THURSDAY AND STILL RAINING

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

THURSDAY AND STILL RAINING

Postby Nasoosie » Thu May 07, 2009 4:08 am

GOOD MORNING, ALL!!

Pouring rain out there again this morning, but 47 degrees, so rather warm. Of course, compared to Arizona's 'warm'----this is frigid! I despise AC, but I truly don't know if I could stand heat so high that my hot water would heat on its own!! OUCH! That just boggles my mind. But it must be great to have such instant outdoor drying of your clothes! Not a chance to dry any laundry outside here today!

I slept in the trailer last night, and enjoyed the sound of rain on the roof----but the trip back into the house was rather 'damp' as I had left my raincoat in here! Not too swift was I last night.

I imagine the Alaska Caravan people are really getting underway now, and how I do wish them a wonderful time. I am so sorry I can't be going with them. The more I think about it, however, the more I am thinking I will never be able to afford a trip such as that, as I have no money saved for such a venture. After I retire, I will be living mostly checks to checks----SS and retirement. I think I will have to set my goals for smaller adventures. I hadn't really thought about how much it would cost to keep up such a daily number of miles with no regard to what time of the month it might be. I would definitely need a cache of cash somewhere!

Sparkle and Beth have to part ways today, and it will be not the same on here without their unique and entertaining accounts of their adventures! I would be crying out loud if I were one of them, as I don't do goodbyes well at all. I hope each will stay in touch as they find others to share things with. Happy trails to them both!

It sounds as if we all on this east coast are getting more rain today, and I hope we find some fun things to do inside until the sun comes back. Coffee is hot and tasty, so c'mon in and sit a spell, make some plans, and let us in on your thoughts for the day! Those on the roads, keep a wary eye to the sky----those hunkered down, stay warm and dry and entertained somehow!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good-morning, Soos, and anyone else who may be posting as I write this !!! All of this rain and just plain stormy days, is not helping me at all to get prepared to leave home for such a long time. Had to cancel taking my r.v. in for oil change and state inspection etc., yesterday, just to nasty and garage here can't get it inside. Did manage to get a lot done inside, towards what to take and cleaning in here. Can't be postponing much, time is getting really short.

Soos, I've hoped to make this trip for years and years and had some put aside for it, but still could not go on my own, the trip is possible for me now, due to Liz and I, sharing expenses, and she has the newer r.v. Nothing is impossible, if you want it bad enough, there is always someway, if you're meant to do or accomplish something. Somethings I have done, I still wonder how I did it. So don't think negative, you never know what tomorrow might bring.

When I reached this age, had thought I would have a newer r.v., but I'm trying really hard not to have negative thougths, so far, doesn't look like its meant to be though :D I'm still thinking and looking at them  Just looking is fun, which is good, as it may turn out to be the only thing I can do on the wish.

Well, today is get the hair done, go to the bank and also see if I can get my money for the agony of jury duty(two headaches, I never have headaches :? ). They mail them, and the checks are only good for 90 days, probably will be no good time I get back home to cash it. Day looks much like yesterday, so hope after I get my hair done, I can get home without getting soaked, its last on the list of "To do" today.

Well, time for Meds for Maggie and me, so have a great day all. Stay safe, dry, warm, whatever it takes, wherever you are. Just enjoy the day !!!

God Bless,
Carol

Same ole, same ole, .... raining here, too! Doesn't look like we'll see any sun today. Ok,... Mother Nature,.. we got the rain,.. woods are now wet down nicely... let's have some sun!

It's exciting to read of the AK trip. I'll enjoy seeing the pics and stories as you all travel along. I'm planning on it later. But for now I'm having fun with my granddaughter's sports and working here at the school. When i start to think about traveling I remember these kids and how great they are. you can't beat a small school. K-12 in one building and only about 250 kids in all.

OK,.... Time to get busy,.....
Have a great day everyone!

Hot and humid here in Biloxi. Leaving this am for New Orleans. Went to see two museums yesterday, but seems that our 2009 Trips and Maps' database haven't updated since Hurricane Katrina. Nothing but slabs of concrete where the museums should be. However, while driving around, we saw where they had begun to build the new ones-so maybe next time. carold

Yep, Sparkle informed me about 1/2 an hour ago that I'm stuck with her for another day. I was intending on heading to Durango to visit friends - but screwed that one up as they left on a whirlwind trip of a couple national parks in Utah to celebrate their 25th anniversary and won't be home till Sunday evening, so I'm going to take my time going this last 50 or so miles :) Then off to visit a couple north of Denver who I work with on websites but have never personally met. That'll be a great time, also. From there to SD to get a new drivers license, etc - and hope that changing my address now doesn't hurt with any of my credit cards on the road :o

Going to get a bit of work done then see what Sparkle has in mind for us today.

Good Morning!
The rain has stopped here for a few hours at least; more later in day. As of noon yesterday, we had had 17 inches of rain since Friday. That's a lot of water, folks. The tornado that hit yesterday morning was an EF 2 with winds about 125 mph. Hundreds more trees down and other property damage but no serious injuries reported.

Really excited for those preparing to head out for AK. BTW, hope all are aware that the Passport rules change as of 1 June. Forms of ID that were previously accepted at land crossings will no longer be acceptable to reentry to the US. As of June 1 you must have a passport, passport card, or other travel document approved by Homeland Security. We don't want to loose any of you on the other side of the border.

I have a mountain of paperwork building up; may have to tackle that today unless I can find something more interesting to get into for the day.

Wishing you a safe and fun day.

Well it is currently not raining...but it is cloudy and we had one heck of a down pour last night.
Well at least the roses and azaleas I planted a few weeks ago are getting well watered. I am really ready for sun and warm. Warm by our standards...so that would be in the 70's.

Today is a busy day...Kodie has her therapy appts this morning. Our usual Thur morning. Then Zeke will have homeschool baseball clinic (last one yea!!) Then the older kids have Karate Class, then Kodie has adaptive aquatics program in the early evening. Today is when I really feel like a Taxi Cab. Only a few more weeks and things will wind down for the summer. Then it is camping camping and more camping. We have our shake down trip the first week in June, that is where we camp locally and make sure everything is ready for the season. The local camp is a membership resort thingee...so even though we are camping..there are 3 pools, hot tubs, etc. We usually hold DS end of season Baseball Party during that week also. Then we have a weekend at the Highland Games, the next weekend in Leavenworth...then we get back from that and get ready for the big trip. Then we have 2-3 more weekend plans to finish out the summer.

Love the Highland Games! Seeing as I'm Scottish that should be no surprise. DH used to roll his eyes when I'd spot a food stand and scream "Mushy Peas!" Maybe I should put that in the Recipe section?...Nah, I'd rather keep my friends.
