Driving with the TV Antenna Up

Once again, I tried to park somewhere a couple of days ago and ended up scraping the top of my motorhome against some soft branches. There were no horrible sounds, so I figured it was OK>

But as I was coming back from my bike ride today, I noticed that my TV antenna is up at about a 45 degree angle, facing forward. What I mean is that the open part faces the front of my motorhome. Tried to put it down from inside and no luck. And I really am not up to getting on top of the roof myself and crawling around.

As usual, I managed to do something where there isn't much in the way of RV service, although there is a mobile guy I could get to come, but that is kind of expensive.

So, do you think it is OK to drive 100 miles with it like this?? Or should I pay the bucks and get someone to fix it??

I don't believe I would do it, is there someone in the park maybe you could ask
to climb up there? I have on occasion seen them lying on the side of the road.

Lol, ok, you cracked me up, I meant to say antennas laying on the
side of the road. That was funny!

I had both knees replaced and the ortho surgeon said my kneecaps were very fragile and not to kneel on hard surfaces, so at least I have an excuse! What I need is a 10' ladder and someone to hold it for me.

Guess I will bite bullet and call mobile repair guy tomorrow. Would rather spend money on stone crab now that season is open, however. I just seem to get one thing fixed and another breaks!

Antenna has been removed and tossed in the trash because it was badly damaged. Don't use air TV anyway.

So, how did I get it removed? The trick is to drive over to the dump station with it sticking up. I got followed by a bunch of campers on bikes and two others sitting outside by their campers came over and pointed it to me at dump station. Kept telling them it was stuck, and I was going to call a mobile RV repairman later this morning. But one who had a tall ladder offered to climb up and fix it, so I let him. His wife and I held the ladder while he climbed up. He said it was beyond repair and had his wife hand up his screwdriver and wire cutters--snip, snip and he tossed it down!

So no cost at all, except I have some prime bottles of wine and will take one over to his wife and him tomorrow morning. Been out bike riding at Key West all day and too many mosquitos out right now. They have been attacking me like crazy even with the nice ocean breeze all the time.

Last time I was in Napa, I told my son I needed to carry more wine to give as thank-you gifts to helpful fellow campers. It's really a nice thing to do.
