Eclipse Pics from Rexburg, ID

For me, the eclipse turned out to be the spectacular event I hoped it would be. Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime event. There were some trees in the RV park so I walked down the road and found a good place where I could look out across agricultural fields all the way to the mountains in the distance. The weather was perfectly clear. I was amazed at how cool it started to get 25 minutes before totality. By the time totality started I would guess the temperature went down close to 15°. My bare arms were so cold when I touched them. Below I've posted some pics starting at the beginning of the eclipse and up to and including the corona during totality. After that are some shots of the field across the street from where I was located. The first is in normal light and then the light gradually decreases to totality. Lyn asked in MC if I saw any NASA balloons. No I didn't. I'm not sure where those were released.

Excellent! I was waiting at the repair facility to see if they had all the parts for my brakes and tried to take photos of the partial eclipse, but not much luck. Yours are fantastic!

Great pics! I enjoyed watching it, also. We were at 96% here, but that or totality wasn't as much fun as the time before and after, which I loved... We dropped 15 degrees also. Brrr.

The RV park where I stayed was full to capacity including people in tents all over the grassy areas. Getting away from the people in the park was also a reason, in addition to the trees, to go down the road. The road outside the park (West Yellowstone Highway) was bumper to bumper for several hours after the eclipse. It wasn't too bad before.

Linda

I used the tripod until about half way. After that when the sun was higher I had difficulty pointing the camera that high. So I took it off and did the rest just holding it.

Wohoo Sandi, so glad everything worked out for you, I know how excited you were for this event. Your pictures are magnificent. Here we just had gloomy looking skies no totality but it did get cold for sure. I had to put a sweater on LOL

You got some great pictures! Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed the eclipse on TV. It didn't get dark here nor cooler with only a partial eclipse.

Great pictures Sandi, thank you for sharing!. Apparently the cloud that came over Carbondale was responsible for several parts of town to only get a glimpse of the event. Unfortunately that included our house and the football stadium where 14,000 people had gathered. The cloud passed for just a few seconds of visibility. The temp felt like a staggering 105 with the humidity factor so no wonder I didn't feel any change. It felt suffocating when I went out. Traffic after the event was terrible I think everyone came in either night or early Monday and all left at once. So glad you were in a good viewing place!
