Friday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Fri Mar 23, 2018 7:13 am

Rise and shine everyone, another weekend is begining. Sunshine again here today. Hope those of you in the Northeast have seen the last of winter.

Beth, that sunset picture was beautiful. I don’t think it could have gotten any better. Safe travels on your journey north and I’m looking forward to seeing a picture of the “heads” when you arrive ;)

Barbie, I too read that vinegar makes a good weed killer. Am going to try it this year. Put weed control landscaping mesh down and not plastic when you are ready to redo the yard. It will allow the water through wheras plastic will not, but still blocks the weeds. Annie, I see that Yellowstone is back on your radar screen. Hope you get to go.

Nothing much doing here today. Just putting up a new curtain rod in living room and working on finishing my scrapbook project. Fish fry late this afternoon and of course the dogs are going to want their walk. Hope you all have a nice day.

Good morning Everybody from sunny and warm if you're working outside in your yard. Ask me how I know! My garden/yard is a total disaster from broken shrubs, over grown plants and nothing dead headed from last fall.....I will have more than I can do. Have to

Recognize that fact and find someone to help.
Sue, thank you for opening morning coffee. I always look to see if you have started your day. Enjoy today. Peggy

Peggy, sorry you have such a mess, been there done that too when I bought this house two years ago. Original owners had neglected most of the flower beds and such the last few years they owned the place, but health issues were cropping up too. and the lady I bought it from didn’t do a whole lot either. She did have some Tall bushes removed as roots were getting into drain field, did plant a little into a bed by the side landing and had to have some diseased trees removed, but that was about it. But she as in her mid 70’s too. I ripped out flowerbeds that were mostly more weeds than iris plants from along the side of garage and along the back deck as well as along one side of the house. Didn’t replace any of it. Took out some flowering bushes in front of porch as they were growing wild and would need constant trimming. Replaced them with shrubs that only need maintenance once in awhile. Am starting some new beds in front of house though and plan to do perinnials in them. Have a couple landscaping ideas for one side of the house but no flowerbeds as want to keep my yard work to a minimum. Good luck in getting your yard under control. May have to call Carolb

Morning everyone. I have a pretty long hike on the agenda hoping to find a particular cactus. Wish me luck. In years gone past Peaches would have joined me, but I know she's not up to the length now. But she is up to wishing all the forum pups a Happy Puppy Day!

Good morning, nice to see Peggy in Conn. posting again.
Beth, what cactus are you going to look for? Several years ago, I went with “flower” people looking for an endangered species. We found a few. However, looking up on the cliffs, where they would not get much water, out in the desert, there they were growing in abundance!!
Tomorrow I go to a baby shower for my next GGD.
I got my new hearing aids this week. What a difference. And, the phone rings in my hearing aid! Of course, now that I hear the phone ring, I have to get up and look for the phone!

Good (late) morning gals! :D

Sunny today and birds are chirping. My head feels a little clearer this morning. My left ear was full of fluid yesterday so I didn't feel very good. Maybe the antibiotics are finally doing their thing. Still a little congested in my chest tho.

I still have very little energy. I have so much to do around here and just don't feel good enough to do any of it yet. Trying to save what little energy I have for work. I know it takes time to get over these things but I am getting impatient! I wanted to be done with the inside of the house by the end of March so I could start on the outside, but I guess it will get done when it gets done...

Also have to get my stuff together for my taxes soon! Am still waiting for m W2 from Arizona. Have called them repeatedly but so far haven't received anything from them. Need to call again... Only 3 more weeks left. I think I will get all the rest of what I need for that put together this weekend so it is ready to go.

I need my beach fix soon too! Has been almost a month since I have been there. :o I have a new beach chair to try out.

Have a good day! :D

Lyn, I hate admitting that I did the hike, followed the good directions and went past the cactus I wanted to see and take pictures of without finding it  Luckily I found it that a ranger here took and posted and I've borrowed for your enjoyment. They've named it "Michelin Man".

I'm home sweaty and frustrated... Leaving here tomorrow so I'll have to come back another year and try again!

Beth, sorry you missed your cactus! Looks pretty cool tho! Next time...

So sad to hear of Martha's son now gone so soon after her husband! Heartbreaking!

One of my fears lately is of choking to death on a cough drop, and tonight I actually ended up choking on one! Scared the crap out of me! :o Put my head down and tried to reach it with my fingers but it was too far down. Was able to take a breath, pound on my chest, and finally coughed it up! Whew!

Have a good night...

Barbie, one thing I’ve heard of if you’re in a choking situation alone like you were is to simulate the Heimlich maneuver by leaning over the back of a chair so it hits on your diaphragm then push down quickly until whatever is causing the problem pops out.

I was thinking about that too, but I think it is easier said than done. Luckily I was able to dislodge it without having to try that.
