles away and it takes forever to get an appointment.

Greetings from unseasonably cold and wet South Dakota! I think Beth will agree with me. Usually planting season is just about over but this year many farmers haven’t even gotten a start. Kind of hard to do field work with bodies of water in fields that are big enough to get white caps when it’s windy. Needless to say DH is getting pretty cranky. He did get 180 acres planted Friday afternoon and then Friday night we had a gully washer that dropped about 2” of rain in an hour and washed out part of the field. The gravel roads are an absolute mess, a car can’t travel down most of them. Many people are leaving their cars at the intersection of the nearest paved highway and they have to have a 4X4 or tractor take them to their house. Hopefully no one who lives on those roads need the fire department or an ambulance. I went to Missy’s greenhouse the beginning of the week and picked up all my plants but the only thing that I have planted is my petunias because they are hearty enough for this weather. The rest of the stuff is sitting in the garage waiting for warmer weather…if the sun ever comes out I’ll have to pull them out to get a little photosynthesis take place.

Bronc finished preschool last week. I had to stand in for Ryan and Ashley at kindergarten roundup on Tuesday. Bronc told me he is really nervous about kindergarten because he has to go to school ALL day and he isn’t too sure about lunch because he has to eat whatever they put on his plate. All the kids and their parent were invited to eat lunch in the lunchroom. I know one thing and that is that he is never going to get outside for noon recess. He is such a slow eater (plus he talks a lot!) that all the other parents and kids had left and the two of us were still sitting in the lunchroom because he wasn’t finished.

Haddie celebrated her second birthday. She can keep a person on your toes. She doesn’t talk much but I think that’s because she can’t get a word in edge wise with Bronc around. The birthday party was last night and the road to the farm is terrible. I offered to rent the banquet room at the bar (because I’m in the middle of sewing projects and my house wasn’t up to par for company) and Ashley’s grandmother offered to have it at her house but Ryan insisted on having it at the farm. Sometimes I don’t know where that boys head is….never mind….yes I do!

May has been a busy month with birthdays, graduation parties and weddings. I don’t think we have another wedding until October…thank goodness.

Barbie, so happy your house sold and everything is working out. Irmi, sorry you had to go through all the hassle of identity theft. Lynn, safe travels. Tina, give Josef a hug for me. Beth, stay warm! Alice you are truly a good Samaritan and Karen thank you for telling us about it. Martha, your posts always make me smile! Martha…a reminder to myself…never piss you off and then be around you when you’re behind the wheel. I just about spewed coffee all over my computer when I read your comment about running over your ex-DIL! BJ, I'd switch doctors too! I know I have forgotten people and events but please don’t take offense! I suffer from a severe case of CRS!

Have a fantastic week!
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Yikes. Doctors can save us and they can make our lives more difficult and even kill us. And they wonder why we don't have the respect for them we did in the past. Last year was my first full year on Medicare and I didn't even get my annual exam because I really dislike my doctor. I think I'll see about finding one in Arizona this winter. But I've not yet had one go off on me like you described, BJ. No human should be treated like that. So sorry you endured that.

Catherine, it's wonderful you're getting a bunch of family time. Enjoy.

Pat, you beat me. Yes, crazy weather. SD farmers are going to be really struggling this year. Love catching up on the kids.

Afternoon all. Sitting here watching Gunsmoke. Always enjoyed that show and one of my cable channels has a lot of the old Westerns, movies, Walker, Texas Ranger a Pan d other things. Better entertainment than some of the stuff on these days.

Even busy around here getting things ready to head out next week. New hitch installed on trailer, now need to get used to using this one. Different from others I have had. Weather has been mixed bag of sun, rain, warm, chilly etc. Moderate rain here now.

O’Sharon, if you want to give Lola a bath, let the rain wet er down, soap er up and let the rain rinse off  Tina, good luck today and hope the storms don’t blow you away. Beth, winter just doesn’t want to quit out there. Catherine, good to hear from you. Stormy out in the plains too. Hoping none around you if you are still out there. Barbie, maybe you should get a professional e terminator in to get rid of those fleas. Bombs don’t seem to be working and new owner would probably appreciate it. BJ, I would be hunting a new doctor. Had that happen to me with a dermatologist who took over my retired doctors patients. I completely forgot an appointment, first time ever, and he sent me a rather harsh letter that if it happens again, he will drop me as a patient. Never went back. But now heard he’s no longer there, so will make appt. again.

As to Lyn. She is touring in the U.P. right now. Up in the Keweenaw Peninsula. Working her way to MN and enjoying her travels although dealing with heavy rain. No internet in the area she’s in though at the moment. Remote area of the state She did post on FB a couple days ago.

Pat, you popped in while I was composing mine. Weather Channel has been talking about the Farmers not being able to plant yet. Not g eat here either. Rain and cold. You have really been busy. Going to be fun hearing about Bronc’s Kindergarten adventures next year. Hard to believe he’s that old already.
