Flu?

Postby Queen » Mon Feb 13, 2017 6:09 am

Started yesterday afternoon. Bone cracking chills, fever, deep asthmatic cough... gotta say, I feel pretty crappy. Wonder if this is what the flu feels like? If so, I'm not a fan.

I was shivering so bad Mary only gave me room temp water... thank god for electric blankets. I can't have flu shots and I don't think I've ever had this before, it sure sucks.

I just read yesterday, that there is a virus going around, that causes the same symptoms as the flu. Sounds like what you have. They say there is nothing you can really do except drink fluids, take some Acetamophen or something similar and just wait it out. There can be a cough associated with it that may last a couple weeks.

Interesting, I'm coughing up a lung right now. And I think my fever broke, I'm sweating like a construction worker and I'm so thirsty!

Sweating it out is good (at least it has been for me), just make sure you stay bundled or you'll then end up with a chill. And drink lots! We don't need you getting dehydrated too! Feel better soon!

I had the chills so bad yesterday, I ache today from all the clenched muscles. I'm drinking hot tea now, and it's making me sweat even more, but it sure feels good on my throat.

Thanks, my shower wore me out! Like I worked out or something... this is pretty un-fun. And the thought of food makes me want to barf. Gotta say, really not digging this.

That is what I have had the past week. Just starting to feel better but still low on energy and coughing a lot yet. Both of my brothers and one SIL got it too. All of us had the flu shot this year. They must have missed a strain with the shot.

Hope you feel better soon!

No, I'm back in Illinois now (since last September), no mosquitoes around here until May.

Much like what I had. I take MSM, often included with those Glucosamine arthritis knee pain supplements as an anti inflammatory. I take the MSM separately. I discovered in reading that it acts as anti inflammatory in lungs too. I had skipped a few doses because of the flu bug. My lungs felt very inflamed. Suddenly I thought of my MSM and took a dose and within a hour or two my lungs were much better. For cough I like Mucinex generic from Costco or a supplement called NAC which in inhaled form is RX as Mucomist. I take NAC as capsule and it really helps cough. Drink lots of fluids: water, tea, chicken broth. Keep your urine dilute clear to light yellow. Elderberry in syrup or tea or pill is antiviral. So is Vit D.
Tincture of time on this bug.

Velda, what is MSM? I take glucosamine and chondroitin now, but don't know what that is.

I was doing fine this morning, then my temp jacked back up and I've got chills again... is this normal?

That's what happened to me last weekend. Still some tired this week yet. Don't know what the virus is called, but aches, low grade fever, fatigue, chronic cough, nausea, headache, post nasel drip etc. are some of it's symptoms. There have been 5 confirmed cases in the Lansing area in Michigan. As they have said, you just have to wait it out. It's a respitory thing.

I have had good days and bad days. Unfortunately, today was a bad day, just weak and dizzy, etc. Hoping for a good day tomorrow. I think it just does that for awhile until it is gone.
