Almost ready to leave Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Almost ready to leave Wednesday

Postby BirdbyBird » Wed Dec 19, 2018 9:18 am

Morning out there across the land. May your day be bright!

Spoke with my daughter last night and the jello plans are for me to leave here tomorrow and find her driveway in Charlotte by Friday. I did check out a couple of parks farther south but have not even decided what type of jello to plan on after my daughter's.

Today will be sorting and hauling out to the rig. I need to change it over from a dog show RV to a camping RV. Now that Lark is older and has more house privileges I can downsize some crating and have more organization options. Will start my work inside for a while though since the temperatures are expected to go up to 50 degrees which will make attaching a kayak on top of the Honda much easier. Frozen fingers don't work as well as warmer ones. Then again the Honda has been sitting for a couple of weeks.....it should start easier if it is warmer.

Create some fun out there!

PS: Sheila, I will bring that back up coat because I know that it can get down right cold, but still hoping that I don't need it often. :)

Mornin' Tina & all that follow~~~

So glad you'll make it out to Q! And bringing my not so little any more friend Lark. That pup may go home with me yet

Not much going on for me. Did a bit of sightseeing toa historic mission the other day, but mostly hanging out & thinking of where to go after meetup with Eileen & her DH after Q. Still tossing around heading east thru Texas so I can mark Big Bend NP of my list.

Not awake yet really, so time for coffee. If I the have coffee, it may kill the urge for me to actually cook something for breakfast instead of an just toasting something.

Have a good day ladies. Hoping you Christmas shopping is done.

Having a chilly sunny morning after a couple of gray rainy days. The rain is very welcome and the freezing level is dropping so the news is all agog with we "might" have a white Christmas. No we wont.....LOL But the snow level is dropping so a 20 minute drive will let me get my snow fix. Unfortunately this will be a big travel weekend and the passes could pose some problems for road travel. Oh well will be what it will be. 54 for our high today, I will take it. Only 35 out there right now.

Had a great time at our Christmas dinner in the clubhouse last night. Great turnout. 75 people. Our owners had it catered and the food was pretty good. Nice visiting and meeting some folks I didn't know.

Playing Mexican train with a few of the neighbors today. I have won the last 5 times we played so they keep changing my sitting arrangement LOL hasn't helped. We will see what today brings.

Well need to bag up and use my food saver on the meat I bought to pop in the freezer. I shouldn't have to go to the store for quite a while except a quick trip for fresh veggies.

Good Morning! Going to be another sunny and a little cool day today. Will go into the pool around noon. That’s when the most sun is on the pool.
Tina, so glad to see you will be at Q. Wish Eileen & hubby would come there too!
Must get to the library as four books are awaiting me.
Its so beautiful at night walking Benji with all the Christmas lights.

It finally registered with me last night that Christmas is next Tuesday and I have done nothing. I have no clue what to get my grandson other than an Amazon gift card again. He has a little sister now that is almost 2 so need to send her something. It has been a long time since I have looked at toys.

Tina, have a good trip on the first leg of your journey. Be sure and call if you come through South Louisiana. I know I'm out of the way but my yard is alway open. The campground you stayed at the last time has closed. I sure wish I could follow you West.

The rain has arrived. CC is usually the first one out in the morning but he stuck his nose out and said nope. He would rather have treats in his ball than go out in the rain. It's 60 so not that cold but it's going to be a messy day.

I am going to lunch with some of my Louisiana camping friends tomorrow so that will be fun.

Martha, you are definitely on my lists of maybes! I will let you know as I figure out more. I figure that given the time of year some won't be available because of prior commitments but I am planning on trying.

Nice to see people getting on the road! I am starting to plan my spring and summer travels between having to be here in Eugene. In February, I am headed down to Napa to visit kids and Hensley Lake to relax, then back to Oregon to spend a few days at Emigrant Lake near Ashland. In early March, I will drive to Las Vegas to spend some time in my two favorite places--Valley of Fire State Park and Willow Beach Marina. Willow Beach Marina is full, but Valley of Fire is first-come, first-served and I can use my handicap pass there, especially if I arrive on a weekday. It is an absolutely gorgeous place with lots of good, but easy, walks and thousands of pictographs. Planning to be there March 5-14, if anyone wants to join me. Many sites have electric, but some do not. Last time I was there, a small herd of bighorn sheep munched their way past the campground twice a day! I may also spend a few days at Boulder Beach on Lake Mead at the end of March--no hookups.

In April, I will be back at Valley of Fire for a week of so, and then head to California, staying at Tehachapi, Hidden View campground at Lake Hensley, and maybe Napa for a couple of days before returning to Oregon.

I made reservations at Tillicum Park from April 26-May 3 for Site 27, overlooking ocean. This is a federal BLM campground directly on the ocean! Electric sites are $18 for us seniors. Even if the electric sites are all taken, there are quite a few first-come first-served sites there, some on the ocean side of the road with terrific views, especially for tents or small RVs. Only negatives are no showers and no dump station, so you have to drive to town and pay $10 per dump. Just checked, and there are lots of all sorts of sites available for those dates if anyone wants to join me. (Won't need AC during that time as it if always cool on the ocean. Temps in April are 56/43 and in June are still only 61/50.)

Nice nearby town of Yachats, also. You can walk along the cliffs or down in the tidal area to investigate the pools, etc. They also have markets on weekends, but April may be too early in the spring. Also, this is just north of the Cape Perpetua Scenic area--fantastic views of ocean and seal lions, whales, etc. from several areas. Check out these photos: http://grandmajjb.blogspot.com/2018/08/ ... ua-or.html

I am going to make reservations again for Tillicum for late June as soon as they open in a few days. This is really one of the most beautiful coastal areas in either Washington or Oregon, so I highly recommend it, but the Tillicum campground fills up fast, so it is best to have a reservation at least in June-September. I'm at Caballo Lake SP... No more roaming phone/data problems. But every weather station on line and tv were wrong. I should have waited one more day. Dang winds. Of course I caught more the second half... Dumped before leaving, stopped for propane, stopped at Walmart, stopped for gas. Then stopped at Percha Dam SP when I decided to come to Caballo. I guess lots pulled off here because of the winds. I hoped for a site where I could see the water, but am on the opposite side. I'll watch in the morning and snag one of my favorites if they leave. Otherwise I'll be just fine.

My fridge and freezer are both packed to the gills. I only went in Wally World for fruits and veggies. Yay right lol

Tina, I'm looking forward to seeing you. It's been too long! Travel safe and have fun.

Martha, I planned my Christmas dinner... A chicken breast with mashed potatoes and veggies. That's it.

Ty made friends with the propane guy and a volunteer here. Both knew how he likes to play. Happy pup.

Beth, Ty is living the good life. Any rescue place that won't let someone that lives in an RV have a dog is nuts.

I picked up a deboned, stuffed chicken the other day just in case I need to cook something for Christmas. I want to look for one of the turkey roasts but haven't been to Walmart. I ordered my grandson's gift card so got one present done. I'll look at Walmart for a toy to get an idea what's out there. Amazon only has about 40 pages of toys for a 2 year old.

No kidding. Or they say they must have a fenced yard. And no exceptions. Some rescue places simply make rules not in the animals favor.

Sheila, the post office there will only get worse... It's not busy season yet.
