WINTERY WEDNESDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

WINTERY WEDNESDAY

Postby Nasoosie » Wed Apr 29, 2009 4:09 am

GOOD COLD MORNING ALL!

With the temperature at 25 here, winter seems to be back! To top it all off, it's Fossamax Day, and so I am forced to drink down 8 ounces of COLD water with that icky stuff! So I am sitting here, freezing, waiting for the coffee. Much as I hate to do it, I turned on the Monitor kerosene heater to make it so I can't see my breath in here! I might have to take a break from my computer 'chores' and make a wood fire, too. But that would mean moving around a bunch of stuff I have blocked the wood stove with as I am trying to clean up the living room. Sigh....guess I'll just put more clothes on and call it a normal April morning.

The swine flu seems to be gaining some spreadability in this country----keep safe out there, all you travelers. Be sure to sterilize your hands after touching grocery cart handles----to my mind, they are the most infected, contaminated, germ-teeming objects in my environment! I almost feel like wearing rubber gloves when I have to touch them. People sneeze on them, cough all over their hands that push them, runny noses on kids get dripped on them, people who haven't washed their hands in MONTHS touch them.....ACK!

Sorry about this talk at breakfast time, but maybe it'll make you think when you get back from shopping to WASH your hands before you touch anything in your house. Grocery cart handles get the prize for infection vectors!

My hands are almost too cold to type. Time to get the wood stove cleared out and lit up. I hope you all have a good day and that you will share it with us. I still haven't had the time to mess with my videos from the pond the other night. Perhaps I'll find some time this morning, if I get warm enough!

Happy Wednesday!

Happy travels!

Good morning Soos!

I'm a little warmer here,.... 39° here at 6:30 a.m. Forecast to get to 61° by afternoon. Lots more normal than the last few days which were tooooo h-o-t for me at 85°. Head in to school early,... it will be warmer!

I think the new grocery cart covers that young mothers are using are a great idea. They look like quilted material that fit over the seat and sides of the infant seat area. it does protect the baby. I agree that the cart handles are yukky.

I know we have no cases here in the north country, but I did wipe down all 15 computers in the classroom I supervise.... keyboards, mice, and work areas yesterday. Also my classroom desk top, door handle and wall phone. I'll do that now more frequently than I have been doing it. Just as a precaution.

Come on gals,... rise and shine! coffee's on!

Good morning everybody,

Not much happening here today. I have a follow-up appt. with podiatrist after being treated for a heel spur 2 weeks ago. The combination of cortisone shot, new arch inserts and recommended new tennis shoes have done the trick....no more pain. Should have gone to him in Dec. instead of suffering for 3 months waiting for it to heal. Probably won't need the second shot he said he could give me. I've been hiking in the woods and walking on concrete sidewalks with no problem.

Soos, my grocery store (Publix) has disinfectant wipes next to the grocery carts. I always use one to wipe the handle before shopping. I also carry a small Germ-x in my purse/beltpack for use in public places, so I don't have to wait until I get home to wash my hands.

Expected to get in the 90's here in central FL by the weekend. I can't wait to head north in another 1 1/2 weeks. Sure hopr Carolinagal is finished with jury duty so we don't get delayed by that.

Have a great day whereever you are!

Good morning all,
Just had to drop in and say I'm heading to warm Daytona Beach from warm Orlando. Yes, had to rub it in.

I'll set some freshly squeezed orange juice on the table for all.
Later...

Good morning, everyone! I'll be doing some housework today & mow the back yard.
And I'm going to call my real estate agent and my son and give them the news that I"m staying
put. I feel badly about this -- I've disappointed my son (and the agent!) on this before. But
living where I do is good for me, and I believe that people are looking for bargains, not to pay
a fair price for a home. It's a good, upwardly mobile neighborhood, near my friends and support,
and I'm comfortable here. I'll still have the contractor come in & do the needed work.

Then, my new roommate will be moving in (to her nicely painted quarters downstairs,
and I'll pack up and head out to my summer gig.

Good morning from Yuma AZ, sunny and warming up here. Gotta get alot of stuff done today and tomorrow and then off we go on Friday to Bullhead City.
I can relate to you Liz I had my final shot....and hope it is final for my feet. My Podiatrist says I have Neuroma in my feet which means the nerves under the ball of my foot are inflamed and he is using Alcohol injections to deaden and quiet down the nerves. My Doctor will not use Cortizone for Neuroma, states it does not really help. My friend had the corizone shots for Neuroma and now has to have surgery. I too had heel spurs and it went away using more cushioned shoes and orthotics in my shoes. As we get older the arches in our feet start to break down. I'm also taking two Aleve each day and that helps too. Through playing on the Wii I have also realized I did not stand up straight! Learning to lean forward and put more weight on my toes not the heel. That's what happens when we gain weight, we lean back!

Dan has a couple here learning how to drive their 5th wheel. They NEVER have backed it into a campsite , they always asked for a pull thru so they are learning all that yesterday and today. Was a last minute instruction called in and Dan was still here in Yuma, so they hustled to Dan. First thing they did was to back into our driveway. We are finding out the wives are much better drivers!!! Woooohooooo!!! WHY? Because the women are not lead footed and more cautious.
Ok going to have another cup of coffee and have some Biscotti. Wish I could find the Noni's Limon Biscotti..it's my favorite!!!
Going to hate leaving my little casita, it is so peaceful here. Paid my next door neighbor to keep my plants alive and Earl & Sandy will watch the property. We never worry about leaving it because we have people next to & across from us. Sandy has a key to get in if she needs to. I'll be back the first week of Nov. Have decided to have Halloween on the road in Aguanga at the Jojoba Hills SKP park where I know they have a fun time on Halloween! Gotta get Dan a pirate costume this year because on Valentine's Day we are invited down the street for the Valentine's day party next year and the theme is Pirate's! This year was Mardi Gras and they really wooped it up and had fun!!! The costumes were soooo cool!!! Last year was the 50's and all the gals were wearing poodle skirts. We have fun out here in the Foothills...like my friend said "Party central!"

Gooooood Morning Sistahs!!!!

Bright sun shiny morning here in northern AZ. Which really is better than rain of course but it's not that warm yet, that's for sure. I would feel a tiny bit better if I had something on other than just my sweatshirt, just something light, maybe a windbreaker. And more than just a couple of the RV's around me have their furnaces going this morn. I didn't set up my coffeepot until this morning so my coffee is finally done and I've managed to drink my first 1/2 of a cup! Will finish the first cup of the day in a minute.

Took a ride yesterday from here at the camp ground in Page to Jacobs Lake. I had thought that there was at least 'something' there? Ya know a little town, a village?? Nope! There's a gas station, a restaurant and a small campground that's still closed. It was 81 miles from the campground to the gate closing the road to the lodge sign there said it was another 23 miles to the lodge, so all in all about 104 one way from Page where the WalMart is to the lodge. Good thing I've been training myself to stay the heck out of WalMart. Now?? If I can just figure out a way to stay completely out of grocery stores?? Boy could we save some money!!! But we came back a different way, little longer? But I told Kelly when we leave here to go to the lodge we will go the longer way, road is a lot better and doesn't take as long. Went up thru Fredonia, small town closest to the lodge, not much there, at least we didn't see much. LOL Then on up into Kanab UT, nice town not big but nice. They actually have a grocery store, a few gas stations, lots of motels, campgrounds and a Micky D's! Yep civilization, which was a good thing cause we both had to go potty. Being so happy to find a bathroom and a grocery store made me forget all about needing gas. Oh boy I realized my mistake a ways out of town. Let me tell ya something about out here. Gas stations are few and far between. I sweated it the whole 70 +/- miles back to Page. There was a gas station on the way back an unattended one that takes cards only but it sure wouldn't take mine.

As of right now the only complaint I really have is the freaking wind!!!! It's kinda quiet at the moment except for a breeze but the wind is the biggest pain in the azz!! It's almost a constant thing, especially when ever you are trying to do something other than sit at the table. Trying to put up the tents, setting up stuff or laying out foil for the charcoal grill. Eating dinner last night was a pain not to even mention that is sure did cause the charcoal to burn faster but blew the heat away from what needed to be cooked!!! At least the hamburgers were done! Green beans were luke warn and so was the mac and cheese. And in no time flat because of the wind and chill in the air every things was stone cold to eat! I think for supper tonight we will do PB&J at least then I wont have to fight with the wind, chilly air and food gone cold.

Adding some mini banana and blueberry muffins to the table to go with the coffee.

Hope ya'll have a great day and remember to stay safe.

Love to all

I want to make sure I have this right - you and your daughter are going to live in a tent(s) all summer long on the north rim and workamp???? Whatta woman (or 'women') ! ! !

I have been MORE THAN impressed with you women on this forum...jeez - I guess I wish I had half your chutzpah.

Have a ball, Echo, and the rest of you living your dreams! And Echo, I've missed your daily posts, too!

Hey Mitch

Nope we wont be living in the tents full time out here. We will of course be working at the lodge up until October sometime but they are providing housing. The owner of the lodge has said that with it being the two of us (mother/daughter) that it will either be a 5'er or at least something where we will have a little bit of room. It will cost us $100 for the month, basically only to cover the cost of utilities and that's it. By time the season is over we will have our winter jobs lined up and will go there.

As soon as we can get enough money set aside we will be getting a p/u truck and tt or possibly a class c if we have to to get us by until we can get what we want for a p/u truck and tt. Coming out here there were so many times I was cussing that I didn't have an RV. All those lovely pull off spots and no RV. It was a bummer only having tents...
