Mr Coffee. Hmm... My old one had a separate lid for the putting the water in. The new ones have one big lid, which I don't like. Anyway, I opted in getting the little 4 cup one. Got it home and the coffee basket is like it's spring loaded, presses down when the lid is down. Only problem is I had to really push on the lid to get it to push the basket down far enough to latch. Then sometimes the lid would pop up again. The water came up the back and up through to thecenter of thel lid and then into the basket so the lid had to be just right. Anyhow, I didn't want to have to work that hard for a cup of coffee so I returned it yesterday. I bought the 8 cup one, still has the one lid, but the water has it's own spout inside to the basket. Somewhat better, but still have to twist the spout out of the way to get the used filter out. Who came up with this, and who passed this design?!? I only bought another Mr Coffee because they are all on sale. Guess I know why. Perhaps I'll write them and let them know my feelings.

Has anyone come across a Black and Decker under the counter one? Used to be able to find them everywhere now can't. I like them easy to fill and out of the way. The ones we have now are pains to fill.

Me and my dog woke up around 12:30 AM to a strange sound. The darn Mr Coffee was running....empty! :o  I must have hit some button that programed it to turn on by accident. It was really steaming and I could smell plastic getting hot. I immediately unplugged it! I hate to think that it could have happened if I was away. I don't program my coffee so I'm not sure if it's a problem with the coffeemaker or operator error! SO I think I might start unplugging it before I go to bed. What a pain!

Our new one only has a on-off switch only so will make sure it is unplugged when not using it.

Oh I just HAD to reply to this post LOL My parent's Krups coffee pot bit the dust yesterday ROFL

My Dad grew up in the Tri-Cities and both my grandparents worked at Hanford. Our whole family took the guided tour a few years ago. It was fascinating!

I might just hunt you down when you get to Oregon if you're going to have FRESH CRAB LOL

My name is Sharon and I'm a coffeeholic....among other things! Here's the coffee maker I got, it's the new Black and Decker under counter. I got the one that has a thermal carafe since my other under counter had a glass carafe and I put it in a thermos to keep it hot. Don't like my coffee after it's been sitting on the heat for a while, gets bitter. I just love this one....I read a few negative reviews about it, but most of them were petty, so got it anyway and glad I did. Couldn't get it apart to mount it like the directions said, but had read on the reviews that everyone had the same problem and it could be mounted without taking it apart. Cheapest I found it was at Amazon. Saw the one with a glass carafe at Target, but it was 10 more than Amazon and I got free shipping from them, so I'm happy with the price and the coffeemaker.
