Beth, your #1 was what I was alluding to with wanting my own RV. I'd feel the same way with my stick living place, too.

In that case, I guess all the gals in your 'community', Trudy, will each have to have their own rig or join already matched up with someone.

My mind is envisioning an old campground that can be fixed up so the campsites could be used to park the RVs when at the 'community'. Perhaps each would still have electric and/or water hookups and their own meter for paying. Then small one bedroom cottages for the stick homes which women would rent and a community building for gathering together.

Yep, lots to iron out, and not everyone will have the same wants/needs, but an interesting idea just the same.

I didn't say it was a good idea, just something I've been thinking about. I've also been thinking about writting a book called "My Chum" about a crazy person that lives on a boat, kidnaps people and uses them to chum for sharks - also not a good idea, but there it is in my head !!!
Sorry to hijack the thread - I'll keep stuff in my head (that rhymed - see how my mind works)

Trudy,... go for it! I'll bet it would be a best seller. Love your humor!

Back to the original thread ( ), I again delayed delivery of the POD ... and I'm just going to get those two rooms
ready to paint & have all the other repairs done. I'm still not sure about selling the house. Perhaps I'll wait another year. You know, if I still am this reluctant to sell ... I should just make a decision not to and take the fallout.

Janice, go with the gut feeling. If it doesn't feel right, then don't do it. It usually doesn't feel right for a reason! It'll all work out in the end.

Paulette is right,.... the "gut" tells you all. If the gut is giving you second thoughts then wait. You can always do it later, but once it's gone it's gone forever.

Hang in there,... go slow.

Gut feelings should NEVER be ignored, I have learned in this life.....if I've learned nothing else at all, I HAVE learned this. As others have said, you can always sell later, but once you do sell, you can't unsell. Use your motivation to get yourself and your clutter (assuming you have any-----I have so much I can't even begin to decide where to begin to get rid of it) organized, weeded out, and your house in the shape you want it. You have an RV, and can travel and live in that whenever and wherever. And you will still have your roots until you are absolutely SURE you don't want it any more. Don't be scared....just admit to being unsure and deal with that right to be unsure!

This is a fascinating conversation Jan! Thanks for initiating it.
I was just thinking that 'after' the declutter, reorganizing,
painting and rearranging furniture is done you might feel
like you are in a new place all ready! Like the other gals I
have learned to trust my gut. When everything is right you
will know!

Yeah, what if you got somebody like me in your group? My "repair" method is, if it falls off, chuck it in the back of the truck! I go places I shouldn't and get dings....lots of them....or seawater....or going down 12% grades and smoking the brakes. I wouldn't be very popular.
You're right about men not wanting strong independant women. A man asked my friend if she thought I'd go to dinner with him. She said, ask, but she is leaving to fulltime in an RV. He shot off and I never heard from him. A really nice woman that Beth knows has met a man, but she is the type, "Oh my, I couldn't drive a big rig like that!" I pointed out to Beth that even though we are gorgeous, charming, with wonderful pesonalities, we can't get a man. It's their loss. :D

And then there was my X that prefaced every other sentence with "well, now that you are married...." and would go on to say what he thought i shouldn't be doing anymore. Things like going for walks with women friends... (middle of town around the fairgrounds race track)... going out to b'fast or lunch with women friends.... he wanted my independence to disappear. Hmmm.... guess you know how that ended!

DRUM ROLL ...

Okay, I posted this in Zee's morning message ... but I'll re-post it and re-hijack this
thread:

I'm going to call my real estate agent and my son and give them the news that I"m staying
put. I feel badly about this -- I've disappointed my son (and the agent!) on this before. But
living where I do is good for me, and I believe that people are right now looking for bargains,
not to pay a fair price for a home. It's a good, upwardly mobile neighborhood, near my friends
and support), and I'm comfortable here. I'll still have the contractor come in & do the needed work.

Then, my new roommate will be moving in (to her nicely painted quarters downstairs),
and I'll pack up and head out to my summer gig.

I'm sure this comes as no surprise to all of you here. But this is an important lesson
to me about impulsiveness -- which usually costs me $$$.

But I hope this doesn't stop this thread -- it's SO much fun!

Good Grief my head is spinning! It's hard to keep up with you girl. But I bet you feel good now, and you made your decision before any real damage was done. Rock on!

I will second what Sparkle said,..... seemed like a good idea for a while, but then reality set in. Whew! I think for now it is a GOOD decision Janice! Way to go!

Jan, Maybe what was meant to be - was you getting the place cleaned up and organized :) That's done and now you'll be able to travel and have a clean, new/old house to come back to. If after you're back you want to sell - that will be the time.

As to stealing threads - none of us do that - we just occasionally borrow them for awhile.
